    First thing I would like to do is thank Kirby for sharing this incredible video. Second I’m not going to chime in on the Duke of Windsor politics. That’s for a different video channel. Kirby was spot on in his selection of the Duke of Windsor to discuss fashion. The Duke of Windsor was one of the most stylish individuals of his time and arguably even today. The Duke’s fashion style is one to be emulated. It was first class all the way.

    Such a joy to watch. Kirby you are my men's wear hero. I hope to one day dress with your level of style and elegance. Right now I have to be happy with my TLB's which I absolutely am. I do hope to experience bespoke in both shoes and suit. Thank you for the continuing education. All the best!

    Nice video but hoped you could have shown tighter closeups and talked a bit more about the materials, craftsmanship and style of those beautiful shoes. Say what you want about Edward but man could he dress, everything he wore was on point - he was never afraid of patterns, textures or pops of color without being gaudy. Finally I’m convinced that his shoes including the beautiful pair here served two purposes, practicality and a depth of style so smooth and complete that it had to showcase his footwear (even the socks). That is what I was hoping to see and hear more about - the SHOES !

    Given that shoes are the most functional part of human attire, we need a museum displaying the evolution of shoes at all stages of human history. It would be interesting to see how the craftmanship of shoes reflect the resources and needs of the time.

    Not your fault at all, Kirby (and Dominic said it too), but Edward VIII wasn’t actually ‘King of England’, he was King of the United Kingdom, there hasn’t been a King or Queen of England since 1707 (as a result of the Act of Union). It’s a mistake that many people make, including many British people, but mixing in the circles you do it’s probably best to get it right.

    • @russ9921
      @russ9921 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      He was never actually crowned. While Edward VIII was technically King, his coronation was due to take place the year after his abdication.

    • @ffotograffydd
      @ffotograffydd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct, he didn’t make it as far as his Coronation, but he was King from the moment his father died until the point he abdicated. The Coronation is only delayed in modern times because it takes a while to organise.

    Kirby - You should meet Patrick Grant, owner of Norton and Sons on Saville Row (next to Henry Poole). He is a Duke of Windsor fan. He even has the catalogs from the auctions of the Duke of Windsor's estate. They even auctioned off all of his clothes which were made by several tailors on the row. Patrick may even own some of the Duke's shoes or clothing.

    The proto trainers look very similar to British army tropical boots/shoes and army PT shoes. I think those all had canvas uppers and sort of rubber soles. So look into that.

    • @sukritaggarwal6518

      One thing we are forgetting here is most of Churchill’s footwear choices were necessitated by his physique. For a rather heavy-set gentleman with a protruding belly, it is next to impossible to bend down to tie shoe laces or close monk straps. His famous style of slip-ons and front zipper boots are easily to wear for a man of his physique. P.S.: Can attest to this as a fat man myself! 😂

    Although this is very interesting as an Englishman myself the Duke of Windsor and the Duchess of Windsor are not well thought of in this country probably because of there honeymoon in Nazi Germany , Meeting and staying with Hitler the Hitler salutes etc plus there’s the MI5 and MI6 reports on the possibility of both of them being possible risks and I mean Security Risks there was talk he was linked with Frances early surrender because Germany knew where to attack. However the shoes are excellent and my favourite suit is a Handmade Prince of Wales Check
