I’ll never forget…many years ago I participated in a piano master class where we had to perform a number of Preludes & Fugues from the WTC. The artist in residence was the late Jean Casadesus. He warned us NOT to try to imitate Glenn Gould. He told us quite emphatically, “Only HE can do that!” In other words, only Glenn Gould could sound like Glenn Gould!
Every note clean and precise. Long lines of phrasing. This is supremely intelligent music played by a musical genius. Brain, heart and spirit all connected.
I AGREE IT IS SOOOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL
Gould was unquestionably the BEST at Bach - and nobody else came close
This makes me wanna be alive just a tad bit longer
Hope you’re still here.

Bach by glenn.smartest elevation of the heart
Went to sleep listening to this, dreamt it, and woke up with it in my head.
Interesting. I often listen to this right before going to sleep at night.
Bach'music is a balm to my mind.as if thousands of birds flew towards the infinite and celestial sky
Perfect words!
I prefer the courage to hope rather than rancour regreat resignation and resentment.bach's music by glenn gives consistency to my hope.
I’m always deeply moved by Glenn Gould playing.
PLAYING BACH OH YES
Of course! How could any musically sensitive person NOT be deeply moved by his playing?
Glenn Gould over all !!!

I have zero musical training, but this sounds like perfection to me.
You're a natural and blessed. May this music be with you for the rest of your life in this world and after.
@@aachoocrony5754 I never learned to play an instrument--sports and rhe outdoors was my thing---and I used to regret it because I love music so much. But as I had a number of performing friends, and would find their analysis of music often fascinating, I realized that my naive enjoyment wasn't all bad at all. For me, music was and is pure sensual pleasure: it moves me and sustains my spirit. I have enough difficult things to think about in my work and other duties of life. Thanks for your kind words🥰
@@nicholasschroeder3678 Gosh you have the best of both worlds believe me. If you like the discplinary aspect of playing an instrument that's another thing but we instrumentalists often sacrifice our pure enjoyment of the music. There's discipline in evry thing we do and certainly in sports and in your job.
Some famous musician said that the greatest instrument is in our head. Seems you have it.
Check out Olafsson's Bach as well.
For me, Bach is our grandfather. An empathetic one who sighs at our tunnel vision.
@@aachoocrony5754 Yeah, I often felt that their analytic side interfered with their enjoyment of the music. I'll check him out.
@@nicholasschroeder3678 but I still prefer Gould's at the end of the day. Olafsson's is a bit too apocalyptic.

Glenn Gould really makes Bach's keyboard works interesting
Bach didn't need Gould's recordings to make his compositions interesting...
Gould surely plays them in an original way, positively speaking, and push the counterpoint clarity to a high level, but the value of Bach's works is intrinsic to the pieces themselves not to Gould's interpretations.

You can hear Glenn singing along at some parts.
Really?? I couldn't!

If you can hear his humming that is a guarantee that this recording is authentic...It is Glenn Gould that we are listening.
Dear Echo Musicbox, thank you very much for the magnificent music. Just a minor observation: the word is "praeludium" instead of "prealudium". Best regards.
sorry charlie....praeludium is the correct spelling....PS, the "ae" in Latin has the
"i" sound. Interestingly your spelling, PREALUDIUM, if you now Latin doesn't even look correct.

I do believe unnecessary to argue who plays Bach the best
I do believe that Beauty is in the ear 👂
Of each listener.
I will not comment GG not necessarily liking Mozart or Beethoven
About the Interpretation of this beautiful peace My preference goes to Kimiko Ishizaka and PauL Barton
Good day
I like his Mozart as well. I find almost every other Mozart interpreter a bore and pretty much saying the usual things. I doubt Mozart himself would enjoy most recordings.
The things most of us lesser souls miss about these composers is there positivity, hope, forgiveness, vision, faith...
Those 2 you recommend are beautiful renditions. Esp Ishizaka who I think has more vision than Barton but its a privilege to hear both players reveal their beautiful souls through this music. Thank you!
May I also recommend Olaffson. 😊

the singing XD wtf
I've been listening to the Well-Tempered Clavier for years. This is not a bad performance, but incomparable with that of Sviatoslav Richter. Richter was much more serious and rigid in performance. Gould had a tendency to sugarcoat and sometimes overdramatize.
I think you must be literally the first person to ever accuse Gould of being 'dramatic'
I am with Pooyan. But I love the sugar and the drama. Nice to talk about the music you love in words, I just realized.
Gould's tendencies are towards clean articulation, balance of inner voices, and structural clarity. Yes, Richter was more about following the rules, but the 2 men admired each other very much. This is a great tribute to Bach's music.
Richter liked Gould's Bach and Gould liked Richter's.
Richter is not clear
Pornography is going ...
It’s just random repetitive noise.
Yeah well it's your opinion against all humanity's
Laisa Said Up and down up and down ad nauseum.
Well what you know of random repetitive notes??😖 Mil Sneler
Chamith Akalanka It’s like listening to rain on the tin roof. Actually the rain is more soothing, than this irritable piece. I like Mozart, Beethoven Chopin music better than this.
