I grew up reading the BIble every day, both Old and New Testament and after four years of not reading it at all (apart from instances when I check some things to be able to talk about it and make good arguments) I am starting to forget a lot of what was engrained and it is becoming more peaceful for me. Then on Thursdays I listen to your breakdowns of these books and I am horrified at how effective the indoctrination is in making people not think critically and each time I am more grateful that I managed to escape and see through it all. Thank you, Brandon, great content as always!

The powerful don't get angry, they get even. You get angry when you are impotent to solve whatever happened that affected you. You get angry when something surprised you in a bad way. A god that is omnipotent and omniscient has no reason whatsoever to get angry.
When the writers of the Bible say that God is angry they are passing on to their God the feelings that they have, not the feelings that an omnipotent god would have.

Who do you think needs grace the most from all groups in the Bible?
      Eze:36:16-21:
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me,
      saying,
      Son of man,
when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land,
they defiled it by their own way and by their doings:
their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman.
Wherefore I poured my fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land,
and for their idols wherewith they had polluted it:
And I scattered them among the heathen,
and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.
And when they entered unto the heathen,
      whither they went,
      they profaned my holy name,
      when they said to them,
These are the people of the LORD,
and are gone forth out of his land.
But I had pity for mine holy name,
which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen,
      whither they went.
The 6-fingerd giants in the OT are the ones the seas give up at the GWT event, they can be saved because their mothers were 5-fingerd women like Eve and Noah's wife were. If they are saved, then so are all Gentiles. That means Re:20:4-5 cover Adam and Eve and all their children. The ones building homes in Isa:65 is 'the rest' from Re:20.

      www.youtube.com/@JewsforJudaismCanada
A futurist Christian, like myself, lets the book tell the story. Ge:1-3 and Re:20-22 is a decent beginning and end of this sinful earth. The rest of the book is easier to understand if you read the prophecies as if they all applied to one of the two bruises mentioned, Ge:3:15.
Re:12 is an expansion on that single verse.
'Day of the Lord' is a longer read, the passages that use that term is about 24. Just the ones in the 12 books listed after Daniel is a lengthy read. They are all about the single day when the iron/clay kingdom is taken over by an eternal kingdom.
Part of having more than a little faith in the God from Ge:1 comes with understanding why He does all the 'irrational' deeds in the book. It turns out certain events had to end up going a certain way, so God 'padded the deck' in His favor.
What 'parent' wouldn't go the extra mild to save their child from eternal death?

“Do Christians just not read their Bible?” No, they don’t. I’m still involved with a Bible Study, and just two weeks ago a girl was really upset. She’s been struggling with stuff, and someone online told her she needed to find the sin that was in her life. She was outraged at this person, and how they were clearly misrepresenting God and his promises.
Most the group agreed. A guy who I know knows the whole Bible nodded and pointed to God rebuking Job’s friends for suggesting the same.
Meanwhile, Deuteronomy is just sitting over there promising 3x the curses for sin for generations, and the Deuteronomistic Histories and prophets confirming the curses over and over.

Hello, I am hindu, who has read the Bible, the only lens I know is through Hinduism, and I will say the book is an entire read on the law of Karma from a hindu perspective.
If I wasn't aware of the culture around Christianity, and this book were to be given to me before technology, I would of read all of the old testament as a story of the workings of Karma. God (Brahman) acting through the natural law of Karma, and the Bible just symbolically applying God, as a literal persona for the deliverance of Karma.
Take out God as a being for the deliverance of Karma, and the old testament is a masterclass in Karma. I have shared this with some in my family and shown them the passages, and they all overwhelmingly agree.
Ham gossiping to his siblings about his dad Noah being drunk and passed out naked in his tent, said siblings coming to cloth their dad (in his private tent) and then Noah waking up finding out what happened and cursing Canaans bloodline and offspring for generations... This is exactly what we are taught about the mechanisms of Karma, and lends itself to why Noah didn't curse Ham? Why did he curse Canaans bloodline who had nothing to do with it?
Read through the lens of vengeful father, this is awful. Read through the lens of Noah explaining how this sin (non dharma action) will affect his bloodline through the karmic imprint for generations to come, and then contrasting that with the fate of his brothers Seth and japeth being fruitful and having incredible lives for not partaking on the gossip, but doing a good deeds (for their positive karma)
What lends itself to this belief in thst verse is especially that Noah mentions the outcomes of Seth and Japeth. I woukd expect a vengeful father to just curse and explain the curse to the one he's angry at, but he also tells Japeth and Seth their futures will hear great good.
I looked into the Hebrew words and hewbrew has no word for "may" it's implied, the word is "Yikhol" and it means possibility. Alternative translation that can't be argued through the hewbrew translation (the original word) "Canaan may be a servant of Japeth/shem.
God (Brahman) has an aspect in the divine play (Lila/Maya) called Karma, it is the universal law that continues the cycle of death and rebirth. It's the butterfly effect, except it holds a spiritual level as well were intent matters, and it follow you through lives, not only does it follow you through lives, it IS the SOLE reason you must BE reborn again, you have caused, your own cause of being reborn again through Karma.
Brahman is supreme intelligence in our belief of course, he is all things, and omnipotence is only omnipotence if he can create a rock that is unmovable. If he is omnipotent however he should he able to move the rock, but also not move the rock since he created it to be unmovable. The unmovable rock is free will in the divine play of Lila. Karma is its director, and the old testament, viewed through the eyes of Hinduism, is a literal masterclass on Karma.
You have heard the saying "God is bi polar" well in hinduism, yes quite literally. You give negative action, you receive bad action, you give positive action, you receive positive action, and intent is what's most important in Karma.
It's also why you see Cain and Abel story. A perfect story of the power of intent behind Karma being most important. Abel gave the wrong offering, as God had allowed the greens of the earth to be used for food, and not animals to be used for food until after the flood. Abel actually is the one who gave the wrong offering of an animal, but because his intentions were good and pure god(karma) looked with favor.
Cain gave the proper offering of fruit and veggies as God said in Genesis he intended for man to eat, but Cain in his heart had done it for a selfish reason to gain favor. It is the man donating $100 as long as his friends watch him do it.. It's to gain favor selfishly. It's the tik Tok videos feeding the homeless, but doing it for views..Intention in karma is the most crucial aspect.
I'm sorry for this long write up, and I don't knkw if anyone will read it,and sorry for typo on phone. Just wanted to share my thoughts because when you replace God with Karma in the Bible, it becomes a Hindu masterclass on Karma, and resolution of Karma. Great video you have here, thank you! 🙏

@@MrKooderna how, then, would you view the idea that Jesus’s death frees the world from the cycle of punishment for sin and reward for goodness?

    • @MrKooderna

@@Rhewin Thanks for asking me that... Jesus Christ sacrifice is no mystery to anyone in Hinduism, it is direct alignment with what we already know to be true for thousands of years since the teachings in the Rigvedas, and Bagavhad Ghita. So please give me a moment to explain. In hinduism Brahman (God) manifests itself as avatars across the universe (अवतार) These Avatars exist to incarnate on earth to restore cosmic order and the Dharma (righteous way of living) it is known as a Deliberate Descent of Brahman (God) to incarnate on earth and restore order through various means of balancing the collective Karma. Each Avatar does this through different means to cleanse karma and there is 10 avatars who come in sequence. In the case of Jesus Christ, it reads that he is an avatar of Brahman just like the previous 9. The 8th avatar was Krishna, the 9th avatar was Buddha (and, this is no joke, yes the Buddha who man made a religion from, is the 9th avatar in hinduism.) The 10th and final Avatar name is Kalki. Important to note, in hinduism Avatars are born typically born from virgin women. It is a key component. Kalki is said to return in the future riding a white horse, and he will not announce himself as kalki, becsuse he is for the whole world, not for just India, and he will not say he is kalki, he will show the world he is kalki. He will become the king, a "Turner Of The Wheel", and one who triumphs. He will eliminate all barbarians and robbers, end adharma, restart dharma, and save the good people. After that, humanity will be transformed and the golden age will begin. He is estimated to come at the end of this Kali Yuga, which is 400,000 years from now when the dharma has been lost and the earth is all hateful in its heart. This future is known because Brahman exists outside of space time, and so in the same moment of creation, he knows all of creation future. However free will simultaneously exists and truly is free will, and were karma comes in. So brahman both knows if you will generate negative Karma (sin) and also did not make you do it, simultaneously. This is due to existence outside of time space. Brahman sees your actions and their end results in the same moment, there is no start then finish, or here and there in brahman.
If hindu read Bible, it is quick to see Jesus christ could be the first incarnation of Kalki, especially since revelations explains his coming back in the future on horse from the clouds, and explains almost same thing as the Rigveda does about Kalki. It is known that enduring immense suffering purifies the collective Karma of the earth. There are beings who have undergone immense suffering and purified the collective karma.
This results not in the cessation of samsara (the cycle of death and rebirth) but it does reduce the amount of rebirths required to attain Moksha (liberation from rebirth and merging with Brahman, basically your consciousness become the entire universe) by Aeons. Yes, Aeons. It is beleived certain suffering beings light and understanding to the collective negative karma if it's dealt with in a divine way with compassion and love and that transmute that karma so that it reduces rebirths required by many many Aeons (in hinduism, everything is a very very, very long time, and the universes goes through cycles of birth, sustenance, death and rebirth, yes universes themselves go through rebirth to continue the divine play (Lila) of infinite creation for eternity.
On the cross Jesus said "lord o lord why have you forsaken me" and the his final words after that sentence where "it is finished". Jesus is showing he felt abandoned by Brahman here. This is known as "the dark night of the soul" Carl jung talks about it, mother Theresa, and many others. It's an experience of total abandonment by God or connected to any source, many through history have described the dark night of the soul, feeling abandoned by God, and going through immense suffering and visions of hell and tortures of humans etc...All have considered it a divine gift that brought them closer to the divine and closer to their union with God (moksha/nirvana) Carl Jung talks about the collective unconcious being purified through this as well..
I believe based on Jesus saying on the cross, he was having a dark night of the soul, and it was one he predicted, and isaoh predicted 700 years before his birth in the old tesament, that the Messiah would be born from God and he would exist to be a "suffering servant" to purify the sins of man" I believe through other experiences I have looked up through religious history and even more recent am through Carl jung, and studies on LCD and DMT from Groff, that Jesus experienced all the sickest tortures of man on the cross. He was a thousand soldiers on the battlefield all dying at once, he directly experienced every child abused or tortured, all of humanities most atrocious sins, he experienced, it the thick of the torture it was so great he said God why have you forsaken me, and then shortly after he looks up and says "it is finished" as he experienced and resolved the collective Karma of earth.
Brahmans avatar Jesus was born as the others were to restore cosmic order and the Dharma, born directly from brahman, and he experienced all the sins man ever created while on the cross in a literal sense, this purified that negative karma so it ended the causes of the sin from that point and stopped Aeons of rebirths from being required to absolve them. The genuine intent of recognition that Kalka suffered for us to restore cosmic order back to it's balance, opens your heart to ask for forgiveness for your part of it and that remorse and intention to do well with generating good karma going forward grants you immense positive karma it does this through the mechanism of compassion for Jesus sacrifice. By a true recognition for the borrows and traumas jesis experienced, being every child who was abused and tortured, and experiencing it all fully, you can find compassion and remorse for your actions, genuine remorse doesn't purify negative kamric imprints, but it does however generate positive karmic imprints on the atman (soul) and help balance out your future lives. However, the Bible didn't say Jesus died for all sins. It says "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many, for the forgiveness of their sins (for purifying their negative karma for them, I experienced the results of your negative Karma, so you don't have to, and I did this to restore balance back to the divine play. So this lends itself that he didn't die for all sins, or all future sin. He died for many, as in the experiences of torture o during his dark night of the soul on the cross, as many as he purified before his physical body died. Cosmic order goes off balance again, which is why future Kalka will return on his white horse.
I'm sorry this was a lot to explain, but it really is a quite easy read through the eyes of hinduism and Karma.

I think to answer your question more direct, using my text above as reference to this answer, Jesus did not removed punishment from sin(effects of karma). Karma is a universal law of cause and effect, but what Jesus did was cleanse the current negative karma of the world through his sacrifice.
This was in contrast to the first cosmic balance of the great flood (an act of Karma, not a vengeful god) this is why it's said Jesus "washed away the sins of the world" it's a reference to the great flood washing away sins.
The Bible doesnt say Jesus took sin away for all future generations. Man says that, but not the Bible. No where is it written Jesus took sin away forever. I believe the Bible (from hindu perspective) I don't believe man's word about the Bible.
Jesus purified negative karma through experiencing the dark night of the soul, he underwent a spiritual consciousness described many times by Yogis, as a dark hell like experience of human past torture etc..and that they are actually purifying collective negative karma by experiencing them in an understanding way. Jesus also made sure to not have his own death create negative karma within him, by saying "forgive them, for they know not what they do".
Truly creating a karma free life start to finish, just like Siddhartha Guatama.
So I show my family this and they start reading the Bible too and are amazed thst Jesus could of been Kalki first incarnation.
In hinduism this is normal for us, we say Sarva Dharma Sambhava which means all paths and all religions lead to the ultimate truth, I believe there is truth in Bible becsuse it resonate so perfectly with karma, but the translation is wonky.

When you described the acrostic structure of much Hebrew verse, I was reminded of a poetic structure within the English language known as abecedarian verse. Line one begins with “A,” line two with “B,” and so forth. I have tried with limited success to write a poem in abecedarian verse and I am convinced that it is more than just technique. The aspiring poet must be moved by some powerful emotion like joy, grief, or even childlike playfulness, but it is more complicated and profound than “The cat sat on the mat.” I just thought I should share this. The fact that is book is so emotional should be a red flag. Emotions are certainly important and not something to ignore, but they also cloud, if not outright block, rationality. Whenever I hear someone claim that some event was "God's punishment for [X]," particularly for events like 9/11, it is rather suspicious how this supposedly just and loving God decided to use some perceived evil entity (nevermind the detail that nonbelievers are supposed to be evil, according to beliefs like this) and not exactly dole out some sort of punishment for this entity for anything they did before or during (and for most, if not all, supposed instances, even after) their use.
It is almost as if God either does not exist or is the most evil... there are so many terms I could use here, so I will let you take your pick. And the whole "It's the Old Testament" excuse falls flat when you then point how God does not exactly change for the New, especially with the one book at the end of the Bible that I rather enjoying pointing out stuff from that directly contradicts their assertions.
So can it really be any surprise why not many Christians read the Bible, or why they only read (and I am being generous with "read" here) whatever was cherry-picked for that day at the special building where they gather at least once a week to compare clothing? Yeah, the Bible is not exactly that good of a PR campaign for God, and Lamentations showcases this fact.

So no "the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want, surely goodness and mercy shall follow me the rest of my days" here. This is raw honesty. The translation of Isaiah 1:5-6 in the 1970 edition of the New American Bible pulls no punches: "Where would you yet be struck, you that rebel again and again? The whole head is sick, the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot to the head there is no sound spot: wound and welt and gaping gash, not drained, or bandaged, or eased with salve." This is what happens when you get on the bad side of Jesus' Daddy. Never forget that.
You know, it is very interesting that when American Christians use events like 9/11 or school shootings as proof that God is chastising us for our sins, they NEVER EVER mention the land theft and attempted genocide of the Native Americans and Native Hawaiians; they NEVER EVER mention the kidnapping and enslavement of Africans; they NEVER EVER mention the rise of legally mandated segregation and the vigilante actions of the KKK (a Christian organization BTW). Or many other examples I could name. Lincoln is reported to have said that he trembled when he considered that God is just and that if it was His will, the war would last as long as it was necessary to repay every drop of blood drawn by the slaveholder's lash. If so, then what about the other sins I have mentioned--what will be the punishment for how we acquired our land from its original inhabitants? What about greed and oppressing the poor? I believe that the Bible has something to say about what God thinks of that. If there is any truth to this book, we may be in for a very rough ride indeed.

American Christians only blame lack of piety or homosexuality. You do seem to be falling into the "everyone else is pure" syndrome though. Slavery, torture and conquest existed in North America before the Europeans got there. People like to think the bad only existed in the better known South American empires, ignoring North American organized civilizations. But humans act like humans everywhere, and if you bother to research, you will find it. So by this standard, native Americans inherit their own ancestors' guilt. And so on, and so on.

God, as a character, has never been slow to anger. In the stories that are obviously pure fiction, where the writer can make God do all these miraculous things in front of everybody, God is very quick tempered. The second he's offended, he is quick to smite not only everyone who offended him, but everyone around the people who offended him. Moses had to step in to convince God that totally destroying the Hebrews for breaking the rules he didn't give them yet would have been a bad look for him. But when we get to the parts of the Bible based on real human experiences, where God starts to hide himself for some reason, suddenly he's "slow to anger." To me, this is very clearly just an excuse so that when bad things inevitably happen, these prophets can blame it on this "sin" that has been happening for years by that point. Because God is fictional, his "judgement" can't come as swiftly as more fantastical books of the Bible would have us expect it to. So just say that God is "slow to anger" and wait for something bad to happen, then retroactively blame that bad thing on sin.
Bonus points if you're one of those doom and gloom street preachers who are always claiming that God's judgement is just around the corner, and you just happen to be the one around when that bad thing happens. "See! I told you something bad was going to happen!" There's never not a time those people are making those kinds of predictions, but one of them has to be right eventually. Broken clocks and all.

This God, according to the Bible, is directly responsible for many mass-murders, rapes, pillage, plunder, slavery, child abuse and killing, not to mention the killing of unborn children.* I have included references to the Biblical passages, so grab your Bible and follow along.
*It always amazes me how many times this God orders the killing of innocent people even after the Ten Commandments said Thou shall not kill.* For example, God kills 70,000 innocent people because David ordered a census of the people (1 Chronicles 21).
God also orders the destruction of 60 cities so that the Israelites can live there. He orders the killing of all the men, women, and children of each city, and the looting of all of value (Deuteronomy 3). He orders another attack and the killing of all the living creatures of the city: men and women, young, and old, as well as oxen sheep, and asses (Joshua 6). In Judges 21 He orders the murder of all the people of Jabesh-gilead, except for the virgin girls who were taken to be forcibly raped and married. When they wanted more virgins, God told them to hide alongside the road and when they saw a girl they liked, kidnap her and forcibly rape her and make her your wife!
*Just about every other page in the Old Testament has God killing somebody!* In 2 Kings 10:18-27, God orders the murder of all the worshipers of a different god in their very own church! In total God kills 371,186 people directly and orders another 1,862,265 people murdered
The God of the Bible also allows slavery, including selling your own daughter as a sex slave (Exodus 21:1-11), child abuse (Judges 11:29-40 & Isaiah 13:16), and bashing babies against rocks (Hosea 13:16 & Psalms 137:9). ***This type of criminal behavior should shock any moral person.***
***Murder, rape, pillage, plunder, slavery, and child abuse can not be justified by saying that some god says it’s OK.*** If more people would actually sit down and read the Bible there would be a lot more atheists like myself. *Jesus also promoted the idea that all men should castrate themselves to go to heaven:* For there are eunuchs, that were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs, that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it (Matthew 19:12). *I don’t know why anyone would follow the teachings of someone who literally tells all men to cut off their privates.*
The God of the Bible also was a big fan of ritual human sacrifice and animal sacrifice.
*And just in case you are thinking that the evil and immoral laws of the Old Testament are no longer in effect, perhaps you should read where Jesus makes it perfectly clear:* It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid (Luke 16:17). There are many more quotes on this topic at my Do Not Ignore the Old Testament web page.
*If you follow the links on this site you will learn about all the nasty things in the Bible that are usually not talked about by priests and preachers.*
