How YouTube changed my life (with less than 500 subscribers) 🌈 My YouTube Journey

- Hi Everybody!
This week's video is really special to me! I have wanted to share my TH-cam journey and how it's influenced my life, even though I'm not yet monetized nor do I have a huge following. Starting a youtube channel has been an overwhelmingly positive experience for me. I was concerned I was too old, or not interesting enough or not good enough at art. At first I thought I needed to figure it all before I started but I’m proud to say I didn’t wait for perfection to start. I found that like most things in life….. it often works best to not overthink it, jump in and just go for it. I’ve learned so much over these last 3 years about myself and it would have been such a waste to wait until I thought I knew everything to start and not get to learn so much about myself. I have also learned in this time what it takes to create a channel and build a community. The only way I could have learned all that is by doing….so I’m glad I decided to just “do.”

See, TH-cam? Now THIS is a good recommendation!! And it's from a smaller channel, even better! Sorry, I'm very excited, this video speaks to me so much 😭 I'm a few years older than the majority of booktubers and I tend to let my ADHD run on camera, but you reminded me that someone might find it valuable ❤❤❤
Haha I’m so glad the video speaks to you!!! Our age gives us wisdom and we need more representation so I’m glad to hear from another smaller channel. I hope you are able to find your people, the ones who appreciate ADHD run on. I’m hoping they find me too. Haha
Edit: I checked out your channel… you like you are in your 20s…. How old are most booktubers?
@@heatherinde thank you! Let's be TH-cam friends hehe:)
I'm 30 years old, Most booktubers are in their early twenties or even younger, and there's a niche forming of "older booktube" and I'm not on board for this separation.
Okay that is strange to hear. I would not have thought books were only for people in their 20s haha. You learn something new everyday. Good luck finding your way. I think the whole “niche” thing is somewhat problematic.
@@heatherinde i agree! Thank you so much, I'm gonna just do my thing and hope for the best :)
Thank you!❤
I'm older than you, by quite a bit and here I am, at 67 years of age, thinking about starting a youtube channel. Thank you so much for your vulnerability and for posting this. I don't know how I stumbled on to it, but I'm glad I did. Wishing you much success!
Thank you so much and I definitely think we need more older representation. I hope you do start a channel. Post back here if you do so we can all follow you!
@@heatherinde that's very kind of you! I will do that, thank you.
And here I thought at 40 it’s too late. We can do this!!
@@prescillagcon haha! You are still a youngster! Let's do it!
I’m 70 and thinking of starting a channel too and it is the editing that is holding me back. That and I am an introvert and the time commitment.
Loved this point: "just creating the video sends a message at least to myself that what i care about has worth and is important." Great video thanks!
Thank you. I hope it’s a point that will help you on your creators journey. ❤️
Wonderful that YT is recommending good videos and also from creators that have a smaller channel. Thank you Heather for the video, helpful and authentic!
Thank you. I’m so glad my video found you and that you have found it helpful!
So glad TH-cam suggested your channel. Thank you for sharing your journey. Definitely inspiring.
I’m so glad you found it and found it helpful! Good luck!!!!🍀
Subscribed. ❤ supporting "older" creators
@@MomsTravelTeam Thank you! I just subscribed to your channel, too. ❤️
Yesterday evening, for my BRAND on the TH-cam Channel created for it, called WORK HARD PLAY HARD, and after much trepidation leading up to that, along with a couple initial "takes", sprinkled in with some minor-self-loathing overnite....i finally slapped it all together, rendered and uploaded it as #1. Thank you Heather for inspiring! ✌💜👊
Whoohooo awesome you did it! Congratulations 🎉
@@heatherinde Now, it's on to the next. And then the next, and so on. 👊
I love the message behind this vid. Thanks for sharing your story
I’m so happy to hear that. You’re welcome. 😊
❤Hi! I started Vlogging about 7years ago on and off and a lot of Changes happened in my life that made it hard to Commit. I’m starting slowly back up again and this video is giving me a lot of Hope! We can do it ❤
I’m so glad it’s giving you a lot of hope! You are right. We can do it! Good luck!!!
just became #76 for you and even watched some videos to give you the watch time! my goal is to reach 1000 by the end of the year without quitting because some days it feels hard to keep going when there are no results for your time and effort but i will keep trying to reach 1000 by the end of the year without giving up hopefully i can do it 🙏❤
I just started my youtube channel and felt a bit demotivated because I was stressing on views and subscribers but this video really changed my perspective.
It can be so painful to look at the metrics but in reality every TH-camr started off with 0. Some may have had an easier rise than others but many, many of us take years to grow. I think that’s okay as long as we remain optimistic and just keep at it.
Fellow neurdivergent and disabled art youtuber here! I am so thankful I have found your channel! These points are all so helpful and encouraging, I am also someone that just cannot make videos that aren't authentic to me and aligned, it just does not work 😂. Having boundaries to rest and take care of our health issues is so important. Switching between editing and art making absolutely helps keep me from getting too bored or burnt out❤
Yay! I’m so glad we found each other! I’m also glad that you found my points helpful and encouraging. Boundaries… so important and something I find so challenging to maintain. It’s affirming to hear I’m not the only one avoiding burnout by switching between editing and art. Your videos look awesome. I’ve subscribed. Looking forward to watching when I get some time. ❤️
I'm so happy TH-cam suggested your video to me! I relate so much to your story and we share a very similar "niche"! 💕I too am a creative multipassionate who struggles with disability/chronic illness and I also homeschooled my son who is now in highschool 😄This was so inspiring! Thank you for sharing your experience! 💕
Oh that’s really nice to hear. I know that there must be more people out there like me but I don’t think we are well represented in social media and so I often feel alone. Thanks for sharing what we have in common and thanks for for being here!
Thanks Heather, you are very inspiring! I've started TH-cam at 52 years of age last year, and am learning alot about myself, just as you are. And learning self-acceptance and value. Thank you for sharing. ❤🙂
Thank you so much for your message and this video. This is my absolute sign to get started. I have to let go of the fear that’s keeping me from going through with this. So thank you again so much❤
You’re welcome. I’m so glad I could help! Good luck!
I rarely comment, but thank you for sharing this video. It's people like you who give others permission to express themselves more freely and authentically; therein lies some of the magic of sharing your creativity with others.
I’m really honored that it’s my video you felt called to comment on. Thank you. I’m so happy that is the message that came across!!!! It can be scary to share but comments like yours make me feel like I’m on the right path. ❤️
You don't need permission. Never forget that. Although I agree with the sentiment!
Thank you so much for this video - the "beyond your prime" and being invisible as a woman is something I'm starting to feel, especially in the very ageist society (Korea) I live in. I appreciate seeing women from all kinds of backgrounds and at all stages of life sharing their art and creativity or personal life, even, and videos and hearing voices really makes me feel more connected than the endless curated images of social media overall.
And you saying that you don't like to do the same thing all the time... that really is a lesson to learn. Balance is everything, and videos can celebrate that. I love your art supply videos, but it's always so much more interesting to see the person behind the art.
You are welcome and although I’m sorry you are beginning to feel the effects of ageism. I checked out some of your videos and I’m glad you are out there creating and asking for your voice to be heard irregardless. Mature women have so much wisdom to offer (and I think it’s our wisdom that makes us most threatening to the patriarchy.) I appreciate that you are choosing to share. ❤️ Thank you for taking the time to pay attention to what I’m sharing.
I’m also so glad you appreciate seeing the person behind the art. You are right balance is everything.
I’ve just started my own TH-cam channel about my crochet hobby and I couldn’t care less about how many followers! It’s as you said - the community. I just want to make friends with likeminded people so we can talk all things crochet. I was definitely intimidated by the process and worry that people I know will find my videos … but who cares! Thanks for this video 😊
I crochet!! My content here is travel
I love it when we have overlapping interests!
For me I do care about monetization because I would like to be an independent business owner (working outside the home is difficult as I’m disabled.) However, without the community aspect I would find another easier job from home. TH-cam is an amazing place to find like minded people and learn from, enjoy and support one another. Over time the right people will find your videos and you will have that community. ❤️
just became #3 for you and even watched some videos to give you the watch time! my goal is to reach 1000 by the end of the year without quitting because some days it feels hard to keep going when there are no results for your time and effort but i will keep trying to reach 1000 by the end of the year without giving up hopefully i can do it 🙏❤
Keep up the good content. The channel and subscribers will eventually grow. Wishing you all the best. 🎉
Thank you. 👍🏻
Plus one! 😊
Aww thanks for joining us!
Congratulations! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you and you’re welcome. ❤️
Well done! You showed up and kept going - Love that!
Yes! Thank you! I appreciate it.
Thank you for this! It’s exactly what I needed to hear today ✨ I’m just getting started with TH-cam & still trying to figure it all out. The message in your video is inspiring ✨
You’re welcome. I’m so glad it was what you needed to hear! Good luck with your TH-cam journey. It’s an up and down journey but worth it!
I agree, I just started my TH-cam journey and I’m working on getting better behind the camera and finding time to actually sit and make a video. Dialing down to a specific niche doesn’t seem possible. I enjoy more of going all around so I choose the farm/homesteading/youtube journey life. Little bit of everything and the animals I have. Each video shows I attempt to try to get better. Trying to video with different scenery to add into the video. Seems impossible but doable and I’m learning it’s fun to actually document what I’m doing in the moment.
I think a niche is a h good way to grow a channel but most peoples channels end up changing and being more diverse as they grow. In my case, I’d rather have some basic themes instead of a niche, even if that means I grow much more slowly. Farm/homesteading/youtube/life’s journey sounds like a fun mix! I’ve heard the advice improve 1 thing with each new video you make. Sounds like what you’re doing. I also find it fun to document what I’m doing in the moment.
Love! Love! Love your authenticity and kindness
Awww, that is so good to hear. ❤️ Thank you for sharing that with me.
This is such a motivational video! Thank you for being you and sharing it with us ❤❤❤
Such kind words. Thank you! ❤️
It starts from starting!! Thanks!!
Yes it does! You’re welcome. Glad I could help. 😊 Good luck!
Hello from the UK. I have no idea how the algorithm got me here but glad it did. I don’t usually make it to the end of TH-cam videos but for this I did. Keep up the good work. You have a new subscriber.
Hi! I love the UK (have family there and have visited a couple of times.) My brother in law says I have very British humor. Haha IDK you tell me. Thank you so much for joining me and I am honored that you made it to the end of my video!
This is so encouraging and very timely. I uploaded my first youtube video today🎉.
Congratulations!!! That’s so awesome. Good luck!
Your video has helped to green light me to ho ahead with starting my channel. I struggle with mental and health challenges. I have allowed it to hold me back. At 62, this will be my third career move. I want to thank you for influencing me to just Get Started! 💚
I’m so glad to hear that what I said has helped you want to get started! SO exciting. Can’t wait to hear what you have to share. ❤️
Thank you for this! You basically spoke about every fear that I have. I will do this regardless of my fears. Thank you again❤
You’re welcome. I’m so glad that my sharing my expereince was helpful to you! I’m glad to hear you will be sharing in spite of your fears!
Subscribed! My sons nick name if Fefe too
As a father and husband with chrons disease I can relate to feeling like you never have enough time to TH-cam/ draw this is an inspiring story though so thank you for sharing.
You are welcome and I hope you are able to find moments for yourself to meet your goals/needs. It’s so hard when we aren’t feeling well and we save our best moments/energy for our kids.
Authenticity! That is what I am starting to get to as well. It is probably the most challenging one as well. Showing the vulnerability is hard but it is also liberating. Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome. I think authenticity and maintaining boundaries are some of the greatest challenges for any creator. You’re right though it is liberating.
Beautiful ❤😊 So Great! I love your honesty! ❤God Bless
Aww thanks. ❤️ I really appreciate you saying that.
Get it girl! Proud of you that you followed your heart ❤️
Thanks ❤️
Came across this video and it was exactly what I needed right now, thank you! I would love to see more videos on how to get started
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for the request and I’ll put that on my video ideas list. For now, my greatest recommendation to get started would be to grab any camera you have and just start recording. For me getting used to talking to the camera was one of the biggest hurdles. Good luck!
Thanks for your encouraging words!
You’re welcome!!!!
I started mine but have only uploaded one video because I got sick with Lyme. Im healing now and getting more energy and also the desire to start up now. Thanks for sharing your experience.
That’s rough. I’m glad you are feeling better and well enough to start again. You’re welcome and good luck!
So much of this resonates with me as a creative person who also deals with ADHD and energy. Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome. I’m glad it resonates with you!
Thank you so much!! You just put words on things I used as an excuse WHY IM NOT STARTING. You’re like my version who already did it and here I am still in the dreaming version. Thank you!
You’re welcome. I’m glad to be a positive version of your alternate universe. I hope in this timeline your dream becomes your reality. ❤️
I’ve subscribed! You just showed up on the home page. I also LOVE this supportive community. I’m a fellow creator. Thank you so much for sharing this video. You’re authentic and real and very good at this. I can’t wait to go back and watch your older videos and any future videos. I care! I’m happy to “meet” you Heather, I’m Tracie. Let’s keep going. I’m not into the niche either. I just want to be me and it seems I’ve found another human somewhat like me! Of course different but also like me😂 I love to make art and I’m not confident in it however it’s my meditation. I’m always running out of storage too😳
Hi Tracie! Nice to meet you! The running out of storage issue is real right? I still feel weird about the not wanting a niche thing so your encouragement means a lot to me. Thank you for subscribing. I’ve subscribed to you as well…I’m looking forward to watching you dye clothes. That’s something I do as well but have yet to make a video about it. I hope you enjoy my other videos in all their shapes and sizes. Thank you for becoming part of this community. ❤️ It means a lot to hear I’m authentic, real and good at this…. Those are my goals.
@@heatherinde I’m always deleting after I edit and upload. I’m sure there is a better solution but for now it’s what I do. I’m eating a late breakfast and going to pick another video of yours to enjoy! Thank you for subscribing back ♥️
I’m happy you started your channel-love your videos!
Aww that’s so nice to hear. You made my day. Thanks for being here. ❤️
Came via the algorithm, thank you for this video! I have just started an itty bitty baby art & creative living channel. This came just in the right time for me. Thank you again.
I’m glad the algorithm gods have smiled upon me and brought you here. Haha Thanks for joining me and good luck with you itty bitty baby art channel. ❤️ I’m glad I could help.
You sound like me! Sooo many ideas so little time. When I decide to do something, I jump in and overkill. I now need to slow down because life is starting to get in the way. I love your video! 😊
Thank you. I’m glad I’m not the only one. Haha You make me feel seen. ❤️
I'm 69 and seriously considering starting a TH-cam channel. I love your message about women and older individuals having something worthwhile to offer viewers. Your candid and relatable approach is such an inspiration. So happy I ran across your channel. Thank you - I look forward to learning more from you!
Thank you! I’m glad to hear you are thinking about starting a channel at 69. That’s awesome. Let us know if you do so we can all subscribe and be on your journey with you!
Do it!! I've frequently wished this platform had more videos from older generations. I want to hear your perspective!
Hi Joan, I do hope you start posting ✨ I read your bio and I’m already interested 💪🏼
@JoanCdesigns @Retrosenescent and @LakeGardaDiaries I friggn love seeing the love and support everyone is sharing for each other in the comments! My grandmother would have been over 100 if she was still alive today (she died at 83). 69 is vastly younger than 100 but I when came into the world when she was about 60. I loved hearing the stories she would share about her life and if I could I would go back in time and record her sharing them. One of my closest friends is 60 and I appreciate when she shares what it was like being a young female photographer in New York in the 80s/90s.
Thanks for inspiring all small you tubers like me ❤
You are so welcome! ❤️ Good luck!
Thank you for making this video!
You’re welcome! My pleasure.
YEAH - awesome video, really appreciate how honest and willing to share you are. Sending love and congratulations!
Aww thank you.❤️❤️❤️ Sometimes honestly online is so hard. Vulnerability is scary. Thanks for being with me on this journey.
Thank you!! I'm working on my channel. I'm just going for it! I'm learning and intend to improve (on a budget). Less than 100 subscribers but I'm working on it!
Nice! Good for you. I was at less than 100 for years. I just kept going. You got this!
just became #60 for you and even watched some videos to give you the watch time! my goal is to reach 1000 by the end of the year without quitting because some days it feels hard to keep going when there are no results for your time and effort but i will keep trying to reach 1000 by the end of the year without giving up hopefully i can do it 🙏❤
@@Kaurcreates22 appreciate it! it's daunting. I had more than 60, then lost 5, then gained 3 more. BUT - I've only been more intentional for a couple months. We visit many places and eat amazing foods that I want to share. I'll keep going for myself and anyone who wants to come along. I appreciate your support.
@@MomsTravelTeam i can relate with you on the gaining and losing which sucks but yes you love what your doing so the right people will find you like me and im here to stay and continue showing love!
thats great! and your at 1000 right now congrats! my goal is to reach 1000 as well im at 225 right now hoping the right people will find me before i end up giving up because some days its harder when your dont see results and focus on numbers but i will keep trying to reach 1000 and the 4000 hours hopefully i can do it fingers crossed!
Congrats on the 225!!!! Your got to start somewhere and I remember being at less than 100 for a long long time. I’m someone who keeps going when they should probably give up. It is detrimental in some areas of my life but great in youtube. 😂 However, I have felt like giving up many times. I watched videos about how long it took others to monetize and there is a huge range of outcomes. It made me realize that the successful ones were just the ones who didn’t quit…. So I didn’t no matter how impatient I felt. I’m still not monetized so I still feel impatient. Haha
I’ve always wanted to start a channel since I was 30 since I love photography and been recording since 20 years ago. But being diagnosed with ADHD and Anxiety I just shut down. Now that I am 40 and have a 4 year old I have so many ideas. I promised myself last year I’ll start it but I’m so afraid. This year I’m just getting all this videos about why I should start now. I guess this is a sign from the universe ❤
I’m glad you are getting these signs from the universe. TBH I’m still afraid. However, I know that the more I upload the easier it gets. Each video I film, edit and share I learn something. It’s totally worth it. Let us know if you decide to start so we can all subscribe to you and support you.
@@heatherinde thank you! The more we do it the better we get. That’s amazing. Thank you!! 🙏
I had planned to start in 2017 when I moved abroad. I even bought a new (small) camera. It didn't happen. I moved to another country in 2022 and finally started. I recently got to 1k subs. I don't look at analytics and I don't copy other YTs, I also enjoy this new hobby, in my own way even if it's not cinematic. Oh, I'm also consistent . Thanks for sharing and congratulations.
Congratulations on reaching 1000 subs!!!! That’s awesome that you started and wonderful that you are consistent. That’s my Achilles heel. Tell me how you do it? I have valid reasons for why I’m not, that I don’t think can be changed but who knows, maybe you will teach me something I haven’t thought of. ❤️
@@heatherinde Thank you, Heather. I just see it as my new hobby. I don't want to be like any other YTuber, I don't look at analytics, so I selected a day that was realistic for me to post every week. I haven't purchased any expensive equipment and I am patient with myself and the process. I think I have done well since I started my first posts. I just did it and you can too.
As a 38 year old who's felt like I don't "belong" in any kind of spotlight, I appreciated that pep talk about age. I really dislike that women's appearances constantly need to be the entertainment. I started a TH-cam channel a few years ago and ultimately quit because I hated the pressure to have to make myself look acceptable just to be seen and heard. Now, I'm going to start again - possibly out of pure spite. 😌 hahaha
PS. Your video editing is lovely. Loving the warm autumn aesthetic.
PPS. Fellow ADHDer here. Can relate to the chaotic energy. Forgetting where I was going with a point midway is my MO. I think this time around I might try either silent vlogs with captions or voiceovers. Trying to edit whatever I'm saying into a cohesive thought is toooo much work. 🙃
Whatever gets you started… pure spite whatever haha…. We all deserve to be heard and your voice matters. We need more older representation and although it might take more time to build our channels if we don’t fit the mold…. It’s still gonna happen if we just keep at it. Whatever works for you and inspires you to keep creating, awesome.
Thank you. It took me a while to find my vibe but I realized over time that if I’m gonna spend 30 plus hours editing something…. I want it to be aesthetic as I look at it over and over.
I love to run my mouth but for certain videos that I want to make sure I hit certain points…. I actually use a script and a teleprompter. It’s a lot of work so I can’t say I recommend it. However, if I want to make sure I don’t forget anything it’s worth it. (Like for those video and the next one I’m doing.)
I love the editing process too. You just get into a hyper creative super focused zone where hours just peel away.
Right?!? It can be dangerous. Haha. I know some people say they don’t enjoy editing but I’m not sure why. I’m grateful I enjoy it since it takes sooooo long.
I needed to hear some things here, and I'd like to thank you for making this video and posting it. I'm not always kind to myself and need to remind myself that I also just want to share with people, instead of being the best, and that's okay as well. Deep down, I know that, but I need to keep it on the surface.
II’m so glad you found this helpful. It’s funny that we want things to be perfect or the best when in reality “the best” is in the eye of the beholder. Totally subjective. It’s so funny the beliefs we are taught about not being enough. Good luck and I hope you enjoy sharing whatever it is you want to share.
I love it thanks for sharing! Maybe just maybe I’ll also start mine. In addition we would love to learn how you edit! 😊
You’re welcome and I hope you start your own channel! Is there anything specifically you would like to learn about editing? I will make sure I address it when I make the video.
This is an excellent video!! I can relate to so very many things you have brought up here. Enjoyed it all the way through, thank you:)
Aww thank you for saying that. ❤️ Glad you enjoyed it all the way through.
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Great video!! New artist with ADHD here. A bit older with some health challenges too. And thinking about starting a YT channel myself, so would love to see an editing video. And you’ve gained a new subscriber! ❤
Hi! Nice to meet you and thank you for joining. It’s so nice to know there are other “older” artists with ADHD around. I hope you start your own channel! I’ve subscribed for when you do. I’m working on the script for: How I edit. Are there any specific questions you have that you would like answered?
You are an inspiration to many; keep going.
Aww thank you. That’s something I needed to hear today.
It's really inspiring to hear your message! My channel is very small. I had it for a long time as just a way to share family- or blog-related videos, but for the last year I've been trying to build it up with an art focus -- slow going! But I am encouraged by your message to just be myself and keep plugging along with topics that I want to pursue.
I'm so glad you found my message helpful. I know I won't be everyones cup of tea but unless I'm myself.... the people who are meant to share in my journey and enjoy it with me with won't appear. Honestly I've also learned there is no shame in slow going...I think what's important is that you just keep going. Good luck! I've subscribed to your channel.
Thank you! I'm glad to have found your channel 😀@@heatherinde
Yay for this inspiration! I am enjoying finding small channels. I’ve had my channel for about two years and haven’t done much with it because…life and some other reasons which I now plan to make videos about. I’m no longer letting life get in the way and committing to a video a week for one year. I have one subscriber. yay😂 Haha. I have always been nervous about being on camera because I am blind in one eye. I appreciated you talking about your disability - my eye is one of mine, and I’m terribly self-conscious of it. But I think making videos about that will help me address that. Appreciate your video and glad to have found you!
I’m so glad you feel like my video inspired you. I worked hard to hide my disabilities when I first started making youtube videos. Partly from shame and partly from wanting privacy but I follow so many wonderful content creators who share their experiences as disabled people. They have taught me so much and so I decided to follow that path instead and stop trying to making the disability part of my life private. I certainly feel more comfortable discussing my disabilities than I did before. Good luck on your journey!
I wish you all the best on your journey with TH-cam! Thank you.
You’re welcome and thank you for the kind wishes. ❤️
Great video! Particularly enjoyed what you shared about benefits of being a smaller channel and increasing acceptance of yourself after watching yourself back so much! Best of luck on your ongoing journey.
Thanks!!! Its strange. I never thought I would get used to it but it’s almost like I see myself as just another person now.
@@heatherinde I love this. What a lovely unexpected outcome 🙂
TH-cam recommended this channel. Just subbed it the min I saw the title! Amazing message and motivation about your story. Congrats 👏🏻. I just started my channel.
I’m so glad you found it motivating. Thank for subscribing and joining our community!!!! Good luck!
Gracias! Es justo lo que necesitaba :)
De nada. Me alegra poder ayudar. 😃
Everything in this video is what I have been struggling with pretty much. I've been on a hiatus trying to figure my life out for so long now that I've had a kid and I feel like it's pointless to start on my channel again. Then... a few weeks ago I got diagnosed with ADHD and it has put everything into perspective and really helped me understand why it's been so hard. It kind of feels like something's clicked and I can embrace that part of me because I understand it a bit better, and for the first time in years I feel hopeful for the future. I have so much footage I've recorded in the meantime, that I have no idea how I'll find the time to edit any of it haha!
Thank you so much for sharing this, it really gave me a little bit of the confidence I needed to get the gears going again! All the best!
Having a kid changes everything…especially if you are undiagnosed neurospicy. I’m so glad you have a diagnosis and can now start supporting yourself better. It makes such a big difference. I’m so glad my video has given you confidence and hope that you find your own way of sharing what you have filmed (as well as finding the time, it’s so hard I know.) Good luck!!!
I love this video!!!
Please make a video of your editing process, you are a blessing to so many. 😄🎁 🎀💚♥️
I randomly stumbled on your video and I gotta say, this was so inspiring to hear :) Thank you for making your authentic content and sharing it with the world
You are welcome. I’m so glad you found me. I’m happy to hear I inspired you. 😊
Hi. I just randomly discovered your channel through this video in my recommended. I started posting on youtube last year and have recently come back after a long burnout. Im mentally disabled, so all of the tutorials that mention posting super often are too much for me. I use to post once a week but that made me burnout. Now i post once every other week--so much better! When you talked about self care and scheduling, i was like "yes! A youtuber that actually mentions the practical stuffs"stuffs i have to do self care a lot because my mental disability makes life difficult to handle. Like i woke up from having a bad migriane today, so i know i cannot edit my next video today. I guess i will go and paint instead. Thankies so much for posting this. I will go check out your video about your disability now. Maybe i will get the courage to talk about my mental disability someday.
Welcome back from your burnout and congratulations for moving through it. I’m glad my sharing the practical stuff has helped you. I try so hard to post every week but it isn’t possible without pushing myself past my limits. Thank you for sharing your struggles and how you have handled it. It makes me feel less alone. I’m glad you feel you can paint with a migraine. When I get a headache painting is not an option. I hope you do find the courage to share. Our stories matter, they are valid and we are underrepresented. If you do share please leave us a link to it.
Almost all of people's prisons are self-made. A lot of this comes down to listening to other people. The trick is knowing that you hold the key to your own cell.
I agree. Unfortunately most people aren’t taught that they hold the key, or how the key works.
Boy, did I need to hear your message. Thank you. I’m working so hard at growing my channel and even though I absolutely love the whole process, editing etc., it’s hard work and my numbers are crawling 🙏🏻😂
Your video has made me realize that I’m being really hard on myself.
Nice dance moves btw 👍😀
Thanks and you’re welcome. I think you’re the first person to comment on my dance moves ever. Haha Good luck with your channel and I’m glad I’ve inspired you to be kinder to yourself. ❤️
@@heatherinde lol… hard to believe that I’m the first to comment on those moves hehehe 💃🏻
THIS IS SO WHOLESOME! Was surprised by what seemed like a random recommendation, but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to you. As someone who is also neurodivergent and is thinking about starting her own channel, this was perfectly timed. I love your kind demeanour, pace of your talking, and the fact there's no music?? TH-cam has become such an overstimulating platform, so your channel is such a nice little safe corner in the internet.
Would love to see your editing process, and how you accommodate your disabilities in the workflow (whenever you're ready to share :) )
I hope you do start your own channel. We need more representation. Our voices deserve to be heard. ❤️ I’m glad you enjoyed the no music. I do put music in some of my other videos but I don’t like it myself when music is playing the whole time someone is talking so I tend to use it sparingly for that reason exactly. I’m glad my corner feels like a safe space.
Anything in particular you would looked to see about the editing process? I’m slowly planning a video or videos about how I do it.
Apparently TH-cam liked your video title because it pushed it to my feed today. I enjoyed this pep talk and am more encouraged to make some videos and share them here on TH-cam. I’m into doing art so there’s that. I subscribed!
Haha I’m glad the algorithm liked it and brought it to you when you needed it. I’m also happy to hear that you feel encouraged. That was my goal! I love your handle name “Two Creative Hands.” I’ve subscribed and can’t wait to see what you choose to share. Thank you for joining me on my journey.
Super helpful! Thank you so much
You’re welcome! Thanks for sharing it was helpful!
This is just what I needed to hear! :) Also it’s been so inspiring watching you grow as an artist, and on YT. ❤
Aww thanks. I’m so glad you popped by and that you found it helpful. I’d love to see more of you on youtube. It would be great to see you share your art journey and your Iggies!
It is really lovely to hear your story Heather, you can see how far you have come and I appreciate your honesty and authenticity. I have started my channel 6 months ago, it is exciting and I also feel like it may go in different directions over time the more confidence I gain….baby steps😊🙏🙏❤️❤️
That’s exciting!!! I’m excited to hear updates about your journey and thank you for your kind words. You say I’ve come far but yep….all baby steps….I need to look back on some of my old videos for perspective. Haha. Good luck with your channel.
Thank you so much for sharing your perspectives on content creation. I found it so relatable. ❤
I’m so glad! You’re welcome!
Hi!, I'm from Barcelona (sorry for my broken English) I've been procrastinating for 3 years at least, just to start my TH-cam channel about sustainability, Your video is really motivating, and my goal is to have at least 3 videos published in TH-cam during July. I let you know! thanks a lot
Thank you so much for sharing your journey ❤. I started my TH-cam channel in 2020 at the age of 38, but have been on a long hiatus for nearly 2 years. Now, at 41(almost 42), I want to start making videos again but continue to let perfectionism and comparison get in my way. As someone who is also neurodivergent and carries insecurities about being an older person in this space- I hear you on the camera angles 😆 Your message has resonated deeply. I also struggle with occasional bouts of depression and often feel like people won't want to see me if I'm low energy at times. But I want to be here. I don't see myself represented on YT and I'm sure there are others out there wishing they could see a queer neurodivergent super-geek witchy mom doing her best to make life magical for herself and her family. Thanks for reminding me why I started my channel in the first place.
I’m so glad I reminded you why you made your channel in the first place. I know that our age set is underrepresented and the algorithm might be biased against us, however, I know that that will just mean that things take longer for me. Being an older person I’ve learned patience. Haha Well sort of but I’m more patient than I used to be and although it might take me longer….if I consistently show up…..I’ll still get there. I think a lot of people will love watching you be you. I’ve subscribed now, so that makes at least 395 of us. I get you on the recording in a low mood. I’m do film when I’m feeling low sometimes and when I do I include it because I think its real but its usually in a vlog and its just part of the journey. I usually don’t want to pick up the camera when I’m not feeling happy anyway….so there is less footage of bad moods than happy moods. I think that’s fine if that’s my boundary but also fine when I choose to share. I know a lot of people can relate to not being always happy. Haha
This was in my recommended and I'm SO glad because this was such a wonderful video!! Your style is so comforting
I'm so glad! Comforting: what an awesome adjective to be associated with. I just go with with what feels appealing to me….but you never know how it comes across to others. I’m happy comforting is what comes across.
I’m here creating my own path too! lol
Wishing you the best! I subscribed 🎉❤
Aww thank you for joining the community! Good luck on your own path!!!!
Congratulations for reaching 663 subscribers! Great inspiration! I have the same goal while I’m dealing with my health issues at the same time. Thanks for sharing. Liked and subscribed ❤
Thank you for subscribing and though I’m sorry you are in the same boat with the health issues, I’m glad to hear I’m not alone. Thank you for sharing. I hope you have a successful recovery. I’ve subscribed to you as well.
@@heatherinde Thank you so much for your support! I wish you good health too.
TH-cam suggested your video. I am also a small TH-camr, coming back after an 8-month hiatus. I had forgotten how much I love it! Thank you for the encouragement. What you have to share DOES matter!
Thank you! I just watched your first video. Good luck coming back. Looking forward to seeing what else you share. ❤️
@@heatherinde Thank you so much! Appreciate the support. ❤️
You’re welcome!
just became #385 for you and even watched some videos to give you the watch time! my goal is to reach 1000 by the end of the year without quitting because some days it feels hard to keep going when there are no results for your time and effort but i will keep trying to reach 1000 by the end of the year without giving up hopefully i can do it 🙏❤
@@Kaurcreates22 Wow, thank you!! This is so hard 😂 I’ll do the same for you! I’m trying to make my videos more dynamic and trying to learn. Thanks so much.
My mom says I might be able to start my channel soon !!!
Congratulations and good luck!
@@heatherinde :)
I'm older and have ADD. thank u so much for this video!!
You’re welcome. It’s so nice to hear there are more of us out there. 😊
Enjoyable point of view. 👍
Thank you.
love this!! subscribing!!
Yay! Thank you!
Great video. So many good points! Thank you.
You’re welcome. I’m glad you found lots of good points. 😊Thank you.
I loved this video and resonated with so much of it! I procrastinated for so long.. As you said, if you want to start a channel JUST START 🎉 I am not getting everything right, but am really enjoying the process 😊
I’m so glad this resonated with you. 😊 I’ve heard the advice recently… strive to improve 1 thing per video. I love this cause it takes some of the pressure off. I hope you do start. Let us know how it goes and good luck!
@@heatherinde I have started and it’s ‘slowly’ gathering a bit of momentum. I like the advice of improving one thing per video and I think I am doing that 😊
Thanks for sharing
You are welcome. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate your support.
Thank you for this, I needed to see this, so so much, thank you
You’re welcome!!! I’m so glad you found it helpful.
the almighty algo pushed this to my recommended page :)
Awesome. I hope that's a good thing. haha
Same! Evidently it's working better than I think it does. 🤣
Likewise!
im loving these videos of start now 💗 so inspirational
Glad you like them!
I love art supplies too - but I'm not really an artist. I too have too many ideas.
I honestly think all humans are creative and the title “artist” only comes into play when you choose to identify as an artist. Too many ideas sounds like an artist to me. Haha
I thought you are 20 or something at first .. gosh 😮❤❤
Haha nope 20 was a long time ago for me. I mean I still feel like I’m 16 except with more belief in myself than at that age.
This is so inspiring! I love your style and how it shows through in your video editing :) your authenticity totally comes through 😊 I have a small channel too and continue to approach it in a way that feels most authentic to me. I made a huge pivot at first and it really affected my channel but I’m so glad I followed my instinct :)
Thank you so much!! I’m honored you like my style (and that my style and authenticity shows through.) What big pivot did you make?
@@heatherinde ☺️🫶🏼. I pivoted from talking about what people definitely enjoy, Money, to talking about what inspires me, even if most people aren’t as interested. I knew it would only be sustainable for me if I deeply love what I talk about ✨
Our daughter’s dream since she was 4 was to create a channel, now she’s 10 and we finally committed to making that dream come 2 months ago. As you mentioned Heather it was a very hard decision for us because it is very time consuming but now we enjoy it so much as a family that we regret not starting sooner when our daughter was 4. I will definitely support your journey and hope to grow our daughter’s dream into a successful TH-cam channel. Blessings!🙏
Congratulations on starting! Yeah it is time consuming but also rewarding. Good luck to you and your family.
💖💖💖💖
❤️😊
i love this video... you are very encouraging & inspirational. 🥰 posting sends a message to myself that what i care about has value + authenticity, YES! 🙌🏽 i'm older and just starting also. let's be friends. 🤩
PS. just got to the struggle part... same. same. SAME. literally exactly the same. not even kidding.
Aww that’s so nice to hear. Thank you. Right?!? We can hear everything that comes out of our own mouths so we better say nice things to ourselves. Haha I hope I see you making videos in the future and let us know when you do so we can pop over to your channel and support you.
Okay that’s good to hear. I knew I couldn’t be the only one but it’s nice to hear others have similar issues and I’m not alone.
@@heatherinde i most certainly will 🥰
#895 Good luck🎉
This is beautiful ♥️
Thank you. ❤️ That means a lot to me.
