    Translation Note:
    The translation done is probably only as accurate as my knowledge of table tennis, which obviously is not much. As such, I have again provided literal translation of the words uttered as much as possible and left it to your interpretation. I have also translated them in the sequence they are spoken, so that the English subtitles correspond to the Chinese subtitles displayed as much as possible.
    My terminology:
    Long: By long, I mean placements that are long and bounce only once on the table
    Short: Placements that are short such that the ball bounces twice or more on the table
    'Push': Literal translation of the Chinese word, 'push', different from the push stroke

    Most people see- "Ma Long's Instructional"
    A few other people see- "Instructional to make you the world's best table tennis player"
    I simply don't understand why this hasn't reached a million views yet.

    • @InXLsisDeo
      @InXLsisDeo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because noone knows who the world's best player is. And the chinese don't watch youtube (which is blocked), but the chinese equivalent.

    • @disfunctionallydebilitated2912
      @disfunctionallydebilitated2912 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +InXLsisDeo I know, I know, and I know. All I'm saying is that this video should have more views because it's excellent. No need for your explanation, thank-you

    • @disfunctionallydebilitated2912
      @disfunctionallydebilitated2912 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +InXLsisDeo Besides, Ma Long vs Fang Bo has almost 700k views, so that amount of people should know that Ma Long is the current world champion, yet this video only has 500k views.

      Disfunctionally Debilitated It may be excellent, but if you aren't an experienced TT player, you won''t learn anything since it's clearly targeted at good level players.

    • @JaggedTranslates
      @JaggedTranslates  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      'Side-top' spin is my literal translation of how the Chinese put it. It's not pure topspin, but it's usually returned as if it's one.
      Check this video out
      World Championship Service 2011
      I believe the Chinese male players happen to be serving the pendulum side spin. I guess it's where you brush the ball on your rubber.

      basic side top turns into vicious spin when its short and low to the table.
      The opponent has to reach away from his/hers body. as well as there is less room for error.

    • @thomaskchia
      @thomaskchia 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my opinion, no. The idea behind it is the same (applying a topspin on a ball over the table with a backhand), but the technique is different. The flip that is shown in the video isn't as effective on very heavy spin balls, whereas the modern Lin yun-ju's backhand flick is much more adaptable. The flip shown can still be used, but there are less opportunities to use it.

      @@thomaskchia It seems to be effective for flipping quickly to catch your opponent off guard. The banana flick is more predictable because of all the prepatory movement that goes into it.

      @@noah7477 Yes it is effective as a surprise flip, in fact Ma Long uses it to deceive FZD in the Olympic final: th-cam.com/video/VTCDQYYKA9o/w-d-xo.html. However, the banana is by no means predictable either, the direction of the flick can be varied widely and is effective in that manner too.

    People are looking for a perfect serve but there's no such thing as any schoolchild can usually defent against all of them quite effectively it's smashing strikes that win games that I'm worried about. How do you learn to hit the table when someone like Ma Long is smashing thru the ball like a motherfucker and sends it your way at 200 km/h? Are there any good drugs to improve reactions?

      Of course you did something wrong if smashing is happening.

      I fount it. They provide treatment of nerves with electric shock which increases their condutivity and allows you to react faster.

      LOL Ma Long puts so much spin in his serves I'm pretty sure unless you are a pro level player competing at international level you wouldn't be able to return a single one of them. Heck, in the video you can see many competing pro players can't return them either.
