      TheNorthwoodsman1 we definitely got a good dumping at my cabin..worried about break up with the water being super high at freeze up..my cement pad might not survive. Got bad a few years ago people’s docks were floating all over the lake..beavers dammed up the tunnel late fall and caused a lot of damage

    The drone footage is amazing, God’s Country for sure!
    The scene in the cabin was priceless! The Lackey still complaining about doing dishes, he wasn’t complaining about his “pastry” though. It just goes to show the star of the show is Vonnie’s cherry pies! Thank you for the laughs with that, I think we all need that right now.

    Just a little snowmobile ride! Owned one of those contraptions back in the early 70's, longest ride was about 25 miles - weren't many organized clubs and trails back then. Can't imagine doing 175 miles on that old machine of mine these days, or back then! Gorgeous air shots and land shots of the woods and snow. More, more!

    I showed my friend one of your previous videos of how off grid your cabin is and some of the techniques you and the old homesteaders used. He got a kick out of how you melt the snow for water. It never occurred to him this is how life was back in the old days. Thanks for the new videos.

    Beautiful day! it would be cool to know more about your friends machines and gear. It’s so cold I wonder how they stay warm. cool snow cave. Love the birds, it’s cool to know birds eat meet, not just seeds. 🤪

      His gear was beyond my comprehension. He even had special padding like body armory in case of a spill. It was a mild winter day and that made it a pleasant 175 mile ride. Some use electrically heated gloves powered by the machine.

      @@TheNorthwoodsman1 - yup, these days the seats are warmed, there are heaters under the cowling which extend further back along the sides, and heated gloves. The insulation technology is head and shoulders above what we had back in the day!

    You can grab Vonnie and head out to the cabin to do your isolation time, the drone footage shows very clearly that you are at least 6 feet away from other people. Thanks for sharing.

    I thought you mentioned in an earlier video that motorized vehicles aren't allowed on the public land around the cabin,that's why you were bringing everything to the cabin on foot.

      In Minnesota a snowmobile is rarely restricted like ATV use is. The bogs are frozen so no harm can be done.

      These woodpeckers pry under it with light pecking and fleck it away exposing the larvae underneath.

      In 35 years of visits 90% of my firewood has come from around the cabin yard. With the new"Snowdog" I will start pulling in some of that prime firewood.

As I drive to my house, I look at all the falls just rotting away and the clutter of it, but I as, a citizen, can not harvest it. The state forest is 27 thousand acres, and the country land is another 600 acres, but the regulations prohibit it. I'm an old man, and I remember my dad and big brother going to get the wood. Have the Times changed? Yes, your Snowdog needs to be Registered Insured, and if caught fines and penalties have fun, Martin.

      The cabin sits pretty close to the forest boundary so they are not on my property. A few are on mine and as they die they are not replaced and cut if looking iffy.

      TheNorthwoodsman1 But it certainly is for a whole lot of others!!! Thank you Martin and Vonnie! Such wonderful and welcomed relief... at such a time as this. However, I do understand everyone’s cup of tea is different. Whatever happened to just a ‘No thank you?’
