It sounds to me that "a quiet seabird turns to face the stting sun" and "and the evening dove is calling". It would make more sense than"evening dawn," after all. No offence, just how it sounds to me.
@@Electricchris1 Well it can't be eveing dawn, can it - illogical - and dark doesn't call.Neither does dawn. It makes a nice poetic contrast to have a quiet seabird and a calling dove. But each to his or her own.

Mark, this song is one of a kind and o so heart warming. You are so blessed❤️
Personally I feel that this is the most beautiful song that Mark ever wrote. In my humble opinion of course😉
I agree,i find it sums life up.

Fitting song for Remembrance Day, moving lyrics and a beautiful performance from a great band.
I listen to this everyday😁❤️

My Granddaddy was a Scotsman.

He should’ve included the pipes to accompany this beautiful, haunting melody.

Mark Knopler was born in Blyth which borders Scotland. Very moving and beautiful
he sings on brother in arms how" his home is the lowlands and always will be"
@@Electricchris1 I'll have to listen to brothers in arms more carefully

Nice tune, but where were the pipes?
no bag pipes in the music but there are pipes if you listen ,with bag pipes this would really hammer tho.
his uncle I believe was a piper in the black watch. ... anyone confirm ?
he probably was as his family are from Glasgow ,and there is a black watch regiment in glasgow
That's true, he wrote this song in memory of him.
