    Let's not forget that FS-7 does not allow you to setup pedals individually. You cannot have one pedal on momentary and the other on latch switching...

      Right, this is really important!

    • @Boogieplex
      @Boogieplex 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Doesn’t the 6 also let you change polarity of both a/b INDIVIDUALLY? Whereas i only see one selection of polarity on the fs-7. I have an amp that requires A and B to both switch the “tip”. Not sure the fs-7 can do that.

      Oh man, this is a drawback... this is the most compact of the two (and the one I bought) and I need one in latching and the other for momentary... does anyone know any tricks around this?

    • @mimimmimmimim
      @mimimmimmimim 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@guguslive I guess a lil bit of tampering with the circuit would let one to change the behaviour. But still representing the user interface outside of the box without harming the esthetics of the footswitch is kind of a challenge. Still not impossible...

    I’m not a fan of the F-7’s heel toe requirement to push the buttons because it would be really easy to hit the wrong one or both at the same time where the F-6 is two separate buttons making switching virtually mistake proof. That’s a real deal breaker for me in that F-7.

    You dont mention that with the FS7 you have to lift your foot off the floor to operate the A pedal! this is a major problem for older players who can easily lose balance. Why do you guys not give 'need to know' info! I have both and the FS6 is much easier to use but takes up too much space in a compact pedal board for busking. It might be worth mentioning, that the Boss FS-7 will be able to operate without a power source connected also.
    The power input is there to make the LEDs function, and that's pretty much it.

      in only works in momentary mode when off the power source.

    • @rayana4250
      @rayana4250 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The FS7 will only work in momentary mode without power. However, on the GT1 (and other Boss multi-pedals), in the settings you have the option to select the modes of CTL2 and CTL3 (regardless to what the FS7 is set to by default). So you CAN set the FS7 to latch mode without power but it's only possible due to the edit options of Boss multi-pedals. I don't think that option would be available with simple loops.
      I don't own the FS6 so I have no idea how or if this method will work on it.

  • @eeddyaugusto

    Hey. Actually there is an important piece of information missing. FS-7 does work with no power adapter.

    • @rayana4250
      @rayana4250 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Not Expat Joe Depends... By itself the FS7 can only work in momentary mode without power. But with a lot of Boss multi-pedals you have the option to set the FS7 buttons to work both in latch and momentary mode (in the edit/settings). So, it is possible to use the FS7 with a lot of Boss multi-pedals without any power both in latch and momentary mode.
      I have no idea if this option is available in loopers...

  • @maciekomis
    @maciekomis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    the biggest difference is that in fs-6 you can choose the momentary/latch mode for individual switches - you cannot in fs-7.
    also fs-7 only works in momentary switch mode when not powered.
    you guys really need to read the manuals before doing videos.

    • @scotto0010
      @scotto0010 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great point and was one answer I was searching for.
      Also, what happens when you use a TRS (or insert cable) with the FS-6? Does that cancel the individual L/U switch functionality? Meaning, if the A is set to latching and the B is set to Unlatch and you have two separate cables going to two separate jacks, they will work as latching and unlatched respectively. However, what happens when you run the single TRS cable out of the pedal? Does that defeat one (or the other) manual U/L switch settings?
      The other problem is, assuming you don't have a giant pedalboard with a power supply, and you are using only this pedal with another 9v powered pedal, you now have an additional trip hazard on stage because you have to run a power cable to an outlet.
      So in summary, these are both partial fails. The FS6 should have the ability to be powered with AC adapter and the FS7 should be able to be powered by 9v battery. - plus the original problem that you cannot set each pedal independently as U/L on the FS7.

    • @kiskadar69
      @kiskadar69 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @scotto0010:
      1. "However, what happens when you run the single TRS cable out of the pedal? Does that defeat one (or the other) manual U/L switch settings?": no.
      2. "The FS-6 should have the ability to be powered with AC adapter": you can use a 2.1mm x 5.5mm DC Plug To 9V Battery Clip Converter.

    Hi Ben maybe you can help me. I have the rc500 loop station and after watching your video I bought the FS6 footswitch. The wanted the switch so I can simple hit the A and or B or move up in down in my stored memories. I wanted to do this since I have about 50 stored loops and drum patterns which I want to be able to get to hands free. I did not want to change the function of my RC500 footswitch so I would not lose flexibility. I followed your instructions on the video using a balance trs cable, and setting the polarity and function switches as you indicated on the video. I went into the station and memory settings and changed Ctr func 1 to Mem Dec and Ctr func 2 to Mem inc. Then when I hit the fs6 pedal either A or B it would only go up on the memory selection. (5 to 6 and so forth) Both A and B did the same thing. So I kept trying things and so forth and then all of a sudden I got some kind of error message on the RC500 which blinked and went off. Now the pedal will not do anything on the RC500. I changed the setting to start and stop and so forth just to check if it had something to do with memory up and down and it worked for nothing. I unplugged the FS6 and tested my RC500 for normal function and it works fine. I even went in and changed ped 1 and 2 to increase and decrease the memory using the RC500 switches and it works. I then tested the FS6 on my amp directly to turn distortation and clean on and off and the pedal works fine. So it appears I did something to the RC500's ability to accept the FS 6 pedal. Not sure what that error message was but I'm sure that had something to do with it. Any thoughts on what I should do next to get things back to normal and so that I can use the FS6 on my RC500?

    I saw a review of fs6 footswitch as an extension to ga-fc footswitch. The guy said that fs6 would work only in momentary mode (however, actually doing the job of the latch mode to browse presets), and consequently LED indicators on FS-6 would not be active and that you could forget which bank of presets was active, and that's a risk for a live gigging situation. It was a review for Boss Katana MK2 and footswitch options. Is there a way to escape and overcome that bug and actually make the LEDs work despite the momentary mode?

    Hi I have a Boss RC3 and a Boss FS-6. How do I get one FS to start and stop the playback and the other to change memory channel.
    Don't know whether to set latched/unlatched or the polarity on the FS-6. Totally confused, any help would be appreciated.

    Nice video!! Just wanted to ask if you've ever used one of these for channel switching on a guitar amplifier, as I'm having trouble with a similarly designed footswitch? When one of the switches is engaged, the sound seems to cut in/out very drastically. Also, in some cases, the LEDs on the foot switch change but not the channel/voice on the amp itself.

    Can one hook up three fs 7s? Would you use patch cables going from the first fs7 to the next fs7, and so on? Will they actually work if hooked up to each other as if they were pedals? Or does a foot switch have to go to the RC 500? Id be interested in using three fs7s if it will work to use patch cables between them. Let me know. Thanks!

    Thank you so much for your helpful videos. Can you help me with my problem. I'm using RC-300 as my looper and I've pre-recorded backgrounds into the 1-99 memory locations. I would like to use an external pedal to switch between the memory locations. Do you know how to this, and which pedal to use? Thank you so much in before hand!:)

    Thank you for you videos theyre a great reference. I apologize ahead for the rookie question, but does the FS-6 only control 2 channels on the RC-505, or can it be configured to control all 5? Much appreciated.

    I was reading that the FS-7 doesn’t require any power to function. It is simply for the LEDs to function so that imo is another small plus.

    • @kiskadar69
      @kiskadar69 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Without power FS-7 a dual momentary but it's in the Normally Closed (Push To Break) "polarity" only. If you use it as a momentary Normally Open (Push To Make) or as a latching switch, you still need power for it to work.

      @@kiskadar69 gotcha. Ultimately my board couldn’t make the real estate to make this pedal possible. I ended up going with a Hotone dual footswitch that is momentary. Works with no power and is tiny.

    Can you use 2 ns7s on the Looper and have one set to "A:preset up ,B:preset down" and a separate fs7 set to "STOP and something else"
    Or
    With the rc3, if you hold A down it will "preset down" and taping A will "preset up" do you know if the rc5 works that same way? Allowing you to set A to preset up and down(holding) and B to STOP
