What you are calling the re-circulation pump is the reservoir drain pump. The drain pump is at the bottom of the reservoir and visible and the recirculation pump is inside the reservoir and not visible

Yes. I had some leftover connectors from the last time it failed and I replaced that. This time I used some weatherproofing gel in the connection to keep the corrosion from happening again.

The pump you referring to is the water reservoir drain pump, the circulating pump is inside the the reservoir
