Don't know what happened w/ Harbaugh in San Francisco, but their record improved drastically in a short period when he was their head coach. It seemed like the Niners were shooting themselves in the foot by firing him.
He got into with owner ship in particular Jed York. Supposedly harbaugh kicked him out of a meeting and said it was for men only
You're too young to remember. He wore out his team and they were tired of his shit. Reportedly, he was crazy af and lost the team and he didn't work well with upper management and GM.
Also, he was butting heads with GM, Trent Baalke. Jim can be an abrasive personality that doesn't suffer fools.
He and York butted heads and the drama affected the lockerrom. He has since matured a bit .
Kaepernick had a lot to do with it. He and Harbaugh did not get along.
Remember when USC was in trouble, Pete Carroll had to bail and take the Seahawks offer to become the head coach.
So when Michigan was in trouble Jim had to bail and take the Chargers offer to become the head coach.

In the past, teams that simply violated NCAA rules have had their entire season wiped from the records. Cheating is a lot worse than trading some swag for tattoos or taking money from alumni. The pressure from other schools will be too great not to take away the title and the wins from the 2023 season. You cannot have a national champion that was caught cheating. The kids can still keep their rings and say they beat the best, but the school cannot be allowed to profit in any way by the title or the other wins. If the NCAA does like they have in the past, Michigan will also be restricted in the number of scholarships and not allowed to play in post season next for the 2024 season.
