  • Necromorphs take over your body in very few ways. Typically a bacteria is responsible more than anything but in some instances, a transplantation of necromorph tissue can quickly alter the body and take a person over. Enter the Divider Necromorph. This lanky creature will hijack the human nervous system by severing the most important part, the brain. In todays episode, lets discuss this brutal necromorphs creation!

    If the “human will” was actually something completely unique to us, that would be terrifying for aliens. From their perspective, these creatures just continue living and enjoying their lives for no reason in the face of constant chaos, unknowns, and hardships.

    • @AveSicarius

      I don't think its a valid theory even in the Dead Space universe if only because the Tau Volaantians were desperately trying to find a counter to the Marker Signal (which they discovered) and ended up dropping a forming Brethren Moon on themselves to instantly end their entire species rather than become Necromorphs.
      Also "Human Will" is just a combination of biological drive and conscious rationalization. Your body and subconscious mind drive you to survive, your conscious mind can't do much about that, so it rationalizes this in a way that makes it somewhat more appealing to continue no matter the conditions.
      So any sapient alien species that is conscious and not just, say, acting purely on some lower level preprogrammed response (and even then, you could argue that if the number of nodes were sufficient, and the overall mechanism complex enough, it would still be able to emulate consciousness), will have "will" in its eyes.

    I think dividers are a result of when you “kill” a necromorph. The marker just decides to sloppily reassemble the corpse and then it just does the dividing thing, as per usual. In my opinion, it makes sense because it explains why you only meet them near the end of the games, since it would take longer to reassemble a dismembered corpse.

    • @whyareusobad3528
      @whyareusobad3528 ปีที่แล้ว +59

      your close but it is explained that the Marker just re-fuses the slashers and leapers back together over time, it just takes a while. This explains why their numbers don't seem to thin out at any point despite you killing more than the entire number of crew on the Ishimura. As an aside that I'm sure most people know, because the necromorphs are essentially just macabre marionettes, dismembering them just causes them to no longer be useful to the Marker until it can reconstitute them.

      The Brother Moons were lame as fuck to be the ultimate evil.
      A necromorph moon? Okay... It is their war ship.
      It being what ever they were trying to be? No... I think they were aiming for some Lovecraft type or Halo Flood type horror.
      I would've preferred it needed the sacrifices to create a portal to its dimension in order to cross through. More Event Horizon or 40k warp horror with demonic supernatural(as we don't understand it) elements. Would fit nicely with the religious undertones as well... Also there could be the flip side of Angels being in it. This is why the Marker had infuelence on humans including the three monolithic religions. Christians, Jesus, and Muslims did not understand it and created demons and angels.

You can't stop something with dismemberment if it's already dismembered. But Isaac has a slight Chuck Norris power and can dismember them anyway. Why would it be harder outside of extra mass required? It doesn't seem like energy is a huge issue for them judging by their technology.
      Seriously once you start making any spacecraft whether they need to contain air or water at standard human pressure it is all the same due to the extreme vacuums and pressure changes ships are designed for anyway.
      Actually living in a liquid in space has a lot of benefits! I remember them trying to experiment on humans with liquid breathing, but don't recall all the advantages it would have had.
      Turns out no matter how safe you know it is logically? Your ape mind just screams, "NONONONO!".
      Also there was the whole our lungs were not designed for NOR strong enough to recycle enough liquid to extract enough oxygen for any length of time. Or the whole water getting inside the lungs is an issue thing causing pneumonia... Or the whole you couldn't subconsciously breath. Yet they did try for a while! Those men and women did not get paid enough to keep trying though.

      There is also the question of if being underwater would prevent technology from advancing past the copper age due to the inability to harness fire.

      We also design our technology from the ground up to be used in air anyway and then make it to be used in liquid. Not the other way around.
      It is just as hard to regulate heat in air in space as is liquid? The problem in space is getting rid of excess heat which is done through radiators anyhow.

    These things have always been my favorite enemy. Every playthrough I do, I have to let the head take me out because of the unique end you meet. It's not often that you get to see Isaac "Change teams" so it makes me quite sad that the remake actually has less dividers than the original.

    Roanoke's headcanon for Dead Space 4 would be even cooler if it turns out Isaac "facing his destiny" as the devs said include doing what orriginally started the series to begin with
    Isaac repairs the Ishimura (that somehow still stands) for the purpose of cracking apart the Bretheren Moons

  • @ryuushinzo3559
    @ryuushinzo3559 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It has been proven that pieces of the divider do act individually as you encounter pieces behind containers sometimes so one could say that the head is the hunter that gets the body mutilated by the slasher to create another divider so as it hunts, there are separate pieces all over making distractions for the slasher and other variants to capitalize. When there's a whole divider that could mean it was the most recent victim.

    I think I got a theory about the dividers.
    Do you remember the recorded voice of a guy who chopped off his own limps to prevent his necromorph killing his friends?
    I think dividers are those guys. Since the guy is not thrown around the limps remained very close to their original position and hence the limps are being attached again.

    I think it's implied that the Tau Volaantians were more advanced than human's and were in a similar position, i.e. they had various colonies and were running out of resources. Also we see two forms even with the basic TV Necromorphs, being the infant swarm and the adult TVs. They also apparently had many
    It's also worth noting that the TV physiology seems better as an aggressive vector than human's with less extensive modifications. They are big, strong, and durable, with modifications to make them more dangerous not necessarily being incentivized over just making relatively small (and thus much more rapid) alterations.
    Also we have to bear in mind that they were apparently deep ocean dwelling organisms, as such any modifications would have to at least maintain their ability to survive high pressures in an aquatic environment. Unlike human based Necromorphs who have basically no limit on form as long as it can support its own weight under standard atmospheric conditions.

    A thought occurs: maybe this form was partially inspired by the realization that dismemberment is more effective. with information spreading telling people to shoot the limbs off, probably being disseminated by the officers, the marker probably started making these macro-colonies that would be more resistant to dismemberment since their limbs are disconnected already.

  • @Alyson_The_Meta
    @Alyson_The_Meta 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    correction though, no all the parts are from the same person. even in the model you can see the big toe for one of the feet is on the wrong side indicating it is likely sporting two left feet. this shouldnt be surprising since all matter is necrofied whether its a full corpse, some limbs, spilt blood, all of it. when they are, they are reconfigured to either be "creep" on the walls, floor and ceiling. or they pull a voltron and start waddling towards you at a slow pace to give you a big ol slap. and if you knock it apart? well, they had the ability to come together so its their last stand that they find their mobility as a chance to take down the resisting party. this is also more confirmed with isaacs kill cam when it replaces his head and starts to move in a odd form of puppeteering

    Dividers look like what happens when someone attempt to dismember a necromorph but the marker reanimated it again. In every outbreak, survivors talk about how necessary it is to aim for the limbs, so it makes sense that as necromorphs their likelihood of already missing limbs or picking up scattered limbs would increase as the fight continues. Eventually the limbs themselves would attempt to combine to join the fight much like how the viscera left on the walls did to form the corruption.

  • @narumaki09

    2 thoughts occurred to me randomly at work regarding this particular necromorph, 1: why when a divider splits apart, does the torso not be used as another means of attack? Like, have what is left of the ribcage act as legs and let the torso scuttle around as a distraction. 2: I just can't get the image of this necromorph essentially being an undead megazord out of my head.
