China does not have a tipping culture, and it is a commercial rule in China to clearly mark prices. Requesting tipping will increase the burden on consumers and is considered unethical.
We don't have tipping culture, only master tipping to his ow slave or servant in Chinese culture. The other reason is preventing unequal services to different customers, Miss A tips well than A gets superb service, Miss B tips just few than get bad service even ignore. One thing good for consumers is you can realize how much exactly you gonna pay from price list. If you really want to show your gratitude or love, you can give her oral praise or buying other merchandise, a warm hug will do the job also.

Also a developing country with hard working people trying hard to make their lives better. One of the core values for the society is equality . People are humble and friendly. A country far from perfection but in the right way towards prosperity for all.
The Chinese believe that service staff should be paid by their employers, rather than giving them relatively small wages to ask for tips from customers. Otherwise, the waiters will serve better those who are willing to tip more, resulting in a poorer experience for other customers.
@@xxyy7799-xyi Yeah, tipping is really a bad culture. 15% is not a sign for good service now, but without 15%, you may receive a bad reaction from waiters. That's ridiculous.

They want a positive comment on the review website more than tips. Every time I take a lot of photos and write a lot of positive comments on the website, they are very happy for that.

Wow! What an amazing job she did on your nails my friend! They look SO perfect and beautiful 😍 She paid so much attention to detail and that price is outstanding! As for the tipping culture. When I first came to the United States I learned how to tip and thought that was a very good culture since people providing services will be rightfully incented. However when I myself worked in a restaurant I found out I really had little interest in maintaining good service for good tip because it was too hard to tell which person tip well. Today after thirty years, the average tip In America became 20% even includes delivery. It never served as an incentive but an supplement to underpaied salary. It has caused a lot of unnecessary problems between customer and service personal. During the same time, the level of service in China has improved a lot, much better than that of the US and alot of other countries I know of. All these make me thinking tipping is a false incentive and can even become negative incentive to the service industry. It's good China keeps the status que. If you really want to show your gratitude. You can publicly praise the people who serves you. You can also tell her I liked your service, do you have anything else you can provide like massage so she can make a bit more money. She will be happily to accept it and give you a wonderful service.
Tipping people with money is considered "charity" and that is bad. If you want to reward someone for a service of whatever ....... give them a "gift" instead. Give them a small bag of fruit as a gift. Fruit or cookies etc are gifts, while money is charity. Surprising how difficult it is for westerners to understand this.
Yes, as a Chongqing native, I once had a great experience with a hairdresser who offered me a drink. Another situation where people might offer extra money in China is due to numbers. For example, the number 8 represents prosperity. Some people will add 8 to a certain number when paying, while others will request a discount by adding 0 to the number. For example, if you pay 104 yuan, but only want to pay 100 yuan, you can request a discount by adding 0 to the number. Sometimes the boss will also offer a discount by adding 0 to the number, giving you a few yuan less as a new customer service representative or familiar customer discount.

My take on the lack of heat build up when she was removing the previous coat is that she had a very light touch that enabled her to scour off the old lacquer without pressing on the nail therefore avoiding any discomfort for you !
Hiiii Naomi, I just saw someone's putting ur video in"xiaohongshu", about the tipping thing I would like to explain in a Chinese way: I think the reason they're not taking the tips is :They don't want you to spend more money on this project because they aim to provide a good service experience for foreigners. Their goal is to offer you a genuine experience rather than providing good service just for tips. Moreover, tipping culture doesn't exist in China. If it is genuine appreciation, they will be very happy. Thank you very much for visiting China. While there might be some aspects that are not ideal,However, Chinese people are kind and hospitable, and China is a warm and welcoming country. We hope you enjoy your time in China.
she made you happy and the smile on your face for her is a good enough feedback very cute and soft colour, affordable price and good service, nice experience!
Tipping culture has gone too far here in North America. It's straight up robbery now for mandatory 15%+ tips at a lot of places and it's disgusting... China, among with a lot of other countries don't have a tipping culture is actually a very good thing.
is it just me noticing or? Seems Naomi is getting more beautiful since your trip in China. Did you also do your hair, eyebrows and some make up too? Btw Fairy Nails is a good name.
Tipping is just not part of the chinese culture :) People are hired and will be paid by the person/companies who hired them, and tipping will be considered as receiving money privately from customers, which i think may be against the hiring rule.
China is very safe, you can rest assured that traveling in China, whether in big cities or in the countryside is very safe. And most of the Chinese people are very warm and hospitable, in China have any problem can directly go to the police or the Chinese people around, They will help you. I am looking forward to visiting Guangzhou.
Average cost of the similar service in Australia is $ 50 + ! same as in USA and expect additional 10% " cash " tips . Tipping in china is NOT needed or expected , they all knows the Americans tips on all services , but they ( in China ) appreciate /grateful for given their business to them . Notice , when the cash ( changes ) hand back to the customer , majority of time , in Both hand ....
HI!!!It’s really good to know that you are going to Guangdong!!!!!I will be back to Guangzhou in one week!!!I hope to see you there and wish you enjoy the city!!!!!!!!!!All the best!!(god please let me meet you there 😢😢😢)
the input method is called pinyin which is the english romanization. when you type ni, several chinese characters with that sound will show up and you select one, then when you type hao, ai will sense you want to type ni hao or hello and you can select it as the first option. and when you want to show gratitude, just say xie xie with a big smile and that's enough 😆. you can add 'hen hao', or very good to express you like it.
There is no tipping culture in China, you just need to pay the price on the price list. If someone accepts your tip, then others or the boss may think that he/she gives you something extra, so you give him/her money. So, your tipping may not be a good thing for him/her. As I know, the only person who will accept tips in China is the bellboy who helps you carry your luggage in a five-star hotel.
I have carefully watched every video of you in my motherland, which is very good. I really like your husband and wife, and I hope you can have a happy time in China. Northeast China is also very fun. Welcome to visit Northeast China
This Spring Festival vacation I travelled to Sanya, Haikou. And I got a good treatment in a beauty salon and the lady there introduced the good local snacks to me. I bought two afterwards and sent them one. A gesture of gratitude.
Waiting for his partner doing nails is really funny for a guy: ), Super love Naomi's gigling and Luke's kindness. Highly recommend you couple to go to Yunnan for landscapes. Enjoy your trip and post more videos.
The Chinese input method you see on your cell phone is called Pinyin Input Method, and it is very convenient to combine phrases and sentence associations in input. There are other ways to input Chinese characters in China, such as five-stroke input, nine-key input, handwriting input, voice input, and so on.

That's called Chinese Pin Yin, u type in and Chinese character comes out. Comparison of Chengdu and Chongqing is a great idea! U konw, local people of these two cities have a little comment on each side, u know... :) But both cities has it very own beauty and emsphere.
I'm glad to see that you said you would come to Guangdong next week! I am a college student studying in Guangdong, I must say that Guangdong has a lot of delicious food, but compared to Sichuan and Chongqing will be very light, Chinese people always say “食在广州”, which is “Eating in Guangzhou". It means Cantonese food is exquisite and delicious, which can be called a great enjoyment. Welcome!😃
Also,my hometown is in Shanxi(山西) Province, which is also a nice place with many beautiful ancient buildings and natural scenery. In addition, Shanxi's food is also very delicious, especially famous for noodles, there can be more than 1,000 kinds of noodles.
Strongly recommend you to Guangdong. Please try the cantonese dim sum and dessert . They are really good traditional Guangdong food. Just like hotpot in Chengdu. There is a lot of delicious food in Guangdong. I hope you have a good trip❤
A possible reason why you don’t feel the heat from the grinding tool is because it is still sharp. When the tool bits on the Dremel become worn, there will be heat build-up and hence the warm feeling
chengdu is the capital city of sichuan province, while chongqing is the city directly under central goverment, there 4 city currently in china which directly under central goverment which is shanghai, beijing, tianjin, and chongqing. so u have the picture of the scale between chengdu and chongqing...
In China, it is not recommended to give tips to service staff as their salaries are provided by their employers. In Chinese culture, service staff may perceive your giving them extra money as a sign of superiority and inequality. Chinese people are educated from childhood to believe in equality for all, with no distinction between social classes, and everyone enjoys the same rights. Therefore, you can simply enjoy the service and pay the corresponding fee. Tipping culture is not common in China, so you are not required to pay any tips. Have a pleasant stay!❤❤❤
As a Chinese, what I can tell you is that next time you want to express your satisfaction with someone's service, you can buy a cup of milk tea for the waiter, or buy some fruit for the staff to share, this is the Chinese culture, instead of directly giving money.
I am also Chinese, and I dont think the so-called "Chinese culture" you talk about is suitable here, you go too far. So, have you ever bought milk tea or fruits to express your gratitude to the service personnel just because you were satisfied with the service? And how is this different from tipping culture? How much drinks/fruit should you buy? Is there any standard? Since satisfication is subject feeling and there are various ranking of service as well. And most important, for the same service, serving foreigners can get extra drinks and snacks while it is just average level service for locals. Will the staff treat foreigners and Chinese people differently because of this? Your intension maybe simply good, but it may end up with unfair circumstance and violate the interests of consumers, especially locals. So no need to do these extra "appreciation", just do your job well, pay the right price, and a sincere thank you is enough. Unless it is help that others have no obligation to do, such as asking for directions, and a passerby not only gives you directions but also call you a taxi or give you a ride safely for free, then it is okay for you to treat them a cup of milk tea etc. to express your gratitude.
9:46, the girl is probably using some input method called Pin Yin IME, it's a system to romanize chinese characters by the pronunciation so people can type chinese in smart devices.

Yup. In China, people don't use money to show appreciation (unless you're family or closest friends). If you really appreciate her work, you may give her a small small gift.
I'm really happy to know that you all will be traveling to Yunnan. It's my hometown, and I truly believe it's one of the most worth-exploring places. This region has the most diverse ethnic groups in all of China and the richest variety of animals and plants. In one area, you can experience karst landscapes, plateau landscapes, subtropical landscapes, and more. Whether you enjoy natural scenery, wildlife, or vibrant cultural landscapes, you'll find enjoyment here. The people there are very hospitable and welcome you to visit places like Dali, Tengchong, Shangri-La, and Xishuangbanna. I'm sure you'll love it there. I'm currently studying in Dublin, if you want to know or inquire about anything related to Yunnan before or during your trip, please feel free to ask me
That's a standard menicule service in China with middle range price. They normally are done with heaps of detail attention. Some of them will even offer hot drinks and little treats while you are there. They use good quality product as well and supply way more varieties of colors and effects. Specially with these gel ones, they can last long time. The longest of mine lasted was like a month and half. I haven't had similar level of menicule service over in NZ yet.
Every year, July and August are the summer vacation time for Chinese students, so there are many students and their parents in the famous tourist attractions all over the country. If you want to go, you have to book your tickets in advance.
I believe the pretty lady use Pin Yin on her cellphone. It is one of the romanization of Chinese, and become official romanization system in China since 1956. When computer science came to China, it also take decades to develop many kinds of way to input Chinese charactors into computer, and Pinyin wins at the end. It is now the most pupular input system both on computer and cellphone. And in addition, the best appreciation to her work is your smile and liking.
"回头客“ is a chinese traditional business culture. it means that the best way to express your gratitude for her job is to go back to manicure next time and to recommend your friends(such as your husband) to her store for manicuring.if she see you next time ,she will feel your gratitude, no other is need.
If you go to Yunnan, Yunnan produces coffee and blueberries, pay attention to sun protection. Dali is a good place. To the east of Erhai Lake, there are double corridors(shuanglang), which are more commercialized and have higher prices. To the west of Erhai Lake is Dali Old City, the oldest and most famous place. On weekends, in Dali Old City, a place called "Bedding Factory Art District", there will be many craftsmen setting up stalls, which is very interesting, but only on weekends. Xizhou is a newly popular place in Dali in recent years, also located to the west of Erhai Lake. The prices there are cheap and very leisurely. The most recommended ecological corridor in Dali is the "Erhai Ecological Corridor", which is 50 kilometers long and has beautiful scenery. You can rent bicycles to ride and connect various villages along the west coast of Erhai, making each unique traditional Bai village a "string of pearls around Erhai". I am looking forward to your video and have a pleasant time in Yunnan
@@TwoMadExplorers Thank you for your reply.🥳 If you take a plane to Kunming, you will see many silver greenhouses from the air, most of which are planted with blueberries. Blueberries are very cheap, sweet, and large in the local area. By the way, the weight unit used in Yunnan and Xinjiang is 1000g, which is different from most other regions in China where the weight unit is 500g. In July, you can eat delicious mushrooms in Yunnan, Local people call it "jun zi"(菌子),The mushrooms in the restaurant are all non-toxic. But Yunnan people really like to buy some slightly poisonous mushrooms in the market and cook them at home, because these slightly poisonous mushrooms are really delicious,Proper cooking will make them non-toxic, but not necessarily. The police warn Yunnan people not to eat these every year, but it's useless.🤣 Every year, some people go to the hospital due to mushroom poisoning. Yunnan is truly a magical place with abundant resources. You will have a very pleasant trip. Wishing you all the best😊😊😊

very cute and soft colour, affordable price and good service, nice experience!
Tipping culture has gone too far here in North America. It's straight up robbery now for mandatory 15%+ tips at a lot of places and it's disgusting... China, among with a lot of other countries don't have a tipping culture is actually a very good thing.
Agreed, it’s too much in the west
really crazy these days, everything ask for tips, even take out they ask for tips, some restaurant they don't have 15% as option, the minimum is 18%
@@lilili2471 That is truly crazy
Agree
is it just me noticing or? Seems Naomi is getting more beautiful since your trip in China. Did you also do your hair, eyebrows and some make up too?
Btw Fairy Nails is a good name.
Tipping is just not part of the chinese culture :) People are hired and will be paid by the person/companies who hired them, and tipping will be considered as receiving money privately from customers, which i think may be against the hiring rule.
NO
因为中国人对所有消费者公平
如果有小费
那潜在会让服务变得不公平,服务人员会偏向于给能提供高额小费的顾客更好的服务
这不符合我们的文化!

早安!祝你們旅途愉快❤
Have a nice day❤❤
There is no tipping culture in China, you just need to pay the price on the price list. If someone accepts your tip, then others or the boss may think that he/she gives you something extra, so you give him/her money. So, your tipping may not be a good thing for him/her.
As I know, the only person who will accept tips in China is the bellboy who helps you carry your luggage in a five-star hotel.
那也是服务外宾多了,给就收着吧,不收白不收。一般来说平民的服务场所是没有小费文化的。
I am impressed by how focused the manicurist was.

I have carefully watched every video of you in my motherland, which is very good. I really like your husband and wife, and I hope you can have a happy time in China. Northeast China is also very fun. Welcome to visit Northeast China
Thank you so much 🙂
This Spring Festival vacation I travelled to Sanya, Haikou.
Naomi is beautiful. You look great on the baby pink colour nail.
second, i enjoy watching you guys exploring authentic life in china. manicures are very affordable in China. 😍

The Chinese input method you see on your cell phone is called Pinyin Input Method, and it is very convenient to combine phrases and sentence associations in input. There are other ways to input Chinese characters in China, such as five-stroke input, nine-key input, handwriting input, voice input, and so on.
have you tried Chinese traditional massage? good to enjoy!
for the nailing, you can even find some nice pictures you like online to ask them to custom very similar nails as your picture.
That’s a great idea 🙏❤️
Just enjoy your travel. I come from Shanxi Province, China, but I am pursuing a master's degree in Chengdu. I saw places I often go to play in your videos, and I am really happy. The feeling of living and traveling in a city is different, but you have tried your best to integrate into the local people's lives. I am really happy that you came to China to play and love you❤❤❤

To add to the last message, the diet in Northeast China is very similar to that in Germany, especially pickled Chinese cabbage, which is almost the same as that in Germany. I hope you will have the opportunity to travel in Northeast China and taste the food in Northeast China

Sounds great!

A possible reason why you don’t feel the heat from the grinding tool is because it is still sharp. When the tool bits on the Dremel become worn, there will be heat build-up and hence the warm feeling

Beautiful nails!
Have a pleasant stay!❤❤❤
be your self i know habits chinese never give tips, but if you feel satisfied with their service,of course give thanks 😂
没必要特别强调

Yup. In China, people don't use money to show appreciation (unless you're family or closest friends). If you really appreciate her work, you may give her a small small gift.
Your both look so relaxed today. The nail tech is excellent - great color choice
I'm currently studying in Dublin, if you want to know or inquire about anything related to Yunnan before or during your trip, please feel free to ask me
When you arrived in Chongqing, it was a holiday, so it seemed very busy.

Thank you so much ☺️
@@TwoMadExplorers Thank you for your reply.🥳 If you take a plane to Kunming, you will see many silver greenhouses from the air, most of which are planted with blueberries.

In most cases, only entertainment venues will give and receive tips, such as bars, KTVs, and nightclubs. In other scenarios, it may be considered as a form of charity, and Chinese people are not accustomed to accepting donations from others
