💬Synopsis:

If you are considering watching this drama, I strongly suggest it. Honestly, I'm a HUGE Chinese drama fan, especially historical ones and I've watched countless amounts of dramas and this is the one drama that made me want to come back repeatedly not just out of boredom but actually not being able to find a drama that is better than this. Everything from the ost, to the cast and then the plot is beautiful. The main plot is mainly focused on their love life, however, the small conflicts and then the small hints that lead to the "major" plot is beautiful. Everything is well directed, cast, and filmed. Usually, historical Chinese dramas make the kiss scenes and all the more intimate scenes look really awkward or it's always "accidental". So honestly, when I watched this drama I expected the same "accidental" fall or awkward kiss where the fl basically just stares blankly. But no, I felt the love between the two characters. It was as if the two leads were actually together, which they of course aren't. I believe this has to be one of the most underrated films. Though its short which I wished it was longer because 30 eps really isn't enough for me. The chemistry between all the characters are amazing, not awkward or "forced" at all. Theres a ton of kiss scenes and that is a huge bonus. Most dramas have like 5 kiss scenes but this one has so many different kiss scenes with different meanings,, some are upsetting, some are jealousy, some are happiness, some are angry ones. Very well expressed! The general was well played, I've never really enjoyed watching general genres mainly because I always found the cast not suiting the character or just found it boring, but here chu xiu ming played by wu xize was a cold person, he had no real emotions towards things aside from war and the battle field. However meeting shen jin played by tang min changed his view and that made him open up more. He went from a cold, heartless general, to a considerate and caring husband. Tang min's character is like titled "witty" but she is also brave and more of a fearless type of girl. So overall I really think this is a drama worth watching!

I can’t recall how many times I’ve watched this drama. Aside from the fact that the actors are fascinating and the story line keeps me on my toes. But what I love the most are the custom designs. I love the General’s outfits and how the decided to do his hair. Love the way when there is a fight scene they fly in the air and are able to stay suspended in the air. I have never liked martial arts like I do with this drama. Too bad it was not translated into English. Are the theme songs lyrics written in English. I do enjoy the melodies. Great job for the people that created the drama, their custom design team and the actors. From all the 30 episodes I have some favorites. But for me the best scene was in episode 30, when the troops are training and the General asked one of the soldier to step off the line and repeat their creed and it was their little boy who was able to recite the mission statement. Great drama all around. I give it a five star rating.

She's such an amazing actress and I'm here after finished watching her debut drama ”Chef Hua” a few days ago. The acting skills she showed in that drama was awe-inspiring. She did great to portrays Hua Xiao Mai character. One of the best performances I've seen. She always makes me smile. She brings her characters to life with all of her exuberance☺️

The moment she turns around and he captures her in his arm and holds the light up and they look into each other's eyes and the theme music starts and the camera pans his face is absolutely priceless! Love everything about General's Lady. The actors, writing, directing, and music are superb, the onscreen chemistry between Caesar Wu and Tang Min is so real and captivating, the costumes are absolutely exquisite, and the mixture of drama, comedy, and action leaves you wanting more even after 30 episodes. Congratulations to everyone involved in creating such a wonderful production. Thank you to YoYo English Channel for providing a translated version of the show. I wouldn't have found this incredible gem without it.
Their chemistry is the best part of this series. I don't think I've seen another series where the couple are so physical with each other without going too far for TV. I also really love the way Asian dramas develop these little stories. There are a lot of holes in this story, as there usually are with these "cheap" romance series. But there's a lot worth watching if you like to see intimacy in a romance. Be warned, a lot of bad choices by both the characters and screen writers that just feel like they forced conflicts to create a story. =)
I think this is a very superficial and forgettable drama, although it started out promising.
The leads don't fit their character's although the acting is good.
"Autumn ballad" is much more entertaining and more watchable.

This was my very first Chinese dynasty drama and am back to watch it three years later. It is my first and favorite always. The story line, chemistry, tenderness, comedy and acting ability is perfect. It has left a true mark in my heart.🥰 I've always wished that they would have a General's wife 2.

The base of this is because the feature of east and central Asian men are often less chiseled. The bone structure is not like caucasian or african.
For example: you can often find such a description about an overworldly good looking men in Asia: "a man who is more beautiful than a woman".
Such description would never suit to be used for men with arab, eurepe or african decent.
When you join a wedding ceremony in Asian countries... you wouldn't find that a groom with lipstick looks inappropriate as long as the man is not ugly.
This is why in the story one can dress up like their opposite gender and not gonna be recognised, as long as they actually really are good in make up skills.
Especially since scholarly men tend to be weak, soft, gentle and skinny.
On the other hand.. one would never expect to find women of a noble family running around wildly outside without a bunch of maids nor veil. Noble ladies wouldn't show their face in public.
If her father doesn't love her enough, a wild girl like her would have been punished severely by family law whenever she wilfully wander around like this.
What I find lacking and makes this kind of plot looks strange is actually the make up artist and the artist bearing itself.
You should watch the old drama from the 90's, like Brigitte Lin in Swordsman or Tuoya Talin in Lotus Hegemony (Lian Hua Zheng Ba).
They are beautiful women, however when they were cast as men (not woman dressed as a man but as a real man who then got castrated and turned into a woman).
They managed to portray a bearing of a man.
Talin was over bearing but gallant. He was actually an antagonist character but TBH, I couldn't see how the female lead didn't fall into "him" but to the other man instead :-D.
Surely the main plot was supposed to be so, but Bai Yu Chuan was simply very attractive "male character" and not at all feminine although he was played by a pretty woman. He was more attractive than the Male Lead.
Brigitte Lin in Swordsman still looked beautiful but cool, a real cool "man" and then turned into a flirtatious lady after got "castrated".
She would have been perfect to play as a "cold overbering CEO" or the "ice cold grand master" which is so popular in the chinese dramas recently.
She's always excellent in playing "Men", that's why she had many roles like that despite being a great beauty.
Both didn't even need to wear "fake mustaches nor beard" just to be plot as a man, and they still were able to show the bearing of a man.
So I must say, the actress nowadays are simply not comparable to our legendary actresses of the past ^^_^^. That is the main problem.
The main actor the male acts like a true general and that's why I like it

Love, love, love this drama. Caesar Wu's one of my favorite actor and he did an excellent job as the General. Great chemistry between the leads. I've not seen a historical drama with soooo many kissing scenes. I've re-watched this several times and still enjoy it.
Such a great drama. The main couple had wonderful chemistry, were affectionate and so natural together, I loved that. They also had real kisses! The ML & FL were both terrific. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of Caesar Wu! I’d rate this a 8/10.
Oh my gosh the antics plus the situation that Shen Jin does to the this unexpecting general is so hilarious. I laughed when they locked Shen Jin along with cutie pie up, Then she picks the lock while they are talking and she walks up and locks them in or when she is helping the general unlock the door and she pulls a strand of his hair. This is a really great drama to watch. I also liked how caring and patient he was with her as well, I really enjoyed watching this drama, When they got married and he said those words to Shen Jin oh yes my heart melted

Generals lady is the best historical drama have ever watched ... The lines.. scripts.. locations..attires.. make ups lead actors.. on/off screen actors... Like everything was on point 💯📌🥵
I am blown away by the first episode (can't be me only!).
So many high points already....Lovely scenery, Jin's Father looks like a pushover, Jin's sisters & their mom looks manipulative. It was a sad moment when Jin left home sighs
But hello. when the General reached the ambush site and started to fight I was like yeah man....eeep!!!

General's Lady one of the best Chinese dramas 👌🙌 I have watched and I'm still watching. I do understand some mandarin language and speak basic. And yes, I agree about Lord Jin mom was young and beautiful 😍💜💖..
Out of the many dramas I have watched, I have enjoyed The General's Lady the best.. I am watching it again for the 7th time... I especially love episode 2.. I watch that over and over again.. She cracks me up when her tongue swells up... This is just an awesome video.

Hi all! I discovered this new drama while watching "Love in Time" drama. I also noticed the lead actor (the general) is from another Cdrama i like. However, after finishing ep.1, I must continue watching the previous drama, Love in Time, but I'll be back. This drama right here is another one!! Another hit that is...keep them coming. Not to throw shade at American dramas, TV, or movies, but they can learn something from Asian cinemas...and I'm American. But a great drama & great music is good entertainment. Now I'm hooked on BTS, Kpop, Cdramas, & Kdramas. Besides, there's enough love to go around for it all. Everyone be happy, enjoy the dramas, stay healthy, wear your mask/wash your hands, keep your distance, be safe out there & God bless you.
First time watching this wonderful drama 6 days ago stay up each night until 3:00am I was so hooked could not stop watching. Now this is my 4th time re-watching this drama enjoying it so much, I hope there will be a part 2 with all of the same returning characters that all done an excellent job playing their parts.

It was the first drama i watched in 2022. from then i am just addicted to cdrama. i have completed changyan youth , maidan holmes, dr. cutie, wonderland of love , heart of loyalty , princess and watarwolf , jun jiu ling , and many more. chinese historical dramas are something different .

This is the best Chinese soap I watched, the General is handsome and the storyline is wonderful, the scriptwriting is beautiful, there is comedy, drama, and romance, it tickles to the bone. I love it, I feel in love with the general.

Watched the entire series, it was awesome!!!!! I love the interaction between the two and the script is very well written...beautiful backdrop and settings...I hope there is a season 2 with the same casts.
