- We're delighted to be back in Taiwan after our trip was abruptly cut short 4 years ago. We kick this series off starting in the capital Taipei City.
✨ PLACES WE VISITED IN THIS VLOG ✨
▸ Di Hua Street
The lunch spot maps.app.goo.gl/CsWyDABQMZv9z... and Ruli Tapioca Balls dessert shop are just opposite each other.
▸ Taipei Botanical Garden
We visited in spring and were able to catch the lotus flowers in bloom.
▸ Hongludi Nanshan Fude Temple
There is apparently a road that can take you to the very top temple so you don't have to walk all the steps up, but if you're physically able to, we recommend doing the walk/climb as when you get to the top and just before you enter the temple, it's quite a magical sight to encounter! We were able to easily get an Uber back down the mountain too.
✨ BONUS TAIWAN TRAVEL TIPS ✨
If you're visiting Taiwan, we highly recommend getting both your local SIM card and EasyCard when you arrive at the airport as it's efficient and cost effective too for tourists.
For local SIM cards, networks are all generally the same coverage-wise apparently but we went with Chunghwa Telecom (the biggest) and Far East One. The variation comes mostly with the duration of your plan. Exit into the arrivals hall in Taoyuan Airport and you'll see many counters that sell the SIMs.
The EasyCard will allow you to use Taipei's trains, buses, and other public transport services (you can buy it at Taoyuan Metro in Taipei's airport) as well as other metro stations and convenience stores around Taiwan.

Yeah! Really would have thought the temple would have been way busier because the view was just spectacular. But I think it is a local spot which is why it was so quiet 😁

Your first Taiwan vlog Is amazingly beautiful😍 I just loved the architecture, the design of their houses, small houses, the dragons, beautiful colors at their wonderful houses, amazing Taiwan food plus delicious, soo yummy 😋
I also liked the botanical garden, the big leaves, flowers, birds as well. I liked their clean roads, busses, U bike as yen said. I'm happy they are also having those all in one card for payments. And yeah I also loved their train station plus inside the train very spacious, clean and comfortable

It is so unlike of Pete to be afraid of hard work (climbing the steps), but main the late evening shots of the the exterior of the temple and its light, is really impactful 🌆

Hahahaha 😅 you totally caught what was going on. The rest of that dessert was shared equally 😂 That dessert was so tasty we went back there to eat it again on a separate occasion.
Taiwan in general is very clean despite some of the buildings being quite old. Stairs in moderate doses is ok but we're both also very lazy when it comes to exercise 😂
We had dumplings for dinner after this day they were very tasty 😊 hope you have a great week too ✌️

I'm drooling watching you guys ate Taiwanese street food especially the sweet tofu one. We only stayed 1 week in Taipei, surely not enough but did manage to went to one of the popular night market. Should Yen holding back on all those bubbles tea lol?
Hahahaha trust me... Yen has not held back on any desserts during our time here. We have had so many tofu fa it's ridiculous. We will be turning into tofu fa at this point 😂😂
