2013 F1 cars: “wheeeeeeeeooooooo”
2014 F1 cars: “ehhho”
this comment is so underrated 😂
2026 sounds like a microwave💀
I didn't know you liked Formula 1. Who's your favorite team and driver?
2026: 🚎🚎
“ehho” is the most accurate word describing the sound of the hybrid power unit lol
2013 : tie fighter
2014 : derp fighter
2026 : Henry hoover
F1 sucks now... bring back the 1980's!
The new one sounds like when my garbage disposal broke, just that electric hum.
The V10 era was legendary. You needed ear plugs just to watch the race
Used to piss those guys off, "Noise is energy that's wasted, rather than propelling the vehicle".
"Hey, Steve designed an F1 car!"
"What's it sound like?"
Meep meep.
"You needed ear plugs just to watch the race" Lmao you framed that like it's a good thing
Yeah it is@@damiankrol5879
You know that you still need earplugs or earpro to safely watch f1
Spears wear ear plugs when attending ANY racing event. You need earplugs for them all. Even GT4s will permanently damage a child’s ears in just a few minutes…
Remember your ears are damaged well below the point that the sound actually hurts.
Stay safe.
I want to hear the Doppler effect of the new engine before I decide how I feel about them
Can't hear the doppler effect on something you can't hear to begin with.
Just run towards your phone
And away from your phone, at 300 km/h@@JehovahsOwn
Okay, Sheldon
@@JehovahsOwn or have someone throw your phone past your head.
The new engine sounds like my computer when it needs to cool down from to much heat. The fans are at full speed.
@HanJanssen-pg9jhyeah and the v10s using a shitload of fuel isn't gonna do anything better for the environment
Jesus is calling you today. Come to him, repent from your sins, bear his cross and live the victorious life
@@MrChiper no one cares...
@HanJanssen-pg9jh love it when europeans prove how ridiculous they are. Hey han, we get it you can regurgitate numbers and we're all proud of you for it but they were making fun of the sound not the technical differences between formula 1 eras...
My thought exactly
Red Bull basically recreated what my laptop sounds like after I render an image
I miss the (almost) 20k howl of the V10s.
Renault got to 21k when they were unlimited
Engine screams not howl
i stop enjoying F1 after eddie irvine join jaguar, those race between them, m.schumacher, kimi, david coultard is epic.
What is that new sound? A Vacuum? A LawnMower?
@HanJanssen-pg9jh can you please explain to me why the E10 (10% ethanol) fuel that F1 uses burns faster than regular fuel that one puts in their road vehical. I understand that the the ethanol is a cleaner burning alcohol but am curious if there is a difference in the overall energy yield between the E10 vs let’s say 110 octane leaded race fuel?
it's in an engine room. they are testing the engine in a room that is meant to not be loud from the outside, so you dont have to wear ear protection while monitoring it when it's running.
So basically a loud Vacccum cleaner? Nothing beats the V12/V10 era engine noise
😂😂😂😂
Haven’t been to an F1 event in a while, I see…or vacuumed your room.
@@TheOfficialOriginalChad Projection at its finest.
Nothing beats a 1987 Hoover.
@@NotTurtleish
My point was that vacuum cleaners and engines don’t sound anything alike…so I’m projecting what exactly?
Nothing comes close to the cars of 90’s V12 era, those cars were pure eargasm
Cringe
No thanks, 45 db of hearing loss is enough for me. Noise is energy wasted in not propelling the vehicle. Be happy if I designed one that didn't recycle engine heat into propulsion.
People really be sexually attracted to cars lol
@@spvillanoYou couldn't design a square let alone an engine, arm chair engineer
Nah, v10 all the way! (Ps, this channel isn't an automotive channel, so saying you enjoy anything car related is gonna end up with these non car folks ridiculing you, hopefully they get a real job so they can afford a car someday.... 😂😂😂)
The V10 and V8 era engine sounds can never be duplicated
It quite literally can
I agree. The 2013 engine sound is the iconic F1 engine sound.
The last one sounds like a fish tank
We need the guy who made engine sim to make a reverse engine sim that can decode engine noises into engine geometry.
@HanJanssen-pg9jh yeah I know, I meant it as a joke XD
So you want ange the great to make some random thing?
Like Shazam, but for engines.
2013 was the best tbh
are you forgetting the v10 era? Or the blown diffusers?
Of the V8 era the 2011 season was much better with the inclusion of cold blown and hot blown exhausts. And the V10 sounded amazing with the traction control misfiring and the violent downshift bursts.
The change included turbos. Basically v6 turbo with hybrid. It was much quieter.
lol! 1st word that came to my mind for the 2026 one is... "Vacuum cleaner voice!?!" 🤣🤦♂️
Yet still as fast.
And the ramp up is lawnmower 😂
First thing that came to mind was
Overheating laptop
New thing sounds like a shop vacuum.
V10s were pretty awesome...these sound more like "meeehhhh"
A new Vacuum cleaner 😮😮😮
U sure that wasn’t just someone from the cleaning crew vacuuming behind you
*2069 : "bleeding eardrums unlocked."* 😢
I’m all for nostalgia but most people don’t even consider that EVs or hybrids also reducing noise pollution
It's formula 1! the only one who care is FIA and only because it's profitable for them. A few laps around a track in a different country every week for a few months isn't continuing anything to the problem
@@chefchef183 Sure but I was talking in general. We keep making noise canceling headphones to block out noise. When we should be trying to develop transportation systems, etc that are less noisy.
If you want quiet cars racing, go watch Formula E.
@@streakshooter2357 lol
This. I've ben saying this for ages, but people are more concerned that it doesn't sound "cool".
The best argument I've heard is that they are too quiet, making the harder to notice.
Still though, there are better ways to fix that than having loud-ass explosions going off in the engine.
Nothing better than the V10. Sweet, sweet noise.
How about V12
@@TheFreeSpiritKID decent but not a patch on the V10 scream
True, although that’s about all it has
From 2006 to 2013 the maximum engine rpm from the 2.4 litre V8 was 19000-20500 rpms.
From 2014-2021 they went to a 1.6 litre V6 engine with a 15000 rpm limit.
The decrease in rpm and the drop to a V6 is directly responsible for the new engine sound.
As logic would suggest, the hybrid system itself doesn't affect the sound of the exhaust.
2013: 🗿🗿
2026: 🐣🐣
that "ooh" was a reaction to a toy turning on which is exactly what these hybrid engines sound like... bring back V10!
Lmao no, they’re just worse in terms of everything except sound
3 liter V10, 18,000 RPM, Schumacher vs Hakkinen in Spa...
Best era ever.
2026 sounds like a blender mate
Technically 2013 engines are also hybrids, 2014 onwards are turbo hybrids and v6...
Wanna ear a SR 71 Blackbird going at Mach 3.2?
Yall need to realize that the sound we are hearing is pretty significantly muffled by the construction of the test stand. They can talk normally, where they're standing, they couldn't if the engine noise wasn't significantly dampened.
2013: Ear piercing speed demon,
2014: Ford Taurus revved out,
2026: Cicada swarm,
Formula E: Slot car race track
New ones sound like a table saw.
sounds like my grandma's broken heater / AC
I started watching in the late 80’s. I like the V6 and V8 engine sounds. 500-600 hp engines of the time had a distinct and harmonious sound.
The type of load on an engine has a big impact on the sound of that engine.
what are you on about lol
Louder isn't better. Tonality is better. That's why V10 were king, that major third interval is gorgeous
Yeah, my first race in 2001 just hit different. I remember the next time I was lucky enough to go to a race in 2010 the engines were so crap, I threw the earplugs in disgust. As a true formula 1 fan I went online, complained about it, whined about lack of passing, and still follow it a decade later 😂
I liked the V12 the best.
2013 F1 cars: 🦾
2014 F1 cars: 🥴
I still occasionally pull up a video of a 1980's YZ 125, they were 2 stroke back then, i just loved the sound and can still imagine the smell of the gas/oil mix and the exhaust.
Use high revving low stroke v8 engine with maybe little hybrid assist simple
just make them straight pipe and the sound changes drasticly
I LOVE F1 "Nothing comes close to the cars of 90’s V12 era"
*V10
**90s and 00s

*Fun Fact:* The gaur is the world's largest bovine (cow/buffalo). This huge beast is nicknamed "the tiger-killer" and is the bull used on the logo for _Red Bull_ (Originally _Red Guar_ - in India)
That was a vacuum cleaner!
Also 2026. Here's an AI that 3D prints a whole engine after hearing the sound it makes.
On the topic of formula and redbull, there was a show made for the public in Sarajevo this past weekend. Was there, it was really fun
sound wise, its been all downhill since those 20k V10's
2026 sounds like a vacuum cleaner😭😭
It’s not 2026 yet, crybaby
It was not just about the pitch and sound, it was about the volume. I remember hearing them from literally miles away. I was in the pits with one and it shut my camera down when he blipped the throttle it was so loud.
They need whistle holes in their front fenders, even if it's just a cosmetic addition to pacify nostalgia.
It's not the hybrid system, it's the tiny six cylinder that makes the car sound so bad.
The new engine is a library computer on a short circuit
They're going 4cylinder now?
The engine type makes a huge difference to the sounds.
I like the sound that the BRM type15 has. the 1.5 litre supercharged v16 is very distictive. The car was lighter as well.
Simply being able to sit in one of those is such a privilege
V10 sound was a symphony.
Thumbnail did her wrong
The reason for the sound change is not the fact that they are hybrid. Is because they changed from V8s with 8 cylinders to V6s, with ofc 6 cylinders. That is the main reason. Also the fact that the V6s rev to lower rpm, therefore the pitch is going to be lower, and they are turbocharged so the sound changes even more. But it has nothing to do with the fact that they became hybrid
Altough i absolutely LOVE the V12 - V8 era, i still like how the current V6 engines sound
My dad raced on a local/state level, street stock then prostock, and man the hearing damage was worth it lol I still miss the sounds of the racetrack
GMA T50 Cosworth V12... is the noise we want - F1 in 2026 will be like listening to 20 people hoovering.
My washer machine sound louder than that!!! 👀☕️
Sounds like a blender.
Lucky you.. I can tell you the engine sound pre hybrid era gave you goosebumps..
Why do F1 fans love destroying their eardrums? Personally, I love the quieter engines.
Just put speakers on them that play the sound people like
CLEO,...YOHZ EZ VERY CUTES!!😂🎉
Literally sounds like a fridge with the volume upped
That’s awesome that you got to see that your channel gives me hope for the future
No exhaust sound on a test bench with closed doors.
"Thunder at Daytona" and the film "Days of Thunder" are going to have to be renamed _Whine at Daytona_ & _Days of Whine_
Car racing is part Hard Rock Concert and they just removed the music.
I thought that guy was Nolan before he turned to camera))))
They should just strap 5kw sound systems on each car if that's what the crowd is really there for.
Electric motors should ideally be silent. You'll get more torque from an electric motor than you ever could from combustion reactions.
We'll have hybrid motors, however, until battery density can sustain an entire race.
FOM announced that they expect the cars to be louder in 2026 and to maybe even go back to V8 at the next engine change, so even though that’s still a few years away, it’s looking good
The v10 era was actually painful. I was at the 2006 Japan gp and Singapore in 2008. It was honestly causing headaches and eardrum damage you had to wear ear plugs. And I don’t mean because it was just loud. They were pretty mandatory if you didn’t want to cause damage to your ears!
Speed is what matters. Specifically speed in corners too. Sound doesn’t. For the purists that say it does they’re really missing the point. F1 cars have spent more years not sounding like v10s than they have sounding like v10s.
You should still wear ear protection, even for a rookie rally event, engine noises can be as much enjoyable as they are damaging.
Good advice. Which means f1 has never sounded that great because we had to wear earplugs anyway. It only sounded good on tv 😂
2026 engines sound like the death of a loved one
We're gonna reach a point where we'll need artificial noisemakers for cars just so they can be heard from far enough away to avoid them safely
ok but why does Landos car have a whistle but no one does. it was very clear to hear in the last race
Doppler shift of sound is different from static stationary engine.
My favorite it the Nintendo switch looking steering wheel that pops off
Honestly. I like both sounds. Third sounds nice too
The moment you said electricity i knew it was effed up🙂🙃
It's nice that they are louder, but the pitch is way too low, it sounds like my pc when I open Cyberpunk 2077.
As an F1 fan and a nerd, I loved that ep. Such a wonderful thing to get into the factory of F1's current top team.
"You're allowed to hear it, not see it", Schwarzenegger said calmly.
Were you in Montréal?
The new engine sounded like a hydraulic pump. Very exciting.
I don’t know why but I love your canines when you smile 😅
The most enthusiastic person ever. Gotta be contagious 😊
V10 era sounds so much better than now
Sounds like a current transformer
Sounds like a vacuum cleaner
That's probably a new ride that runs on a variant of *_actual Red Bull_*
I never understood why noise is favorable.
Did the hybrid engines help performance?
Not just hybride. Also less cilinders
For a second it sounded ok
Now do Formula E series
