    At $699, the Canon T7i has most of the features of the recently announced $2000 Canon 6Dmk2, but at a much much cheaper price. In terms of features to price ratio, the Canon T7i might be the best bang for the buck in the DSLR market right now. Sure there are many better cameras, but the T7i is a great value with very good picture quality. I am pleased with mine so far.

    The ISO range is just a stupid parameter to compare cameras. Any picture taken at 25600 ISO will be useless

    • @Gael32
      @Gael32 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Honestly, he isn't wrong about the processor determining how the pictures look at higher ISOs. The EXPEED 5 processor on the Nikon D500 makes the grain at ISO 25600 look absolutely stunning.
      I can't really say the same for EXPEED 4 at the same ISO... my D5500 always hovers between 100 and 4000. Anything higher than ISO 5000 cropped in looks like it has a fine layer of sand on top of the image.

    I’m gonna save everyone some time here and just say that if you want a DSLR primarily for videography, go the Canon route. If you want to have a DSLR for primarily photography, go Nikon. Simple as that.

    I looked at both, and ended up with the Nikon. The time lapse feature made a big difference. You can do that in both stills and movie.
    Plus, I am a bit biased towards Nikon in general. (I have an F5, an F2, and a couple of Nikkomats that I shot with film for many years!) To me, it is a better photo representation. I do shoot more video these days ( I tend towards Lumix and Black for those), and am still figuring that out as I go along, but the Nikkor lenses and image quality can't be beat IMHO! Again, it just seems like your preference.

    Nikon all the way, also I wouldn't judge a dslr on video capabilities, for it is for stills, and that's what video cameras are for. My vote is neither of these really, but a good refurbished d7200 rocks all the way, weather proofed, more manual controls, more solid, and more professional all the way around.

    I would like just mention the buffer capacity. On nikon D5600 by my suggestion it's only about 256 MB. With SD card Writing speed about 40MB/s ,I can only take 7 RAW pics before the buffer fills up and camera slows down. I highly recommend to use the fastest possible UHC I card with NIKON D5600 . Then your buffer freed up quickly.
    BTW I prefer nikon anyway 😁

    Interesting video, and entertaining!
    I recently purchased the Nikon D5600, why?, I bought a Nikon because my other DSLR is a Nikon (D3300), very identical spec's between the two cameras.
    The reason I stuck with Nikon (over Canon) is because EVERYTHING is swappable between my two cameras (D3300 & D5600), it makes more financial sense to 'Keep it in the family', than buying a different brand camera and having to invest in new accessories/lenses/etc...

    So I'm looking at my first DSLR. I highly prefer the Canon T7i and 77D compared to Nikon D5600. In fact, I thought that the Canon having a guide mode was great, as well as I thought a better UI for shooting. And comparable Canon lenses are cheaper to Nikon's offerings. But one thing is making me greatly consider the Nikon... glass. Specifically, one piece of glass. The 35mm f/1.8G. I can't find a comparable good low-light lens by Canon for close to the price of the Nikon ($200). If anyone has a suggestion, I'd appreciate it.

      It's sometimes better to go to someplace like BHPhoto to find lenses rather than the manufacturers sites. Why ? Better selection, and sometimes easier to find.. Not to mention 3rd party lenses, some of which are better and sometimes cheaper than Canon.. There are some that are close to 35mm f/1.8.. There are even F/1.4's...

    As it showed in the video in year 2017 canon T7i(800d) is almost the same price of Nikon D5600. But in year 2020, the pricing is different. In China I just ordered a Canon 800D hours ago which is 20% more expensive than Nikon D5600. I need to shot more videos and the market tells us that 3 years later Canon 800D takes the lead. Second-handed Nikon D5600 owners say that Nikon D5600 is laggy which is a main reason why I choose Canon 800D to start my amatur career. :D 4k video sets (optical) are still very expensive while not everyone can watch 4K videos so easily. My iPhone 8 can shot 4k footage but I care more about the ISO lens thingy, especially for opitical cameras. Years ago I owned a go pro hero 5 which was stunning but nowadays the latest Go Pro Hero 8 is at the same price of Canon 800D, there is not reason for me to get this action camera if I don't dive (I did sometimes) or just shot videos everyday on earth. LOL. If I want to sell this Canon 800D years later, I won't lose more than the pricing decreasing of Go Pro series. That's the reason why I choose Canon 800D.

    What would be people's recommendation - my last DSLR which I bought years ago and loved but haven't used for a long time was a Nikon D70s. Great way to learn basics. Anyway... my interests have returned to photography and increasingly videography. I've started a new business as a car broker (essentially) and I want to do some car reviews to add to my site and social media presence. For in car stuff I will most likely get a GoPro Hero 5, at least for mounting to windscreen anyway. However for external shots and taking proper photos I want to use a DSLR. Due to my history with Nikon so I am leaning that way. I also generally like the colour and clarity of Nikon more. I have a very tight budget for all this however, and don't really want to spend more than AU$1500 on the DLSR. As far as I can find, the D5600 is significantly cheaper than the 800d. I'm not convinced the AF would really make that much difference to the type of videos I want to make. To be honest, mostly I tend to think the D3400 would be fine, but I don't like the lack of mic input. Any advice would be very much welcome!

    I disagree with your assessment of the "buffer capacity" ... Canon thought it was important enough to write and put in their specs; Nikon decided it wasn't important enough to even write it down. That in itself says something ... Do all Nikon's not state the buffer size ? Just because Canon cared enough to include the spec, and Nikon didn't- then the check mark should be decidedly on the Canon side..

    In many TH-cam videos Nikon D5600 vs Canon T7i reviewers say overall better camera is the T7i, but almost always say you'll get sharper images with the D5600... Please, anyone comment or explain!

    Get a Nikon D5300 or a Canon D700 those are best value for money. These new "upgraded" cameras are not worth the added price tag. And trust me an additional frame per second or a surreal ISO range doesnt matter at all. Spend the extra money on good glass.

      @Gael32 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Depends on what you want to do.
      Unfortunately a "do everything" camera has yet to be released. I was extremely torn between Nikon, Canon, Sony and even Fujifilm when I was trying to buy a camera because I wanted both image quality in photos and good, natural looking AF in videos.
      In the end I had to ask myself, "What am I going to be doing more?" and it turned out the answer was "Taking some damn good pictures." So I got the Nikon D5500 and pictures are great... but if it's video quality doesn't suffer because of the crappy contrast detect AF then all cameras are created equal, which obviously they aren't.
      It wasn't until recently when I got an AF-P Nikkor that Nikon started making me believe that they could do video too.

      I've heard a lot of people say Nikon is better in low light. I don't know anything about DSLRs, since I'm still learning photography. But I thought it depends on the lens, not the camera? So if you get a lens with a wider aperture, it would be better in low light. So confused!

    • @JotaCars
      @JotaCars 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Coco Evenstar a good prime lens gives you more light throught the lens that can capture the sensor,
      but sensor performance is the power of your camera can achieve

  • @hessybear6242
    @hessybear6242 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Both great cameras , there's really not much in them to be concerned about. It's so small a difference .
    Spec wise the canon takes it.
    But remember it's the person.behind the camera that makes a great shot , spend more time on that and either camera is great.
    I used Nikon before and moved to canon !
    Why because it's so much easier to use and navigate functions , Nikon frustrated me often .
    So adding that I am able to get way better work load from the canon faster .

    The distinction and call is easy. Stay where you're comfortable. They're both good cameras that will give you solid performance. Neither has anything that should make you contemplate shifting brands and giving up the familiarity that comes with that. So, if you're a Nikon guy, this is a solid choice. If Canon does it for you, you won't be disappointed. Stay with the one that brought you this far (and take a hard look at Sony when you get ready to step up from this one).

      you don't need to upgrade to a D5600 or anything else. GET GLASS.

    • @HighVibeMike
      @HighVibeMike 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not necessarily looking to upgrade, but to see if cannon would be better for the things I want to do down the road. Like for instance the cannon in this seems to be a lot better for video, with the dual pixel AF and all. Having the D5500 for a good time now I'm noticing the use of it in very low light situations and specifically for concerts is a bit tough getting a crisp clean video since the auto focus isn't the top shelf. If there are any tips on this situation I'm all ears. keeps me from buying another $700 body. But I do agree with getting more glass in the time being. Also appreciate the reply!!

      TFK1331 if you're all about video Canon is the way to go and you will benefit by jumping ship, but in photography nikon with the lack of anti alias filter and better color saturation is superior in my opinion. If you stick with nikon, glass before body.

    • @Gael32
      @Gael32 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, Nikon glass is top notch. You could be using an old D40 and the pictures would still look amazing as long as you're hitching quality on the front of the body and use proper technique.

    I'm thinking about getting into the photography world right now and most likely will by next month. I've had my eye on the t7i for a while but didn't know all the specs till now and mostly because it's the model they always have to try out at Best Buy and Walmart. That being said... I've heard Nikon is far superior in quality than any Cannon from my photographer friend. I'm looking to mostly shoot stills of nature or astrology but also very interested in the video quality I want to be able to take awesome crisp video... I know I'm not in the price range of a 4k camera like the D7500 or the Z7 ii ( which seem awesome!!!) this video really helped out I still cant decide though.. Agggggh!

    I have the cannon T7i as my first real major purchase. Coming from a cool pix small hand held and my iPhone. I have LR and PS to learn how to edit. I got lucky and will say I am going to buy one more lense to round out the set I bought. For every day shooting I don't see a issue with the F4 lenses. But want faster lenses to see what I am missing. I follow Jared and have learned much. Once I get comfy with the LR I may buy into his edits. No matter which camera you have, they both are good starters and you will be happy with either one unless you have full sensor camera. I want to expand out to night photography. From what I see these are ok to start out with, but your gonna want a full sensor camera.

    I’m deciding between the Canon 77D & Nikon D5600 for my 1st dslr, I want a camera body that i can use for years to come and grow with, the canon will cost me over £100 more than the Nikon, however I’ve been to a camera store here in London and been told that canon lenses are cheaper than Nikon, can anyone help me out with any advice thank you!

  • @johnnyriver25
    @johnnyriver25 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It’s easy. I don’t know why anyone says this.
    Nikon = photography
    Canon = vídeo recording
    Of course the canon is better than the nikon on video recording because of the dual AF system. But the nikon is soo good for photography. The colors are better and has better contrast. Not to mention, cannon photos have noise.

    • @rologti

      So for a beginner that will do pics and will do time to time video, what is better to start? Easier to learn, better results, easier to use, and durable....I will have it for a long time.
      The use of the camera will be portraits, landscape, sports (video and pictures), holidays, beach, snow, forests...etc.
      Im looking for the best allrounder between this two..

    • @johnnyriver25
      @johnnyriver25 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the thing is that there isn't an allaround winner between this two. what I'm trying to say is that both cameras are great for both photography and video recording. the only difference is that nikon is better for photography than canon but is worse for video recording. If you are confused and don't know what to buy, it's easy. think of what you are going to do more having this camera. if you think that you will be doing more video recording than photography, in that case is better to buy a canon and vice versa.
