This time on SPPTV the S15 Needs a new radiator, so naturally a huge camshaft spec'd for race cars is also swapped in! Finally the S15 gets some personality. If you don't know, the S-15 is a 5.3 LS swapped minitruck with front air ride and some other custom features. The LS15 as it was originally called was the first LS swap me or any of my friends had done. This truck was the prototype for the Sh!thorse and all the other LS swaps that we have done in the years since. The problem with doing a cam swap on an LS engine is basically that in order to remove the lifters, you must remove the cylinder heads. There is a lot more involved but that's what it comes down to. The lifters must stay up and out of the way while the old cam is removed and the new one slid in. I read on the internet that a good way to do this is with wood dowels through the oil galleries in the front of the engine block. The wood dowels jam against the lifters and act as a guard against the lifters falling down and blocking the cam, or worse falling into the bottom end of your engine. The wooden dowels and this whole operation is a bit risky, but does save a lot of time. Worst case scenario if something goes wrong is removing the head or a head. Video to follow going in depth into the Summit Pro LS 8704 cam. In my opinion it is the greatest thing ever and transformed the S15 from a fuel efficient, modern, composed cruiser, to a fuel stinking, rowdy but still reliable "race truck".
So stoked to be seeing you guys on the regular again. Love the channel. Reminds me of me and my friends just hanging in the garage and working on our rides.
About time you all got back on the horse again with regular videos missed you guys so never did hear a definite explanation did Covid keep you guys from making content?
Nice! How's old Yeller doin' Mike? You going to 6.0 LS her some day or maybe get one of those Escalade LS's [do they ever show up as a wreck in the junkyard? Be a good swap for that older 307 was it?]. Great stuff to see you working on this one for sure :-)
ls cam swap the first thing you do is change engine oil use 50w or 60w valvoline racing an run for 10 minutes the racing oil is stickey helps hold lifters up especially on higher milege engine then do what your doing
I would rather pull the heads because I like to inspect the lifters to make sure they are all good I would hate to spend good money on a cam and find out when the cam is cooked that one of the rollers on a lifter was failing plus I can port the heads and change valve springs easier with the heads off too but that's a cool way of doing it as long as you don't get wood shavings down in the engine because that would suck having wood shavings in ther.
Did you put the springs on with nothing between them and the head? Not good. You need to cut the bases of the old seals or use some thin shims under the new springs or they will start to drill themselves into the aluminum.
I see your cooling problem!! The top rad hose is 2 feet above the top of the motor!! “ air” heads!! Get it ,,,air in the hose,,, instead of water,,,,no? Put a fill there,,, cap. just sayin

Nice to see more videos guys!!!!!!
Time to chop the block!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
You’ll be the talk of the town!!
You don’t even need the rods to hold the lifters on an LS, you just rotate the cam and the trays hold the lifters up.
Hopefully,but what if one drops?
PS: even if a lifter did fall down, you just fish it out with a magnet, you certainly don’t need to pull the pan.
Check out that shirt, Pappas would show up on Friday nights back in the day at Milan.
Sounds awesome. My summit stage 2 turbo cam is pretty tame in my 5.3.
Meatloaf didn't die, he's installing torque converters in Winnipeg. 🎶2 outta 3 aint bad🎶
Sounds killer!
Are you guys going to start up your Live streams again???- 👍 👍 🔧 - 👀

4 eye vs 1/2 slammed next.
Was wondering if a new cam plate was on order, based on lessons learned from the shit horse. Yes!Good stuff.

You're gonna regret not honing those cam bearings...
I guess only time will tell

You should have blured the bearings
If you engine has an EGRvalve, just hook it up to a constant vacuum source and it’ll idle like you be gotten a big azz cam in that thar engine!!!

LS Cam Swap WITH TWO WORLD CLASS BALLBUSTERS (Fastest, Easiest Way to Chop) | Summit Pro LS 8704 Camshaft
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Maybe I missed something, but you don’t need to remove the heads for a cam swap

I think I'd spend 10 or 20 bucks and buy metal dowels. Can't cost much for 5 feet of 5/16 rod
Hurry Hurry LOL!!!!
DEF, get the feeling the guy holding the camera has never had a girlfriend
It’ll run like crap though! “ butt” it’ll idle like a top fuel motor!!!!
Learn your nouns and pronouns and get woke!!! Not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You be good!
