So many of my much loved books of late have come from your suggestions. I read muuuch slower but I'm currently adoring the first book in the Mistborn series
Divine Rivals is so interesting to me because overall the story was a lot simpler than what I’d expected, but I have such an affection for the story and characters. Very interested to see how the story progresses.
So glad you read Lisa Kleypas!!! I started reading Tessa Dare because you you! ❤ once you finish the wallflower’s you have to read the spin off series the Hathaways!
The Wallflowers prequel “Again the Magic” is def worth picking up as well. I almost skipped it, and am glad I didn’t because it ended up being one of my favs 😊
So glad you read the Wallflower series by Lisa Kleypas! The first regency romance books I've read so they hold a soft spot in my heart. Definitely agree w/your ranking of the 3 you've read
I’m on the golden fool and excited to see our live ship traders! However, I am already not ready for the later books. 😢❤ so cool that the serpent and the wings of night is a duology in a series of three of them!!!
I can relate so strongly to you trying to read Fool's Assasin slowly because you didn't want the series to end, and then not being able to slow down after a certain point 😅. I've done with my favourite series. Such conflicted feeling when you can't put the book down, but you also watch with abject horror as the pages left to read get thinner and thinner 😮😂 Robin Hobb is amazing.
Bridgeton OBSESSED with the show and the love this book series and the show is on point and such a cute romance sweet love story and love the characters storyline 🩵🩵🏝️📚📙📙📚🏝️💛💛🏝️🏝️💛🩵🩵📖💛🏝️🏝️📚📚📚💛🩵🩵💛📚📙📙📚🏝️💛💛💛🩵🩵📖📖🩵🏝️📚📙📙📚📚📚📚📚🏝️🩵🩵🩵📚
I read 10 books in June. One of the books I read in June was called DISORIENTATION and I highly recommend it. I haven’t read YELLOWFACE yet, but it seems to have similar vibes to DISORIENTATION. The Book That Doesn’t Burn sounds amazing!
I changed up my June TBR. I still focused on either queer books or books with queer themes: Regimes of Desire: Young Gey Men, Media, & Masculinity in Tokyo, Gender in Japanese Popular Culture: Rethinking Masculinities & Femininities, Case Files of Jeweler Richard vol 2-4, and Atlas Paradox. I also started Fool Me Twice (which I finished Julu 2nd). Also read some BL manga.
I think your perspective on The Bridgerton shown season 2 vs the book, The Viscount Who Loved Me interesting. Coming from a fan of the book series well before the show, I found that season 2 was weaker than the book especially on how it displayed the sisters loving relationship in the book vs making them catty in the show. Along with a couple of other iconic scenes from the book not being displayed in the show. I do love how the show has opened others to reading historical romance, as well as the representation. I highly encourage you to read Again the Magic by Lisa Kleypas, that is a wildly favorite of the hr community and is the "prequel" to The Wallflowers.
I read 4 of these books this month and had very similar ratings. Yellowface 4⭐️ The Book That Wouldn’t Burn 4⭐️ Divine Rivals 4⭐️ Ashes and the Star Cursed King 3⭐️ I also read a few older titles including: And Then There Were None 4.25 ⭐️ The Little Prince 5⭐️ The Parable of the Sower 4.5 ⭐️ The Dragon’s Promise 3⭐️ And some newer titles: The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy 5 ⭐️ The Jasad Heir 5⭐️ Yumi and the Nightmare Painter 5⭐️ The Last Cuentista 3.5 ⭐️ Oh, and one I’ve never heard of: The Scribe 4⭐️
Yellow face was so fascinating and love her writing and and this story is absolutely a roller coaster and it was so compelling love it 📚🩵🩵💛🏝️📙🏝️💛📚🩵🩵🩵📖🩵📚💛🏝️📙📙🏝️🩵🩵🩵💛🏝️📙📙📙📙🏝️📚🩵🩵📚🩵📖📖🩵🩵🩵📚🏝️🏝️📙📙
The Ashes & Star cursed king and fool’s assassin love the story line and the characters so much 💛💛📙🩵🏝️🏝️📙🩵🏝️💛💛📚📚💛🏝️🏝️🩵📙📙🩵🏝️💛📚📚📚💛🏝️🩵📙📙📖📖📙📙🩵🩵📚📚📚📚💛🏝️🏝️📙📖📖📙🩵🏝️🩵🩵🩵🏝️💛💛📚📚📚📚📚💛🏝️🩵📙📖📖🩵
I also read 11 books in May but DNFed Witch King 80 pages in, really didn't like the way it was written. My favorites were Before They are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie, the Lighthouse Witches by C.J Cooke and Mind of my mind by Octavia E. Butler. Listening to you rambling about Robin Hobb is always fun
Witch King wasn't my thing, I was sad about it. It also had Kai describe large chunks of reasoning etc to a side character and as exposition, that frustrates me. I like fantasy to lead me a bit but still keep things somewhat surprising; I struggled with this one and ultimately didn't care. :(
Ive been waiting to hear what folks think about the Witch King... Im curious but not sure its for me. My best recent read im telling everyone about is a near future suspense story called Adrift by Brideau. Amnesia, climate change, found family. Really really loved it.
The book that would’t burn I absolutely loved it so much and the cover is so gorgeous xoxo I read it one of my favorites 💛💛🏝️📖📖📙🩵💛💛📚📚💛🩵🏝️📙📖📖📖📙🩵💛💛📚📚📚📚📚📚📚💛🩵📙📖📖📙🩵💛💛📚📚📚🩵🏝️📙📖📖📖
With regards to Bridgerton, Lord Bridgerton's title is pronounced v-eye-count. Also I personally found the book, The Viscount who loved me better than series 2. Kate is a much nicer character in the book. In the series she is, in my opinion incredibly abrasive and unplesant.
Age of death is another fabulous book I enjoyed it and loved the characters the witch king absolutely loved them so much and couldn’t put them down xoxo 😚 📙💛💛🩵📚🏝️🏝️🏝️📖🩵💛💛💛📙📙💛🩵📖📚🏝️🏝️📚📖🩵💛💛📖📚🏝️📚📖🩵💛📙📙📙📙💛🩵📖🏝️🏝️🏝️📚📖🩵💛💛💛📙📙💛🩵📖🏝️🏝️🏝️🏝️

Great show. Helpful hint: Viscount is said “V-eye count” with silent S. (Historical addict here 🙋🏻♀️😉)

I'm glad you had such an enjoyable reading month! It was interesting hearing about these books, most of them were new to me.
Ahhh. The last Assassin’s trilogy! You are going to SOB SOB SOB through the last books. Beyond perfection.
Alot of great books read! My favourite of June was Into the Drowning Deep

I can't believe you're finally at the end of the Realm of the Elderings, and we can't even mention Bee to limit spoilers...This is a nightmare!
I tried Fool's Assassin, but had to DNF. There was a moment that slogged tremendously for me, reminded me of Assassin's Quest
