This song is the most amazing song ever played and recorded the man plays left handed upside down he's freaking awesome his supporting musicians and vocal collaborators are so in flow .. its spell bounding ! I believe blind willie would have been in awe of thier rendition !! Its haunting and hits deep in the soul 2010 was one of the best cross roads festivals ever 👍
Doyle doesn't get the credit he deserves.i've been listening to him about 40 years.he's an amazing guitarist.he plays with eric clapton alot.need I say anything else.
Love this song and wondered where Doyle got it from. So I've just sat here and listened to every video on TH-cam of every artist that's ever done this song. Everyone from Blind Willie Johnson, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Mellencamp, Fish etc.... I must say Doyle's version puts everybody else's to shame. Ofcourse, I may be a little partial to DBll because my God there's nothing Doyle, the best voice ever, the best badass left handed upside down and backwards guitar playing God, the best song writer and last but not least the finest sexiest man alive can't do. This song by Doyle, and only his version, makes me wanna sing, dance and smile til it hurts. Love love love me some Doyle Bramhall ll 24/7 365 days a year every year since Arc Angels. I watch Crossroads and own them all just for DBll and Clapton. A match made in heaven.
I've seen him several times in San Antonio at Sam's Burger Joint. Doyle is amazing. I have my pic taken with him twice because he always comes out to meet with the fans after his show. Going to see Arc Angels next week in San Antonio. I can't wait. xox
Wow, so good. It would've been even better had that transition to jam/riff at 4:00 went on for another 10 minutes :) I saw this one the Palladia channel (Comcast Chicago) and had the soundbar and subwoofer on and I couldn't believe my ears. The bass is incredible in this song if you have the right set up. Granted this is at 480p and I was watching at 1080p, so sound quality might be impacted, but still, good good stuff !!
This is great... but to my ears the music they are playing is neither Blind Willie Johnson's nor Led Zeppelin's "In My Time of Dying" but rather Howlin' Wolf's "Spoonful."
I'm with you - if it weren't for his "backup", he'd be a neanderthal plodder. I have this DVD and his interviews are painfully, uh, "limited". Must be nice to have been born to it.
He's using a Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Jr Double Cut, with custom cherry gloss color. Sweet guitar with a P90 bridge pickup. Doyle mostly uses it for slide playing
I think he was just a friend, he might have been in the early Double Trouble though, before they were signed. He also co wrote a lot of In Step with SRV
look up the lyrics... you'll he's not... but he is only singing a small fraction of the original. listen to Bob Dylan's version, he sings the exact same thing except alot more of the lyrics.
WTF? He is a great songwriter, about as authentic as they come. Eric Clapton and BB King covered TWO songs of his on "Riding with the King". Do your homework and shut the hell up unless you know what you're talking about. He doesn't claim to be a great lead player. He wants to be known as a great songwriter, which he is.
hungerstriker27, No relation but here's some info for you, hope this helps. Bramhall joined The Chessmen with Jimmie Vaughan while in high school. The group opened for Jimi Hendrix when he played Dallas. In 1969, he moved to Austin and formed Texas Storm with Jimmie Vaughan. In the 1970s, Bramhall formed The Nightcrawlers with Marc Benno, which also included Jimmie Vaughan's younger brother Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar. While in The Nightcrawlers, Bramhall co-wrote the tune "Dirty Pool," which appeared on Stevie Ray Vaughan's debut album, Texas Flood. He would write or co-write several other songs for the younger Vaughan, such as "Life by the Drop" from SRV's The Sky Is Crying album, and he played the drums on the Vaughan Brothers only album, Family Style.[1] Bramhall released his debut solo record in 1994, which included appearances from the Vaughans and his own son. He also collaborated with Jennifer Warnes in the 1990s.[1] He is the father of singer and guitarist Doyle Bramhall II.
The Page version of this was heroin induced... maybe too much for Doyle! NOONE does a rewrite like Page. N - O - O - N - N - E. This traditional ditty is ok tho. DB2 is THE shit. ] -)

Doyle. Yeah. Watch in the flesh roger waters tour. 😊

This man is out of this world -- I can't get enough.
Lisa Palermo lol.. I just attempted to jam to it... I said “ This man is Insane” 🙂☮️💟✊🏼🎸💯
The Leon Russell shirt was enough for a thumbs up. . . . . . the slide? Hell yesssssss
Love Doyle! He's a great musician! He plays with his heart it's in his blood and soul

Doyle is absolutely amazing.listen to that slide, wow.love this guy.
This is a song I listen to every week.love it doyle.
I want that yellow T-shirt with the print of Leon Russell. Great music too!
good modern blues
3:15 love that part. Guy is definitely feeling it
The song has a similar affect on me.
BETTER THAN A PRAYER ...
Tremendous experience listening to the music 🎶
Great song, I heard this song so many times by the original A. Brothers, it comes pretty close, but noone can replace Greg Allman. 🙏
Still love The Archangels! That's a great album. Wish they would have made more albums.
Going to see the next week in San Antonio. Unfortunately Tommy Shannon won't be playing with them. But I'm looking forward to the show so much.
@@TerryLivelyInk I'm so jealous! I'm sure that will be a great time! Have fun :)
Doyle has done the best version of IMTOD in my opinion !
I agree! At least for anyone in current memory. Also, have you checked out Gary Clark Jr?
Same! Hard to play this yo!!!
Try Sammantha Fish’s too, but yeah you right!👍 Almost makes me cry!
Great performance, thanks for uploading off to my GR55 now to practice this one!
Can't say this too often, but this is way better than Led Zeps version that most of us know.
That's a crazy comment, this is much different and good, but the zeppelin version is way better on every level...not even close
There are so many versions of the song. From original to contemporary. Some are better than others, Most are good or better. Depends on what you like
What a beautiful guitar!
I want my pallbearers in a Cadillac convertible blasting this on my final ride
Muito bom este som.
I loved this as much as the original, they're both so different
I LOVE CROSSROADS

Crank Turner who gives a crap about your stupid speakers
can't stop listening to this...
Amen, Doyle!!
awesome! thanks for the post.
Doyle is a fantastic guitarist.i have been listening to him since tha ark angles.he plays with guitar god eric clapton.
Genio total!!!
Could never imagine a bluesy version of this zeppelin song, but he did great.
It is not LZ original, it is based on Blind Willie Johnson song
This is great... but to my ears the music they are playing is neither Blind Willie Johnson's nor Led Zeppelin's "In My Time of Dying" but rather Howlin' Wolf's "Spoonful."

Seen him live several times at small venues. Seems extremely arrogant.
Back up singer Gary Clark Jr..........Whooo!
This song predates Zep by about 50 years. Was a gospel tune written in the 1920s.
great Doyle
Right on!
Doyle Rocks
Such a bad ass
🔥🔥🔥perfect song for my family if im dying!
R-E-S-P-E-C-T!!
Badass
So nasty...so good
MrBlindmans there is an old sayin' - if it sounds good it is good. You should quit being a hater.
💛

Anybody know what his setup is to get that tone? Besides that sweet LP Jr. that is.
I think he was just a friend, he might have been in the early Double Trouble though, before they were signed. He also co wrote a lot of In Step with SRV
That was his dad ,not DB2
Trying to sound like Sonny Aterry with all that whooping & hollowing cool
Yeah I saw this version. But this one is better.
look up the lyrics... you'll he's not... but he is only singing a small fraction of the original. listen to Bob Dylan's version, he sings the exact same thing except alot more of the lyrics.
Ralph Stanley wrote this Gospel tune.
The drummer is a Dave Grohl Look-a-like ^^
Anyone know the chords to this song ? I'm playing a blues fest this weekend and would very much like to perform this?
Its basically F# A F# A B A, thats the intro, verses, and most of the chorus. You should be able to figure out the rhythm
Doyle plays with the guitar actually upside down. Low strings on the bottom. So its weird tryin to figure out by watchin his hands
I can’t believe he is dating Elle Mcphearson! Such a shock😵💫🤯😶🌫️😎
🖤Yes
Anyone know the name of the bass player?
@cupjake Pure soul.
What guitar does doyle use in this song? it's got a really nice sound to it and i wanna look it up but i don't know the guitar model.

Brock Logan it’s a Zeppelin song
@@Crashy4 - no it is not. It’s a very old gospel song from about 1920.
@@Crashy4 Look up Josh White's version. It's on Spotify.
Can someone please tell me what key the guitar part is played in, i've really been dying to learn that song
did you get the answer in these years ?
fucking good !
I love Doyle but it Sounds like the band is fighting itself to begin with. They do get it straightened out though.
At one point you see Doyle telling them to speed it up.
for the fans... a question... i know doyle´s dad is related to srv... he was a member of double trouble or another player?
hungerstriker27, No relation but here's some info for you, hope this helps.

Ta
What guitar is Doyle using ?
That’s a Gibson Les Paul JR
@fender17guy too funny
I think you need to go way back ,led zep borrowed this from a bluesman
Zeppelins version is still the best. Page’s leads, Bonhams drum and the fretless bass. And yes I know they didn’t write the song. Some boog did
LOL making up different lyrics ...
The Page version of this was heroin induced... maybe too much for Doyle! NOONE does a rewrite like Page. N - O - O - N - N - E. This traditional ditty is ok tho. DB2 is THE shit. ] -)
haha. ever heard of led zeppelin?
not as good as zepp
