Another newbie here. I appreciate you explaining about the cinch nails. I was literally asking myself, "I wonder what keeps the nail points from sticking through"?
I'm really enjoying your content. It takes me back to the early 1960's when I was a young boy, getting metal taps on my shoes at Mason Shoe Repair on Logan Street in Louisville, Kentucky. He had all the same kind of green machinery you have in your shop. I loved hearing the "kachunk, kachunk, kachunk" of the stitching machine. And the smells of the leather, glue and polish, I'll never forget. Thanks for bringing back the memories!

As an avid collector and spender of money on fine things
I’ve never understood spending more then 100$ on a pair of jeans
      More then 300$ on shoes
Or more then 500$ on a pair of boots
People will actually spend 100$ on a tee shirt that cost 2$ to manufacture, 1$ to ship, and .50 cents to print “Gucci” on
      Its nuts
There are diminishing returns on everything, but there is no added value after a specific point
Gucci and all those big brands make a living off of having no added value
      It’s crazy
I wish I could sell a product with a 90% profit margin, and people not think it’s a scam

An attorney friend of mine has either these or very similar Prada shoes. I offered to renourish the leather and give them a proper polish and he agreed. So I took them home and got to work on them. I quickly noticed that the soles must be glued on. I was not impressed at all. I also was not overly impressed with the leather.

I understand the lesser quality construction of many designer shoes because you are paying for the name, but corrected grain leather??? That's a hard pass. Gucci shoes may be grossly overpriced and not worth what they charge and have fiberboard heels, but at least they are stitched together (the 1953 models) and they use fantastic quality leather. But the Kiowa bit loafer from TLB Mallorca is actually a better made shoe with higher quality materials for a fraction of the cost of a Gucci 1953. Those Prada shoes are an abomination!

Content idea: demonstrate how the quality of designer brands, like To Boot New York by Adam Derrick, can widely vary because they get their shoes from different factories. Old To Boot’s were made by much higher quality makers, like Gravati, with very nice leather, soles, and excellent construction. Most of the stuff today is crap. Ferragamo has 3 different lines (all overpriced) but the quality varies a lot.

I have a 20 year old pair of to boot dress Chelsea boots with really nice leather that can be used as an example. So they farm out their production to various anonymous factories, so you never know what you're going to get. And of course the most money you spend is on the name of the designer.

Let me just say that, and this goes out to your viewers and customers, this is not the first time I see YSL, Prada, Ferragamo on here. Do people just get caught up in the name? Are these on sale or clearance because these shoes are ugly, cheap, and poor examples of footwear from these designer labels. I have several pair from each of these and they are very high quality examples....you have to know what you're picking up guys...where is the taste level at? And then to turn these over to have them worked on. These are not typical Prada...those previous [boots?] several months back from Saint Laurent Paris were horrible. Anybody and EVERYBODY makes great stuff and crap...the label and the box shouldnt blind your ability to select great stuff....that lies in the individual for crying out loud....lol.

They probably end up being the lower end models and go on sale as you said.
Edit: that being said the sale price is still probably really expensive compared to a quality product that can be had for way less.

I agree that many brands can make a higher quality line. With that being said, we will definitely hold firm on the fact that anyone buying shoes from a designer (excluding Ralph Lauren, in many cases) is usually overpaying for what they’re getting. The best shoes on the market are usually made by “shoe makers”. Ralph Lauren often partners with amazing shoe makers like Crockett & Jones or others. Again, not knocking any designer shoes you’ve purchased. I own a pair of Gucci horsebit loafers. Amazing leather uppers and they feel great on my feet. Are they worth the price tag? Absolutely not.

Can't say I'm surprised. Too many times, you pay for the name and what you get just ain't worth it. People don't mind spending money if they at least get value for it--which didn't happen here.

What makes them cost that amount of money is the brand, not the quaility of the shoe itself, which is a shame,so totally not worth it,sometimes you both should look more into the vintage or second hand shoes

That codes doesn’t even get 5% off.

It should provide an additional 5% off of the sale they’re already running.

Well done, Gents. You improved an overpriced pair of shoes. Too bad the quality does not stand up to the name.

Soooo many crap items that cost waaaay too much. And, they are narrow toe crushers. I saw the $10 2nd hand store price. Good to ‘pay it forward’ and bless someone with new-ish shoes. Karma.

All of the higher end name brands are a ripoff price wise compared to the actual quality of the products used.

How dare you put a Prada logo back in those shoes you rebuilt. Yep I'm having a laugh. You made them so much better than they were originally. They are still ugly, but at least they are proper shoes now.
