Alishan is stunning, almost primeval 😮❤. The indigenous people of Formosa are the ancestors of the majority of the indo-pacific peoples. Taiwan 🇹🇼 is definitely on my list of places to visit, thanks to your adventures 😀
Awesome to hear that Daryl! Love your description too ❤️ apparently some tribal Taiwanese people and Maori can understand each other which is super cool 🙂
It's fantastic, hope you guys do visit Taiwan one day 😊💚🌳 easy to get around, very safe, clean, and a great mix of nature and modernity, filled with tradition and culture too 🙂
“I actually want to bottle this memory up.” Awesome you got to experience such a moment. At least it’s bottled up in a video ☺️. After a cloudy viewless experience at Fansipan, stoked you guys got to experience mist at mist trail and a perfect sunrise at Alishan. Seems like everything worked out perfectly! Thanks for an awesome, informative series on Taiwan. Your vids will definitely help me in my future travels! Safely travels and enjoy Indo!! Funny we continually keep passing by each other 😂😂
Haha yes! Still not quite the sea of clouds we'd absolutely love to see (we were in the wrong month for it.. apparently it's pretty incredible there too!) but it was still magical and misty! 😊☁️ Hope you do visit Taiwan.. totally seems like a place you could do one of your crazy long walks too 😁 haha yes I was telling Peter how you stopped in KL too! Was saying we were probably in the city at the same time so closest we've been so far lol 😆 one day! Thank you 🙏🏻 It's great to be in Indonesia.. think we'll talk enjoy this trip 😊 final stop before we gotta go back to NZ!
@@PeterandYen I’ve only been to Taipei, but when I was researching Taiwan, it definitely has the potential to tempt me to walk its circumference. Your videos gave me a better idea of the vibe outside of Taipei and it definitely has my interest. First time in Indonesia? Enjoy!!!
@SeoulMan2020 I think it's a really good place to walk because there are lots of convenient stops where ever you go. First time on Java we've only been to Bali before 😊
The Japanese restaurants, definitely the best seat in the house, the view is so peaceful with clear blue skies, with the orange juice for Yen to help with the motion bug, I go for coke packs a punch but not as healthy Zhaoping park, is a place that is going to be on my list after I am bored with NZ,, love the rich colours of green and weathered wood colours, great to look and good for close up pictures and not more The morning sunrise, once there is too many tourist crowding round, its difficult to get a good shot or video, but very early trips are one of the best due to the fresh air and imagine the cooler months, the mist on route to the spot Many thanks for sharing your time at Alishan, just heard songs, but I know now it is more than a song Have a great week
😂 to get us ready for the trip I found the song on TH-cam and played it on repeat a couple of times hahaha. It was a fantastic trip, one of the most memorable forests we've ever been to. The way the plants have grown is just astonishing. Hope you and Joyce are able to visit too sometime 😊 Take care have a great week ahead!
looks awesome. My parents are visiting NZ from England for the first time next month, so revisiting some of your NZ vlogs to remind me of ideas on places to visit :) Thanks as always for all you do!
Oh wow that'll be a special trip! Hope you all have a wonderful family reunion 🥰 will you be taking your parents all around NZ? Both north and south island? 😃
Apparently even more magical with much higher chances of seeing the sea of clouds! I think it gets covered in snow sometimes too so must look incredible but very cold 🥶
What a beautiful forest to explore and the perfect temperature to do it as well 🌳 Funnily enough that big tree reminded me of Tane Mahuta too! I'm so glad you were able to catch the sunrise as well 🌄
Yea after such hot days in Taiwan it was so good to cool off in the mountains and forest 😊 very lucky it seems to get to see the sunrise! Someone was telling us they stayed 2 nights and didn't get to see it.
@@PeterandYen How much Mandarin should I study before going? I've heard that Taiwan has pretty good English proficiency, but as the "designated linguist" in my family I'd like to know what to expect language wise. That's the only thing keeping my wife and I from going. 😅
@avecnayo can you read kanji coz it'll be similar but really all you need is Google translate and you'll be sweet 🙂 in Taipei (current capital) would say more people speak English and perhaps the younger generation but in other parts and taxi drivers less so. Most local food places you order by filling out a form that's in Chinese so Google translate app with the lens option definitely comes in handy. Otherwise it's order by QR code. For our final Taiwan video we made a "things to know before going" so you might find that helpful but yea I think it's pretty easy to get around coz all the signs are in English and Chinese and you literally just need one transport card that will get you practically everywhere so it's super convenient! 😊 You'll see a lot of Japanese influence in Taiwan too since it was under Japanese rule for about half a century. Could be a fun trip for you and your wife 😁
Went there May 2018. Hoping to visit again this January. Thank you for sharing this vlog, gonna show this to my travel buddies and convince them to add Alishan to our itinerary.

Great video and thanks for sharing this! New sub here! I was looking for something about this since we're going to Chiayi and Alishan in December. How was the drive up? I'm worried about the mountain roads for my kids
Hello welcome to the community 😊 the road is pretty windy. Yen who gets motion sickness definitely felt it. The train might be a better option for your family but it is much more expensive and hard to get the tickets.
I will be going to Taiwan with friends this coming February 2025. I was wondering if it's better to book an Alishan Guided Tour or DIY? 🤔 Great vlog btw!!!
Hello, we can only speak from personal experience. DIY was easy and convenient, and we can totally recommend it as long as you're willing to put in the time doing the planning.
Thanks for sharing your trip! I tried booking the train tickets this morning for my fam too, even standby few minutes before the ticket sales opened at 6am BUT just as you said, they run out immediately??!! (And now the train can go all the way up to ALISHAN!) haiz. Could you share how you got from Shizuo stop to the restaurant? It looks beautiful and definitely a good idea to break up the winding uphill journey !
Yea so hard to get those tickets it's ridiculous 😅 we added a Google maps link in the description for the restaurant. It's a short walking distance from the bus stop to it so nice and easy to get to 🙂👍🏻
10:40 it is said that "it's just the beginning", but it's actually the most impressive part of recreation area, as the rest has actually more in common with a garden or city park, than any "ancient forest". This is of course very subjective, and for many it could be just fine, but if you like hiking and expect wilderness you will quite likely be disappointed. Luckily, there are few longer trails that go deep into the forest, which I can highly recommended. I wouldn't spend more than an hour on the main area, and instead just go to one of them.
I enjoyed the vlog! Now, I’m not sure that I’ve been to Alisan! That’s because I remember that Alisan sounded familiar because of a song. The lyrics are about how beautiful women that are from Alisan. So, I need to double check with my sister and Connie if we have been there. 🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha that's such a famous song! We've heard it since young too with parents listening to it 😂 curious if you have been or not now 😆 what did your sis and Connie say?
