  • In this video, we resole this pair of George Cleverley suede oxfords. These original soles had worn down completely and were in need of some attention. We take these shoes completely apart and restore them. Time for another restoration!

It always amazes me how you get that leather smoothed back down after blind stitching a sole. Bravo.👏

When I was 12-13 we lived right behind an RC Cola bottling plant, I loved the smell of the cork which was put in the bottle cap, and also how good the aroma of the soda with that cork smelled it was such a fresh aroma, sort of like being caught in a rain storm. The CocaCola bottling plant was across the street and a few doors down but didn’t ever smell anything from their plant.

Don't know how George Cleverley manages to make the edge of the sole so close to the upper, but it makes a big difference in the finished product. Good video. Previous comment on y'all skipping the good bits is true; don't worry on how long it is... we'll watch it!! 👍👍

Well the sacrificial welt helps! You should see the welt on a pair of Gaziano & Girling. A re stitch is almost impossible.
Bear in mind though, this pair of cleverleys is nothing more than a Crockett & Jones handgrade with a different label on it. These are a 337 lasted shoe made to handgrade standards.
Not that that’s a bad thing, but always wise to separate cleverley bespoke from their ready made lines, which are all Crockett these days (used to be some Alfred Sargents back in the day).
I have maybe 10 pairs of these cleverly ranges and they are pretty much pound for pound the same as their handgrade counterparts, albeit GC occasionally do more adventurous styles that Crockett don’t!

I think I have 40 pairs of gorgeous Magnanni shoes, in various styles, and if I own a pair in black, trust that I have it in brown as well. That being said, you do such gorgeous art, that's literally what you do. I'm sure the owner will love having their shoes back with that beautiful upgrade!!

Very nice! I’m usually a fan of your work boot videos, but this was very interesting. Good close up camera work and I was surprised to see you split that leather on the sole, so you could hide the stitching, that looked tricky to do! 👍🏻

Just learned something new today...I had no idea you had to wait several hours for the cork to dry. I can see now why you use it so sparingly. It slows down the repair process. Well, I'm sure I speak for everyone who looks forward to when that iron comes out that we appreciate when you do bless us with our hot cork fix!! Thank you! 🙂

Very nice work on these shoes. Attention to detail always seems to add the proper accent to shoes and boots. I've seen and admired that style of shoe but never owned any. Brits definitely figured more was better with the nails. Had a flashback to restoring the 6 oak dining room chairs with new backrest and seat upholstery with my wife. Whomever built them believed more was better with staples and nails....

I'm jealous. I don't have the strength in my hands. Or the tools but I do a lot of caring of my shoes. My person die stuff. People have lost the art of doing any of this and it's so cool to watch the state sales and Resale shops and buy shoe, die, shoe guo. And other things that help me repair little things on my shoes. I also three Fix purses another things that need little things but I would love to do what you do. And it's so hard to find that stuff and if you buy it retail. It's very expensive but I have a little process. I use on purses if fair brown or really scraped up. I die them black. And then I use Ah old time waxes. And I wax them and bring up the shine and then I put on armorall And I give Em away as presents of my daughter. Got mugged wearing the purse. I. Redid that I bought 3 dollars. The the hardware was so good that they dragged her and she weighs 200 pounds like me. We're kind of heavy people. And the dragged her with this purse and the hard never broke They never got away with her purse. 'cause they kept dragging her and dragon her and she hung on and hung on. She got scraped up. They did get her phone . So the old stuff is made so much better. And if you can repair it . I bought a old Louis Vuitton purse right now. I'm trying to redo to sell cause. I, I don't use fancy Dancy stuff. I like the old old stuff, but it's got rivets in that I need to take out and rerivet it. And I've read and done research. And it doesn't seem like you can do that. Cause the ribbits are stamped. Louis Vuitton and you gotta use the same rivets. But it's fun to try to figure out how to do stuff and it's exciting when you take something that looks like people would throw it away. And then it looks like new and people are like. Did you do that? I'm like, yeah. I do a jewelry and shoes and purses. I take old sweaters, old wool sweaters. And I depel them and then I sow up any problems they have and they look like new. I get a $300 sweater for a dollar and fix it up. And I wear them for years. Thanks for your show. Sorry, this was long. When did it just old person that likes the talk

hey guys, i just watched the shop tour video from a while back. I'm trying to set up a home-based lab without a finishing machine, and stitch by hand. Do you know if there are leathercrafting burnishing machines, or some other solution, with enough modular attachments - breaster, horsehair buffer, sanding, etc, available to run necessary functions? Or do you really just, you know, NEED to have that finishing machine? Trying to find a solution small enough for home based use where I can get in hands-on experience at my own pace and on my own time. Thanks guys, love the videos.
