When playing through this game again to show my sister the franchise, we turned the entire military ship into a huge joke. We called it the “Gamer Ship” and the Twitchers weren’t fast because of their Stasis Unit, but because they were coked up on G-Fuel. We are easily amused.
One thing that’s bothered me is how the soldiers wear top of the line armor (as does Issac) but a simple necromorph bone blade cuts through it like card board. Nice to see you upload again man.
For the soldiers, it might be designed for stopping ballistic and/or energy weapons. As no-one fights with swords or axes anymore, it might be vulnerable to cutting and slashing attacks.
Also to be fair Isaac upgrades his armor and health so he can take more hits, armor only reduces damage to you and protects you from direct damage but the necromorphs and weapons can cut through it. Danvers used a plasma cutter to cut his limbs off and he only needed one shot tho he did not have a full armored rig like Isaac’s better level armor rigs, slashers even without armor take more than one shot to dismember a limb so their bones are reinforced and stronger, the fact they can cut most in one slash means their strength is enhanced too cuz they can cut through even metal given enough force, armor like Isaac can be found on armored slashers which it can take and block plasma cutter shots showing how durable Isaac’s armor can be which makes sense cuz they have to protect themselves from deadly equipment, they are more equipped for cutting and blunt damage. Military armor is more made for ballistic weapons, explosives, and etc. Tho in game it is superior to our max armor so it likely can defend against cutting and is superior overall to ours just it isn’t mainly for cutting, plus we don’t know how many hits the slashers took to kill them all, the guy we see dying from a stab was already hurt to be fair so it seems it can take a couple hits yet without their tactics working and ineffective weapons aka pulse rifles or divet pistols it means they would get overwhelmed and cut up anyways without much options tbh Only the grenades would do anything and even then one grenade doesn’t always kill even just one slasher, even if they did it would ruin dry their ammo quicker than way, and the AoE can cause collateral damage so it was not an ideal situation for them.
I have to agree. There was no way for very sharp, very well designed swords to slice metal armor. There were even techniques to hold the sword by the blade and use it as a hammer to bludgeon through armor instead. Or to use the very tip of the sword and wedge it through the crevices in joints like those around the shoulders. Bone just has no chance at cutting through hard armors such as ceramic, metal, composite, etc. They’d have to cut through weak points that serve to increase flexibility but even then… These are still space suits that have to be insulated from space. Even fabric armor can stop a swords slash in enough layers. In fact, that was a very viable way to protect against both cutting and piercing attacks. It would, however, seem like necromorphs still hit with such force that it wouldn’t matter. Our bones and flesh would likely still be sundered and shattered by the force of the impact because, at the end of the day, they are still whacking people with very boney sticks. And sticks?… sticks always win.
I've never heard you talk about the game Prey (2017). The aliens in the game are very interesting and how the different forms interact with humans is very cool. Highly recommend the game if you haven't played and maybe it becomes a breakdown on the channel. Very much appreciate the fantastic content.
You know, with everything we "know" about the marker and the necromorphs, it might be interesting to theorize what kind of features an organism would have to have to be immune to the necromorph outbreak entirely. Just off the top of my head, it seems they would have to be very intelligent to resist the marker signal, have a very powerful immune system, a rapid gene-repair system, enough physical resilience/tech to avoid being easily killed by necromorphs, and be resistant to insomnia (e.g. not needing to sleep at all, for instance).
Believe deadspace 3 goes into this a bit. Intelligence seems to make you last longer against the Marker signature, but its never full blown immunity. The problem in the case of the Necromorph outbreak is unless you are part of the 0.01% who are builders and are practically immune to the signal (dead space remake seems to retcon this partially while not explicitly say so) you'd basically need some kind of constant healing factor to fight off the rapid onset dementia/brain damage from the marker signature.

I honestly never thought of the twitcher as being much different than the standard slasher. I thought it was just "slasher but fast". Very interesting to see just how different they actually are!
As a soldier myself, I can tell you you're not wrong. There are plenty of people in the service who do their daily PT for an hour and a half in the morning and when they get off of work at night go back to the gym for another hour and just like in a civilian world. Some of them are in the gym more than they're anywhere else. Turns out having more muscle can be a really useful for a lot of things in the army
I think the military was there to eliminate things primarily and recovering the escape pod was a convivence, maybe they didn't have clearance to interact directly with the ship but could with the escape pod. I don't think the military members deployed would be fully privy to what exactly a necromorph is
Okay, so I always thought the reason they move so fast is because we're under the effects of their stasis. Isaac is essentially seeing what the necros would see when he uses stasis on them. He would seem to move similar to a twitcher to a necro (or anyone else for that matter) under the effects of stasis.
@specialnewb9821 Think of it like a field that surrounds twitcher automatically affecting literally everything in it apart from itself. To us the twitcher would be the only thing moving fast, and to itself everything would seem slow - even the other necros. This is why everything else seems to move normally to us as we're being slowed with them.
If I’m not incorrect, I believe one of the logs mentioned that part of the Valor’s mission was to recover the Marker. My personal theory has been that Unitology has actually infiltrated its way into EarthGov and, knowing the Ishimura was probably already lost, used the Valor as their backup plan acquire the relic
Don't mind me, just leaving a writer's not for myself as to why I saved this video to this playlist. Arrow, the Twitcher's space-time shenanigans remind me of your work on [Speedster]'s Stream Slipping. Some of the weaknesses of the Twitchers may be worth looking into in the case of [Speedster]'s Anchor Suit.
The Valor picking up the escape pod would make sense as if they were there to eliminate the Ishimura and/or the marker, an escape pod might have someone on board to interrogate further. It is likely the initial thought is that it could be someone used as proof of what EarthGov was doing, as it's clear there was at least one major military faction opposed to the earth government at the time. On top of that if they had no way of knowing if anybody was on it, they probably felt if word of their actions got out it could ha e condemned them as well. Nuclear weapons are nothing to sneeze at. But they had likely no idea it was a necromorph, and when it opened they were slaughtered. Undoubtedly their proximity to Aegis VII likely also had the marker influence some of them as well.
I think the Valor had the mission to retrieve the agent(Kendra) and the survivors for advanced interrogation to find Marker secrets. Then secure the marker and hide it again and after that nuking the Ishimura and Aegis 7 colony. Thus hiding any evidence and still gaining knowledge on the effects of the Marker.
Still find it hilarious that an entire army ship got destroyed by one slasher while Isaac is out here killing horrid flesh god abominations with a tiny mining tool.
To be fair aside from Issacs plot armor and being his universes Doom Slayer 1. It wasn't just Shen, 2. There were a few bodies in the ships morgue as some Unitologost were apart of the military and didn't take to kindly to wanting to blow up the Marker so a mutiny happened, 3. When in range of the Ishumora they mutated and woke up, and 4. Soldiers are trained to hit center mass sadly not working very well for them on Necromorphs. 😅
@@Nekavandre Yeah, but you would think a secret military squad sent in to clean up a necromorph and marker would have some sort of briefing telling them that they will be fighting freaky space zombies.
@jollyroger195 You would think so but this is Earth-Glv we're talking about. Not even they fully understood the marker themselves other than it drove people insane, made space zombies, and most importantly was a power source. The Military were to destroy Egis 7's dig zone from Orbit and possibly even massacure the crew of the ishumora but that ones debated. Regardless they'd have never set foot on Eigis 7 so the government told them just enough which was "Take nuke, blow up weird statue from orbit, possibly leave no witnesses, and get out". If things had went according to plan and they had been properly informed instead of hush hush things would've gone better.
Hey Roanoke dunno if you'll see this, I adore your videos and the caption of "I'm Fast as F**k Boy" for Twitchers made me laugh out loud on a shitty day Thanks dude 💖
13:47. Don't remind me! I was squatting 505lb when my foot slipped on some crap on the floor that someone did not clean up. My foot shot out only an inch to the side but it put me in freefall for a couple of inches. I felt AND HEARD the pop in my right hamstring and instantly knew what had happened so in a dumb moment of panic I shifted all of the weight onto my toes and did a pure quad squat out of the hole instead of just dumping it (In the moment I did sort of fear the elastic rebound that spring boards me into the air the few times I have had to dump the bar when squatting). After racking the weight I literally thought: Where is the pai... oh, here it comes. And was on my ass for a few minutes as it then hit me. It was not the worst pain I have ever felt in my life but it was not a picnic. Thankfully it did not require any surgery and healed completely after 3 months of physio but I always check the grip of my shoes before squatting now.
I believe they didn’t destroy the escape pod because the overseer likely would’ve wanted to talk to the survivors or at least have them spoken to. As for why they didn’t blow the ship they were possibly awaiting specific orders to possibly wait and didn’t expect the pod to come up, asked for how to proceed by higher ups and they got fucked in the end.

Just gonna put this here and maybe it’ll get attention but who knows. But could we possibly get a video on the movie “The Lazarus Effect” Movie? It’s not anything bacterial related but I think it would make for a cool Roanoke video.

I always thought that the twitcher was from the implants the soldiers had and not the stasis module. Wasn't there a recording or audio line somewhere saying similar? Regardless, good explanation on them.
I love that getting off the planet is a sci fi concept not because we dont have the means to pursue it, just because we spend too much money on trying to KO ourselves.

When i first saw this game i didn't think the stasis would ever be used against Isaac since he's the only human around who can use tools commonly. But then the soldiers appeared and i was like "wait, will they use stasis on us?" And boy seeing a slasher being that fast made me laugh with excitement, it was just such a cool idea and design. But then i realized what that meant and fear was now the main feeling
I really appreciate the consistency and quality of Roanoke's content, I'm disabled and can't do much and having my internet biologist uncle drop great stuff all the time makes it more bearable 💙
The ending is a fascinating horror. Say either it is working as intended or not but the potential for you to spend several minutes essentially Alone for your final moments before the rest of existence catches up
Military Soldiers who trained for dedicated combat scenarios: 💀
One Engineer with industrial tools: 😎
Don't count out engineers, js.
Keep the lore coming my dude! The twichter is still one of those enemies I still flinch at eventhough I replay DS 1 twice a year since 2016.
Thanks man for still bringing the feet content, sorry I meant the sience we all need❤
@@Arguvandalon top of that, necromorph bone blades are as sharp as possible, since they literally sharpen themselves as they grow
That's because their meant for engagements involving humans.
Necromorphs weren't human and they don't die to conventional firearms.
Tho in game it is superior to our max armor so it likely can defend against cutting and is superior overall to ours just it isn’t mainly for cutting, plus we don’t know how many hits the slashers took to kill them all, the guy we see dying from a stab was already hurt to be fair so it seems it can take a couple hits yet without their tactics working and ineffective weapons aka pulse rifles or divet pistols it means they would get overwhelmed and cut up anyways without much options tbh
Only the grenades would do anything and even then one grenade doesn’t always kill even just one slasher, even if they did it would ruin dry their ammo quicker than way, and the AoE can cause collateral damage so it was not an ideal situation for them.
Very much appreciate the fantastic content.
funfact about that game it even has a less chosen ending that would make HP lovecraft proud.
16:40 "and here we can see this variant of slasher casually T-posing to establish dominance"
Octopus fill several of those criteria I'm pretty sure
@@lilyeves892 The octopi are the last hope for Earth. Rising from the depths of the oceans to fight for their home, they shall crush the necromorph threat in their mighty tentacles, and drag them to a watery grave. Once humanity has fallen, the cephalopods take their rightful place and ascend to the stars to do battle with the brethren moons.
Dead Space 4: Release the Kraken!
A rock person
So Space Marines from WH40K.
Those are probably our best bet. Or, AI.
I honestly never thought of the twitcher as being much different than the standard slasher. I thought it was just "slasher but fast". Very interesting to see just how different they actually are!
Thanks for watching guys! I apparently felt like crap because I was about to blinded by a migraine lmao classic brain
You got another channel? Didnt know. Great video as usual 👍
Roanoke preparing us for the Brethren moons w each video
One could say he... makes us whole
They are coming. They are hungry.
Yes I liked the video before watching it just cause this individual should be championed thank you for coming to my Ted talk
I'm sorry TH-cam is stifling you. You're my favorite person on this site
The other necros don't move like that. If Isaac were under stasis they would all move that way.
The fact you got Helldivers in here is awesome.
I tried to tell em this is how you get an old god. I warned 'em, hell you warned '
I like the Twitcher's redesign for the remake.
I spent a lot of my downtime while in the Army lifting weights, can confirm your hypothesis Roanoke.
Bro I have know idea how you don't have a Million subscribers yet?!? Because your content is some of the best I've ever seen!!👍
My head Canon was the twitcher moved that way because that's what the enemy sees when You use a stasis device.
Did anyone else notice the twitcher’s mangled armor is the original military suite design?
These guys are like Sandevistan powered zombies, just what happens when you give the undead the tech of Cyberpunk.
Best death animation of the remake
Literally just "you are already dead"
Humanity #1, Isaac showed those Necromorphs why we dominate.
Still find it hilarious that an entire army ship got destroyed by one slasher while Isaac is out here killing horrid flesh god abominations with a tiny mining tool.
Issac is just built different.
@@thereseemstobeenanerror1219 He is space osha approved.
So happy the OG videos are getting a remake. You rule Broanoke!
Always love these.
when the tome (lore) releases for the newest character "The Unknown" in dead by daylight, i'd love for you to cover it!
Hey Roanoke dunno if you'll see this, I adore your videos and the caption of "I'm Fast as F**k Boy" for Twitchers made me laugh out loud on a shitty day
Thanks dude 💖
Right off the bat, Helldiver 2 but no it's an up-to-date Dead Space Lore vid on the Twicther Necromorph.
im here for the anglerfish reference, dont let me down papa roanoke :)
Yay! I found your channel searching for Dead Space stuff, I love that you're doing more. Starting with the feeeeeet!
How a whole ship died from 1 necromorph is beyond me like look at Isaac bro stomps on them and wins these guys cant grab a emergency gun or something
Still curious as to why the Soldiers never thought to look inside the escape pod through its window. You’d think that would be the smartest idea.
7:32 the poor guy sitting there against the wall, holding his own severed leg while lamenting 😟
When i first saw a twitcher my first reaction was "ITS A TWEEKER!" Lol
Ive been waiting for *years* for this video. I liked before the video even fully loaded.
8:30 my reaction to but riddled with expletives mixed in with screaming.
"Screaming for minutes... what fun!" Lol
Any chance you'll take a look at Alex Mercer/James Heller from [Prototype]?
I’m glad I wasn’t attacked this episode 😊
The cutter gun has proven to be more 50 cal than a pulse rifl
Ngl, deadspace seems like it really could be something that happens to humans in the future
Good use of Helldivers! High praise on the satire and memery here
I haven't gotten to them yet but thanks for the heads up, currently in chapter 4 out of ammo and medical supplies as I try to power the damn guns. These dead space videos are so good man
I’m still surprised that a single Necromorph can take out an entire military cruiser. Seeing as we only encounter two soldiers that are still alive when we enter the Valor. Albeit one is missing a leg
Love seeing you grow man every ones in a while i binge you
QUICKLY!!! Before the algorithm nukes the video 😂😂😂😂
God bless you roanoke your vids are the only reason I can focus on my homework sometimes
@3:27 *A.D.D. Break!!* (OH!! GOOD engine!!😂) I see you!! 🤣
1:06 We could get to Mars in the next 3 years if we really wanted to.
Amazing video as always Roanoke. Any chance we can we get a video on the Medusa Necromorph? They're the weird floating ones you find in zero G in dead space 3.
2:37 slight correction: The captain brought it up _despite_ knowing it caused all that. No one else knew until it was on board, and started dot connecting I believe
Just gonna put this here and maybe it’ll get attention but who knows. But could we possibly get a video on the movie “The Lazarus Effect” Movie? It’s not anything bacterial related but I think it would make for a cool Roanoke video.
I love this channel and everything you bring to it!
A prequel about how everything started, either the first time they found a Marker or made a Red Markers.
We see the results of it but we never see how the outbreak starts.
My crap feeling bro you're not alone and just like you made your video I also did my job... I'm not happy lol but I am happy I have a other roanoke video to watch. You're a legend been watching since the og dead space vids.
Now all we need is a nercomorph anglerfish.
Never understood how being fused with their stasis modules sped them up instead of slowing them down 😕
Dude whoever designed the necromorphs for sure has some issues I swear
Like the intro, now suit up and get read to drop into the creek!
I am a VETERAN necromorph destroyer but all this time I NEVER knew you could shoot the stasis module and it slow them down 😅😅.. The things I've seen in the remake would have made 14Y.O me A LOT LESS stressed/panicked if I knew that in 08'
roanoak your videos made me stay up at night on middle school and even today in high school
Sweet first Roanoke tales and now this one
These soldiers are just Goodwill Spartans
I always thought that the twitcher was from the implants the soldiers had and not the stasis module. Wasn't there a recording or audio line somewhere saying similar? Regardless, good explanation on them.
Brethren Moons when using Chen: EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
I love that getting off the planet is a sci fi concept not because we dont have the means to pursue it, just because we spend too much money on trying to KO ourselves.
Funny how theres a note on the ship stating they know there could be potential outbreak beforehand yet a fully prepared ARMY with full scale weapons get run over BY ONE NECRO.
The twitchers and the noises they make are probably the most disturbing in deadspace 1.
Design wise I think original dead space twitchers are creepier because of the missing top of their heads that you can see into their heads and when they game end Isaac they look right into the camera
In the lore. The captain actually knew the marker was there the whole time.
