    Tomorrow is the 1st day of Phase 2 and that means we can all go out and shoot again. Where's the first place you'll go and shoot?

    Man, you made me miss Singapore. I stayed there for 3 months in 2005 and took some of my first ever images at the Esplanade. I shot Merlion, Fullerton and the whole bay. At that time there was no Marina Sands or the Ferris Wheel. It was my first time in Asia ever, so Singapore bears a special place in my heart. Now as an older man I'd love to return with my D810 and take some quality images of that area. It's definitely on my bucket list after COVID gets better.

    Hi...is using a tripod for photography allowed in Singapore ?

  • @lastlightsnet
    @lastlightsnet 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I recently tried at Louis Vuitton for the first time, but noticed that the platform was shaking even when there is nobody walking into it. I took three long exposure shots during blue hour (all at 128 secs), but none of them came out as sharp as the image on your website (for the first two exposures, nobody came into the platform, and the third one had 3 people walking in during the long exposure [the result was worse]). How long was your exposure? Did anyone walk into the platform while you were shooting? Not sure if I was unlucky with the wind. 😅

    • @ZacharyLaiPhotography
      @ZacharyLaiPhotography  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes it's a challenge to get a stable image. My exposures run quite long, I recently did a 5 minute exposure there with people walking on the platform and still got a usable shot. I don't recommend going for a longer exposure than that.
      Here's what I think will help.
      - Weather plays a part. Try to shoot on days when it's less windy.
      - Use a solid and stable tripod. Make sure everything is tight and the set up does not droop.
      - Apply good techniques, namely use a timer or exposure delay mode to reduce vibrations from pressing the shutter.
      - We usually turn off vibration reduction/IBIS while shooting on tripod, but in this case where the platform moves slightly, VR/IBIS actually helps getting a more stable shot.

    • @lastlightsnet
      @lastlightsnet 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ZacharyLaiPhotography Thank you for your kind advice! I didn't think about turning VR/IBIS on, but that's a good idea! Besides, I could've shot two photos (one long exposure and one fast shutter speed for buildings) and merge later. 😅 I'm always a "single shot" guy, but combing two photos is also a solution here. I'll soon go back and try again, thanks!

    Hi Zachary, I am visiting from the UK in November. Thank you for your video and I will use it as my guide. I am a landscape photographer but don't often pano'. What focal lengths are you typically using - say the images at 1:23 / 1:46 .

    • @ZacharyLaiPhotography
      @ZacharyLaiPhotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of these are shot the Nikon 14-30mm. 1:23 is a pano. 1:46 is around 14mm. Hope that helps! 😄
