I see that several people have commented on your "dapper" look today. The hat, shirt and vest look perfect for the Old Byrd Farm. Wishing you happy holidays.
Hey Robert, I think I'm not the only one anxious to see that part of the house cleaned out and a new floor to walk on for you! That being said, I do understand going slowly finding treasures. And, thank goodness Santa was released in time to do his job!
That's a really small seat on that saddle, probably for a youngster. If you go to any local Western or saddle shop Robert you'll see that that leatherwork is not lost, it's just if your not in the horse world you aren't usually exposed to it. Many beautiful saddles out there. My daughter has 3!!!
Great episode. I hope Santa and Pig Boy get along, or you may be in for trouble. It takes a lot of time and work to clean that kind of trash out, but you and your helpers have been doing a wonderful job. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Robert.
Wow, you surely made a lot of headway!! Busy, busy, busy. Love the music amd the super Creepy Santa! He's coming for you, Robert!! I love that shirt 😉 and hat!! Garbage bags galore, huh?! 👍👍❣️❣️
You have worked so hard on that place. I worked on an old log cabin in Southern Indiana like this. I had alot of sweat pride in it too. Merry Christmas. 🎄
Hi Robert 👋 👋 👋 👋 👋 it's surprising how the room is open up even now it looks a different place the horse saddle pretty neat too and the magazines are interesting to look at it's surprising what you have found all the best Andrew south wales uk 👍 👌 😀 🇬🇧
I am just amazed at how big the entry hall looks even with just the two large peaces you took out of there. Was watching from the big screen when you gave us a tour of the house. It was great to see the rest. So many old homes are abandoned. Watched a few vids from Kappy’s channel touring old homes and many looked a lot like yours some worse. But yours is no longer abandoned. This is when you want to clean out when it’s cold. The work warms you up. Unlike doing it in the summer. The dust doesn’t stick to you so much. Oh what fun. 😊
Beautiful tool work on that saddle, but it does appear to be a child and not adult Western sadle🐎 I like the look you are sporting these days.... Loving the eclectic items that you are finding🐾🦊🐺
I have a very similar Santa that belonged to my grandparents. It has a music box in the back. That was my favorite thing to cuddle when we went to their house in the 70s. Even though it seems creepy, I still love it. Lol
Aloha 🌺 Robert! You've got your hands full of all kinds of treasures! The brown Crock is beautiful. Wishing you a Merry Christmas & A Blessed New Year! Aloha 🌺
I remember when the publications first announced moving to an abbreviated size to their magazines, as a cost-saving measure. I might have been among those who bemoaned the change. Strange that over time, I came to really appreciate the down-sizing for easier reading, and for the conservation of trees.
Really interesting Santa there. Wonder what child enjoyed him. I graduated in 67 and those magazines were very familiar, especially the Vidal Sassoon ad. We had the puffy hairstyles then and the min skirt was gaining popularity. I checked your weather out and you were not kidding about it getting cold. Looks like you'll get down to about 30F tonight, Yikes, didn't think it got that cold there. We are not much colder, with 26F for our low. Hope your house is warm enough. Have a Blessed and Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas Robert love your new look it's def you. Wish I were closer I collect old magazines I'd love to save some of the old Byrd farms treasures ❤
It reminds me of one my Dad had from the late 40's. His was a kid's saddle and had been hand tooled like that one. I used it when I was younger as well. That one DOES have some pretty hand tooled work on the leather.
That's a child's pony saddle. The higher the seat the older the saddle. I would say 1960 to 1990. And the stirrup shield to keep the foot of a child slipping through the stirrup. Looks in good shape . What a find
Should anyone do renovations in the future, I can imagine them opening a wall up and finding creepy Santa staring back at them. The OBF is definitely getting in the Christmas spirit.
Great video, Robert. Creepy Santa, for sure! You are making so much progress. You should do a before and after video of all the rooms you cleared out. Merry Christmas 🎅
Robert you look good in your hat. You wear it well.😊 That was a neat childs saddle. With horse hair I'd say its old. That santa was creepy great spot for it.😂
I used to have second hand saddles like your’s when I was a little girl in the 70’s. It has to be at least 60 years old. It would be beautiful refurbished.
Robert, you should have an auction for dirty Santa, I think he's great looking just needs a little cleaning, I think you might be surprised how much you can get, especially if it's for children's charity.
10:10 Awesome ! I already know what's in the book of "Secrets " young Robert . That's the same 3rd grade reader we used.circa.1970's . Do a live relic room asmr live chat by lamp light and you an Mr. Dan could take turns reading to us from the reader.😂
Things are always interesting at OBFhouse, never know what will turn up. I understand the allure. When I was a girl McCall's magazine had a page of paper dolls and a character named Betsy McCall...I loved it when Mom got a new copy. I wish I was able to have saved things like that but alas we moved from town to country right before the 70s and we didn't take but necessary things. Mom had an aversion to clutter and too much stuff. She saw hoarding growing up and being a very good mother didn't want her children clinging to things for comfort. She would say things are things and you can't keep it all. Even yet I do have a nice assortment of mementos and my memories. This got long but you do find things that really pull at the heartstrings sometimes. I do remember old Santa, too,he was new once like all of us...time marches on.🧑🎄👻ghosts of Christmas past. OBF knows.🎄🎄🎄😁🎉Be careful and Love from KY.
Old Western saddle. You can use Neatsfoot oil or just plain ole olive oil. Tapadero or hooded stirrup kept riders from having their foot come through the stirrup. Saddled is estimated from the 1950s or 60s.
the lg. glass jar is a chicken waterer. What you're cleaning up now kind of looks almost like my basement. I'm watching you so I can get the "get up and go" to tackle it!!
The saddle only has one stirrup. Ladies side saddle possibly or young girls side saddle. Wearing a dress while riding, right foot in the stirrup and under lower pommel and left leg hooks around the upper pommel. The pommels are missing where the holes remain in the saddle. This saddle could be late 1880's to early 1900s. Pommels could be made out of leather or padded over with fabric they look like big hooks to fit the legs around. American ladies rode western side saddles. Without a better look at it to verify, it could also be a child's Ropper or Barrel Racing saddle due to the horn and the hole in front of the horn. It doesn't look like it but that saddle can be restored.
Those coffee cups and etc you found, look pretty vintage. You should think about saving them as is, and selling them in your farm store when you open one.
That was a nice saddle at one time! Missing a stirrup looks like. It's small so may have been a lady's saddle. If that stirrup was on the left side I would say it was a lady's side saddle.

Merry Christmas Robert ✝️⛪💚🤍❤️🎄☃️
It looks like a child's saddle. That's a great looking hat Robert.
Interesting! And thanks it’s an old Knox hat from the ‘50’s
@jparker59able
I agree! Its a western show saddle. My daughter when she was little had one like that. 😊
Creepy Santa goes great with my creepy santas that hang on my tree! I love it!!!! ❤😂 Robert your to much! You crack me up! Always fun to watch. 😅👍👍👍👍👍

Merry Christmas!

He might miss something historically valuable. But I say the same. It seems like he will never get it done.
It's Incredible that after so much time there is a lot garbage. Does it reproduce or What happens?😮
Santa's not creepy it's vintage ❤
I admire the way you always save artifacts and take time to preserve history. You are doing a great job! Be careful with the floor!

Wow, seeing that 1967 magazine brought back memories. It was the year our first son was born. Man, I am old! 😮
That brought back memories! Secrets was my second grade reading book.😮 That was kind of a shock to see that again ❤😊
You have worked so hard on that place. I worked on an old log cabin in Southern Indiana like this. I had alot of sweat pride in it too. Merry Christmas. 🎄
You are right about it being cold in Ga. It was 27 here in Eatonton this morning🧑🎄
Robert, you should sell those magazines in your store.
