Description: Moldova is a country in Europe that often goes overlooked. Although it is dismissed as just the poorest & least visited country in Europe, it is actually one of the most important geopolitical points that could see a direct conflict between the EU & Russia. In this video we go over the short history of Moldova and the tug of war between the EU & Russia who have been fighting to bring the country under their influence. We go over some of Russia's propaganda and foreign influence tactics as well as their effect & potential outcome.

Nice to see Moldova mentioned! I'm from Transnistria. I lived there all my life and I rarely visited Moldova. Honestly I don't know how to feel about my country. I don't know who I am. I don't know what language I want to speak. I don't even want to speak. I'm Ukrainian by nationality but I barely have ties to my heritage and I don't feel connection to Romanians/Moldovans nor Russians. In school we have choice to learn Moldavian(Romanian in cyrillic) or Ukrainian. My parents chosen Ukrainian and I learned some even though my grandma is a last person who speaks "Surjik". But surjik faded away because we moved to Tiraspol where everyone speak Russian. I hope that conflict between Moldova and Transnistria will be over and people will be mindful. Btw I like Maia Sandu as a politic and I hope that Moldova will be in EU. Sad thing is that I don't like to be in Transnistria nor in Moldova. I feel like an alien in both places. In Transnistria I feel like an alien because I like Europe and hope for integration with EU and I don't like the idea of "Russian world". In Moldova I feel like an alien because everything looks and feels unfamiliar to me, because I don't feel/have ties to Moldova. Thoughts about things lke these are hurtful to me. It feels like all my life was lies on lies on lies.
Funny story: I was volunteer in some organisation for youth in Tiraspol. We used to help with organisation of holidays and we sometimes did "eco-events". We cleaned shores of Dniester because some people like to barbecue around there and to throw trash. One day leader of this organisation calls me and says that I and some other volunteers will be awarded with some certificate and merch. I was awarded and everything went alright. I'm a good citizen. Month later I leave my country because I don't want to serve in army. Now I'm a bad citizen and need to wait until I'm 27 to return to my country:)
Currently I'm living in Chişinău and I hope that everything is going to be alright 🙏
Oh such a disgrace you can't serve in the military of Transnistria, when the time comes to get busted by your fellow Ukrainians. lol
Mmm... maybe in time you'll get used in Chișinău. Or maybe Ukraine is a good thing (also heading towards E.U.) - but I guess one would not go there before the war is over.
Good luck, I hope you will find your place . !
Without doxing myself, I'm also a person caught between two worlds, both of which feel foreign and alien to me for different reasons.
My advice is to stop trying to "fit in" so hard to either culture. Took me decades to learn that lesson. Just be yourself and find friends that you enjoy the company of. If they try and "other" you for not cleanly fitting into the box of a particular nationality, they're not worth being friends with.
Being a perpetual foreigner everywhere has its perks as well as downsides.

Coming from a moldovan, small note on the Dnister war:
As the moldovan army was only properly formed in 1992, and so out of necessity, most of the moldovan delegated forces along the frontline was consisted of policemen and volunteers for the biggest part - thus I don't really how right it is to say the fact that the Moldovan army got decimated. It really seems like an overstatement.
Other than that, the rest is well researched, and I'm excited someone actually went in-depth with why the existence of our matters matters in the 'Pontic' geopolitical space, and why it will for the time being

Same thing exept they weren't laughing. The border control was suspicious of me and my family because we were from Russia and didn't have any close relatives in Moldova. So we told them all the sights we wanted to see and where we planed to stay. We decided it would be better not to tell the border police that we were also planning to visit Transnistria.
Moldovans are a subethnic group of romanians (alongside with muntenians, oltenians, etc). Like Bavarians are germans and Hutsuls are ukrainians.

Also later you also showed the Flag of this Republic when mentioning the collapse of the Soviet Union, by 1991 the Autonomous Moldavian SSR was long gone, being replaced with the Moldavian SSR in August 1940 shortly after the USSR annexed Bessarabia from Romania, which had a different flag.

Good stuff, good stuff..
Thank you for using the boondocks clip.
This is cool to know, my ancestors were survivors of the kieshnev pogrom
Moldova becoming a high-income advanced economy would be great tbh quickly.......
A video separately about Transnistria would be awesome👍🏻
Will you make similar video about Georgia? It's also extremely important as only way for Europe to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and other countries of that region
It's Romania but different.
10:25 ah, existential dread. My favoooorite
Hey, i’m really impressed and i’m really happy that somebody finally made a video about Moldova that isn’t russian propaganda
Fun fact Moldova's president is definitely one of the most liked in the Balkans
she surely is a PILF
Unfortunately, it's all about image. Probably someone thinks the same about von der Leyen 🤮
6:54 Yo don't call Taiwan cringe when it is GiGa Based.
The real giga based take is that Taiwan isn't a country, just an island...... where the REAL Chinese government resides with the CCP being communist gangsters illegally occupying the main land.
Taiwan is one of the most functional as a nation out of that list lol.
Nah it's trash and cringe.
Giga Based indeed, did you watch the shitshow in their parliament last week? They are americanized chinese
What makes ROC based? Politics? Hell no. I would say TSMC. TSMC is the sole reason ROC (Taiwan) has any relevance today.
5:19 Nice moustache you have there, babushka!
Moldova's defense budget is not only smaller than real Madrid's budget, but smaller than real Madrid's defense budget. Yet Moldova will prevail.
Listening to this video while going for a walk in moldova as a molodovan is scertainly a vibe

Living ironically in europe is an american whore pretty sure he wants to transition to a woman
This half Hungarian Janosh is pretty biased when comes to Romanians.
Today, Janos talks about the lesser mentioned, rightfully Hungarian province of Moldova
Very good video
Moldova becoming a high-income advanced economy would be great tbh......
True. All it would take is to let go of Transnistria.
MLM: Moldovan Lives Matter
All lives matter. Except Russian lives of course.
Sending love to Moldovans from Serbia🇷🇸❤🇲🇩

The chess pieces at 2:31 are soviet pieces, nice touch.
Love your humor!! Cheers from 🇲🇩
Can somebody please send me the link of those celebrity cameo videos dissing Maia Sandu. That shit is hilarious. I only found the audio so far.
Didn’t know Transnistria had THAT much weapons locked up Jesus
The Cobasna ammunition depot contains all the ammunition USSR brought fom East Germany and eastern European countries (Poland, Czechoslovakia etc.) when they retired their troops in 1989 and at the begining of the 1990s.
Just to give you an idea, only in East Germany USSR had stationed some 500000 troops. Imagine then the amount of ammunition. Although a lot of it ended up on the black markets, there is still a lot of it left.
Currently this depot is an insurance policy should Russia start another "special military operation" in that area.
I mean if it makes you feel any better most of that has probably been sold off to black market dealers or third world countries
@@dudeski6548 Most? Hardly. There is enough for entire WW3, much less a dozen or two of warlords with their tiny armies that they can barely afford already.
@@alexturnbackthearmy1907yea and transninstria has been occupied for 30 years
