Man I hated Urban when he was HC at OSU, but I could listen to him break down football all day. Guy is a football genius, and when he breaks it down for you, you can see why he’s one of the greatest coaches ever.
Obviously there is a bit of bantering and fun poking between ohio state's legendary coach and michigan's legendary Heisman. But the maturity and mutual professionalism is awesome for everyone
I'm a michigan fan but also a college football fan. Urban Meyer makes so much sense when doing these. I've watched him do something similar on other networks. I never had contempt for him while he was at OSU unlike some UM fans. He's a hall of fame coach regardless of my OSU rivalry feelings. Whichever team lands him next will be playoff bound within 2-3 yrs of his arrival if not sooner. Rivalry aside...much respect!
I'm also a big fan of UM, and despite everything, I'm also a fan of Urban Meyer. I first met Urban Meyer when he was a coach at the University of Utah and had an undefeated season with the Utes. In those years, (2004) the University of UTAH was absolutely NOTHING in the world of college football. Urban Meyer is definitely a super football coach.
As Wolverine fan...it's kinda difficult to bring Utah to be prevalence....Florida n Especially Ohio State (football state with only one major University) not so much
Michigan fans and pundits have said it literally for years that we can't play man to man all the time it's pathetic it took what 5 years for the staff that is paid to watch tape and make adjustments to uhhhh make that pretty simple adjustment.
Nah. At least with Ohio State, he had an argument to come back instead of his health, as in he had an opportunity for the school he always wanted to coach for, as it started his career. Now he's been there, done that, and he does still have that brain cyst, triggered with stress. Don't see him getting back into coaching.
I don't think he's gonna coach again. But for some reason if he was to come back I believe it would be to Notre Dame or USC. Just a felling. I hope he stays retired tho. I'd hate to see him on any other sideline besides Ohio States.
@@markreierstad2418 I wish he came back as purely an assistant coach; with less responsibilities; but focusing only on his best skills. Less work, less stress. But as good as that will be; I could see how a long time HC would have a hard time not getting his way in anything that might be bothersome/"correctable" in anyone else's job. So I am not sure that would work out. But if he could make it work, it would be a major boon for whatever program got it. I still have a hard time seeing an established veteran head coach ever being willing to be an assistant without ultimately falling into the trap of wanting to just take over command.
@@markreierstad2418 well he could've "coach anywhere" before Florida...... the high speculation is USC every program he's gone to has high recruiting with the exception to Utah
That was more personnel than coaching, he had just lost a ton of guys from the national title team the year before and was playing with mostly freshmen and sophomores that year.
Geoffrey Wilson no that’s the other way around, we beat his title team with Tebow before they won, they went in the win the title and we went 3-9 with RichRod
@@aaronstark1969 I'm not talking about the following year, Florida won the national title in 2006 and lost almost the entire starting lineup before the start of the '07 season. Tebow and Harvin were able to carry the offense for most of the year but the defense was a mess... they returned 2 starters from the '06 title team.
Mr Clean quarters and cover 4 are essentially the same thing. I would disagree that those routes can be beat vs quarters. Firstly, with a fade or vertical route and having a 2 high safety look you will have safety help for those harder deep throws that have to go over the top and to the outside. As for the slant in a 2x2 the CB can make a in or under call and if there is no vertical thwart by #2 the S can drive on that route and the Will or Sam can now drive underneath. If there is an out route by the #1 the CB can easily play that. If there is out route by the #2 and a vertical by #1 to clear for that throw, the Sam can be an overhang player and definitely get in that passing lane or be there for a short gain. The issue in quarters can be with the RPO and read actions like Meyer says in this video or by a flood or scissors concept where the S eyes can get him to over react to one route while another is open. Just like in the Ravens last game with Lamars first TD throw. With NFL offenses taki from college and high school, a lot of teams are now playing quarters to have those extra guys for the run without giving up anything in the pass game.
Any coach with half a brain and decent athletes can shut down Brian Kelly's offense. Good game by UM, but Kelly was slinging it all over the yard in a driving rain.
Well, they won't be burnt on the crossing routes like last year's Ohio State with this new scheme of defense. But I expect the Ohio State would just adjust their offense to pressure both the corners and the nickle respectively depending on C2, or C4. I certainly don't think this is enough to hold Ohio State out of the end zone too much. But probably at least better than last year, when they couldn't stop nothing :)
That depends. If they're actually willing to change up the defense if it's not working, it could be a different story. That's still Urban's team out there, but I don't think they'll put on an offensive clinic like they did last year...
Do you agree with Urban Meyer?
CFB on FOX name a better analyst than that guy... you can’t. It’s a privilege to listen to him explain the game.
I agree with Charles...a NFL n College HOFer
@Go Blue same
He's still Urban Liar, but he definitely knows what he's doing. You can tell he's one of the best. Period.
@@markreierstad2418 Urban Liar? How so?

That’s Lavert Hill tho, Charles. Not David Long
John McCormick lol that had me confused...had me go back and look at when this video came out 😂.
Calling him David Long is a compliment, maybe?

Charles Woodson is a living legend of American football.

Wodson + Meyer = High IQ
As a Michigan fan I have to say that I love Urban Meyer. He is an amazing coach
Rodney Miller it’s hard not to respect his analysis, I lap it up to, but I don’t trust him, that dirty dog:)
As Wolverine fan...it's kinda difficult to bring Utah to be prevalence....Florida n Especially Ohio State (football state with only one major University) not so much
I can see why he is a Great coach!!! He is a good teacher!!! #comeback

Lugowski for years. Last year. That was the first time you tools started whining about the man coverage.
Whole lot of football IQ between those two legends holy cow
And there you go, Urban just gave away why he beat Michigan in 2018.
Yo, charles i love you bro. That was not david long, that was lavert hill!! Hahaha, either way you are the G.O.A.T GO BLUE!!
I'll be shocked to see Urban Meyer still sports casting instead of coaching next year

Diehard UM fan. Would love to see Urban Meyer back in college football if his health allows. Just not @ Ohio lol
Logan S no shit
Where's the part where Urban tells Charles "I know seven and oh..."
Charles, David Long?
Armen Michael I was waiting for someone to say that.
So who was the better corner, Charles Woodson or Deon Sanders?
Urban has done very well against us but he likes to brush over the 2008 Capital 1 bowl...

Quarters is gonna be used more and more in the NFL soon, may even become common.
MrOshea81 it’s cover 4 and good against deep passes but curls and slants and out routs and even some fades can beat it

David long 🤦🏼♂️
Couple of weeks ago Charles? How about a couple years ago...
Urban Meyer should coach notre dame
It is his dream job i believe. But if it costs him his health I hope he stays away from CFB. Already an all time great
He turned it down once already
Going to Michigan State next.

Probably because they are 8-2 you idiot

How are you typing if you’re a dog
Usually, 8-2 teams ARE ranked in the Top 20. haha you're a douche haha
