Everything she said is true. I am currently building a Venetian style dollhouse from scratch and having a blast doing it. A lot of time and effort goes into designing and crafting everything. But what fun!

I will try and describe it for you:
It is three stories and opens up on two sides. I used Arabesgue elements in the facade with two tiers of peaked arches over the windows supported on columns on the top two floors. The ground floor features beautifully carved double doors and a carved panel set into a Morroccan tiled wall. They are made from sandal wood and salvaged from a box I bought in India 30 years ago. The top floor is in an Chinoserie style and an exotic theme permeates the entire decor. It is filled with wonderful things from my many travels all over the world.
It has really come out well, and I am very proud of it.

When you are handicapped and not able to go anywhere outside of your house. I’m building a house into my dreams and I can go anywhere outside in my room with my imagination and have something wonderful to do and look at and I may not be able to rearrange my living house but in my imagination and a doll house I can do anything in a doll house that my heart wants because my doll house is with in hands reach and that makes things Possible for me it’s a hobby that anyone can do and it is a great therapy for a handicapped person to do in their empty days of discouragement because dreams are where you start everything.

I just finished building my miniture house from scratch. Designing it can be just as hard as building it.
I wish I could have started years ago but it’s never to late unless you never start and your never to old to love doll houses I believe that every girl has some kind of child hood dreams inside of them and building a doll houses bring out the dreams to especially when you never really had a child hood this is one fantastic way for your dreams to come true little by little building your own doll houses from your own imagination is from the heart 💜

You can find inexpensive ones at flea markets, thrift stores or online, and then clean them up and start furnishing them. You can make a lot yourself, see Bentley House Minis, or Where the Gnomes Live channels for ideas. Cardboard can make a lot.
I built a Madison Dollhouse and I love decorating it. The rooms look so real I used it on my old business website and nobody ever asked me if they were dollhouse rooms Lol

Completely agree. I would never pay thousands of dollars for a dollhouse. My dollhouses are made from trash and recycled items.

Where do you find all dollhouses?
You can design and build one from wood on your own (a lot of work and planning) or you can buy a Dollhouse kit at your local Dollhouse store, or on eBay or Amazon even. I am lucky I have a store in my city. It's not close, but close enough to get to for what I need. I usually get my kits from them. One time I did find a kit for sale on Kijiji or craigslist, I can't remember, and it was a lady that bought it from the store, then changed her mind about the kit and was selling it for a really good price, new in the box :)
