I did a solid week of research before I tried to cut my daughter’s hair during Covid… I did one snip and realized I was not cut out for hair cutting! But it was only one tiny test piece! I can’t imagine just going in and hacking away.

Well Brad you have inspired me... after 52 years I am going to dye my hair for the first time. Don't worry I'm spending the money and seeing a pro. My hair is mostly black...with some white but all virgin hair. I will not face that bleach disaster! My niece is a hairdresser and she is going to do it ... she told me to prep for 4 to 5 hours. So big breakfast it is! Oh and the colour...blue.

I've still got some leveling up to do before I reach 52, but I went to wild colors too to cover some early grey! I don't regret it at all. Cherry red was fun, and I've been rocking a bright blue for awhile now. 100% love it. Hope you feel as fun as I do once you go blue!

been watching Brad for years and often he repeats his advice everytime (cause we see the same mistakes lol) but his advice about buying toner AFTER was brilliant! never heard that before!
Everytime I watch Brad react.. I am so impressed with his level of knowledge but also how kind he is as he explains what was done correctly and what was done incorrectly and how it should been done from a professional standpoint. Knowledge is power and better hair results😝

I actually went from red to blonde like level 9-10 but it was risky! LOTS of redken and olaplex
I stopped bleaching my hair last year but before that I always did it myself. It was risky and tricky, but because of the type and how much of it I used to have (3b/3c curls) it would have cost me so much to maintain professionally, at least $3-400 estimated per treatment with bleach and "fashion colors" plus heaven forbid I wanted it styled instead of leaving with my head soaking wet, to go home to my own expensive styling supplies I would still have to pay for in between. Having it done professionally wasn't an option for me so I had to learn. After 15 years though it just stopped being worth the hassle lol. But it can be done safely. 🖤

Brad, I need you to know that in middle school I had a friend convince me that the way to dye my natural red+curly locks blonde was to use clorox bleach. She said all bleach was basically clorox and she had beautiful blond hair. I saturated my hair with it but all of the pain and burning made me wash it out, half wondering if I was about to blind myself.. hair was still red. I could still see but...

One thing I’ve learned about those videos is that it’s just the lighting that makes everything look good bc when you see this people in real life everything just looks horrible, you can see how many yellow spots she has all over her hair

I've watched so many of these "bleach fails" videos to know that if I ever decide to die my hair, ima gonna go and get it professionally done. Ain't nobody got time for messing up so bad I end up watching myself in one of Brad's videos, cuz at that point I should really re-evaluate what it is I'm doing with my time, money and life
When I went to the Sallys near me they actually told me to come back to get my toner (also asked if I knew exactly what colour it would turn out for sure) so I went back and very glad I did! Although my hair goes to very pale yellow really easily 🙏🏼

I'm just gonna straight up tell you right now that blonde ( especially bleach/ platinum blonde) is the hardest hair color to not only achieve, but also to maintain..unless you're a professional or have been doing it yourself successfully for a while and know what you're doing PLEASE DO NOT attempt to go platinum at home.. it's difficult even for professionals to do on themselves. Idc how many videos there are on TH-cam of people bleaching their hair saying it's easy to do at home, IT'S NOT‼️Find yourself a hair dresser you trust to help you or don't attempt it because you will probably lose alot of hair and have extremely damaged and or discolored hair.

my hair bleaches pretty easily but even when I went to a salon already having blonde hair, they couldnt lift my hair to platinum blonde. I'm around a level 9 but hair is still damaged to the point that I dont think I'd ever attempt platinum again.

I definitely can't be as hard on some of these girls for not sectioning well like I used to. When I bleached my hair a few months ago, I started out intent on making Brad proud and then failed to get it right and ended up making a lot of the same mistakes.
I got XMondo Color for Christmas, and I'm so excited to use it! I had to comment and say how much I LOVED the packaging. It raised my self-esteem a lot more than it probably should have lol. All brands need to do what you do.
I’ve bleached my hair successfully before where people thought a stylist did it - what they didn’t know it it took 14 hours total and 2 tones and 2 bleach’s LOL

I used to try to do my own hair all the time when i was in high school and i always fucked it up! I never learned even when bleach made some of it fall out or the crazy patchiness. i’m now 25 & Brad has helped me realize i CANNOT dye my own hair😭 point blank lolol

My mom was my hairdresser when I was a teen and she NEVER listened what I wanted. So, I had red hair, red like a "stop" sign and I wanted my hair to stay red. She put black on my root. The crown around the head you talked about in the beginning of the video? I had it for years. Like, red, a big black crown and red again.
It's not all, I asked her to put red on my black crown, she did it. So, for another year I had red, SUPER FLASH RED crown and red on my head. I was so ashamed but I really liked my red hair and I knew it was hard to have this tone again... My mom is still a hairdresser, but not mine and it's the best decision that I made in my life.
I wondered if this girl had a shadow root done like that for it to lift weirdly on that ONE spot haha.

I've gone to my salon to have my short hair bleached every single month (excluding lockdown) for six years straight and would still never attempt to self-bleach. I just don't know how these non-hairdressers have to nerve to do it.

My roommate had me bleach the bottom half of her hair about a month ago and I was so nervous about messing it up that I stressed myself into illness. In the end, I got her auburn hair to a nice golden blonde and we died her top half dark brown and she looks amazing. I thank Brad for telling me HOW to do it without destroying my roommate’s hair!

My heart always hurts for these ppl that have epic bleach fails. I admire their gusto for sure. I have done some crazy and ballsy things to my hair, but if I ever wanted to go platinum blonde, or any shade of blonde, I would save up and find a good colorist. But I know all about impulse hair dying. I've done that multiple times in my many yrs on this planet. Kinda glad I grew up without so much technology. 😬 I have had many booboos. But luckily never a bleach mishap.

My friend spent 8 hours at a hair dry and her hair was physically crunchy. I’ll stay with DIY thanks. At least if I have to shave my head I didn’t spend $400 on it first.

I don't understand how this happens. I bleach my hair all the time and never have I ever ending up in any of the hair situations I see in Brads fail videos.
Some people clearly run on 2 brain cells, the act of bleaching hair is pretty straight forward, I will never understand why it’s so hard to either suck it up cause you don’t want/ can’t afford the salon. Or that you just shouldn’t do a DIY bleach job unless you know what you’re doing mostly. It’s not a hard process or a hard decision… like these people probably drive y’all, with that poor of decision making, it’s crazy
Biggest common mistake is not using enough. 99% of these things, they either run out because they never bought enough to bevin with or are just too gun-shy. I *think* it's at least a little bit because in every other situation you'd be using bleach, too much is very bad, and bleach *can* go very bad for hair too, just not for the reasons they think, so they're nervy. You can see it in vids even with people who know better but are inexperienced. They kinda handle the bleach like it's TNT and will explode if they touch it too hard and like their hair will immediately melt if too much bleach is in one place.
Kids... buy four times as much bleach as you think you'll need. Your brain is lying to you. Drown your hair in the stuff. What's gonna kill you is the volume, and that's baked in from jump so it's too late now to be timid with it, and how many times you have to process. Do it right the first time.

i have been doing my own hair at home since junior high .my first color was black but over the years i been almost everycolor and mixed colors.i also have bleached my hair alot with not many bad results.i have done perminent,semi,and demi brands i enjoy them all.but please everyone be careful the fallingout is so easy to avoid don't goin blind or listen to store workers do research read directions.
