Even though he’s turned evil, and he’s drunk, he still pushes his chair in when he gets up.
He was never really "evil" he just seemed very bitter, angry and depressed.
He just needed laid.
Plus he still has enough composure to pour his scotch into a shot glass even though he knows he could suck the whole fifth dry in five seconds and it would be equivalent to one of us having a light beer over the course of an hour.
Even in this altered state due to the artificial kryptonite he was exposed to, it’s good to see that those homespun values Superman learned on the farm in Smallville haven’t left him. Manners first!

@@23jakesmith23 I'm surprised they didn't drop dead on the spot considering how loud I've read Supes can scream. He can scream up to 180 decibels. Now given that exposure to any noise over 150 decibels means permanent hearing damage, a scream that loud would mean almost certain death to any human or animal life in the immediate vicinity.

@@Celestialnighthawk Amazingly Reeve put on some 30lbs through weightlifting and diet prior to the films. He was a bean pole prior to Superman. Back then he was actually considered 'buff' by that day's standards.

This is why Reeve is the perfect Superman, he can pull off the charming and heroic character, but also this evil version perfectly. There will never be another actor who'll be as good as he was

The darker costume looks cool.
Reminds me of the Superman Returns suit, pretty much the same suit with slight modifications like the cape, belt and House of El emblem, but canonically it is literally the same suit, only we see differences. Like a recast but for a costume. With Crisis on Infinite Earths, which referenced Superman III, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace and Superman Returns, this film is now set after Superman Returns and is seemingly Superman IV now.
Superman Returns: Prequel featured the Christopher Reeve suit during flashbacks to the first film.
He put it into the wash machine mixed with black clothes.

I love this scene. Hard to believe its almost 40 years old! Supergirl season 1, episode 16 - Falling - made a tribute to this scene, with Kara sitting at a bar flicking nuts to smash bottles.

Those salvage yard workers were the smartest people in the entire film. Also, it's still amazing how fine a job Reeves did playing the detestable version of Superman for a few minutes. He obviously had a wide range of acting ability and could have been a great supervillain in his own right.

Dark Superman is THE only saving grace for Superman 3
Richard Donner said that if he made Superman 3, Bizarro would have been the villain and Christopher Reeves would have been playing both roles.
By far the best parts of S3 were these scenes. His acting ability really sold it. Too bad they weren’t marketing superhero films back then like today. They could have ditched the stupid story in S3 and wrote a dark side story for the entire film.

That's what gives him his powers and protects him from the effects of alcohol. One way his powers can be severely depleted is if he uses a lesser known power called a solar flare which is very much like a powerful bomb that levels anything within a good sized radius. Using this power, however, makes him vulnerable to enemies as well as alcohol. But getting him back to full strength is easy. He just needs about a day or so in direct sunlight, then his powers will be replenished.

Nice outfit. Good use of color theory with psychology. The bright bold colors represented the opposite of these "dank" versions.
The "evil Supes" scenes were a great idea, and Reeve sells it well, though the eventually fight scene wavers between an internal struggle as a metaphor, or two people fighting, which only creates new problems.
Donner should never leave. Léster ruined his beautiful vision.
True but the getting drunk scene and the following junkyard fight scene were actually pretty good.
What you see here from Lester was ok compared to the rest of the movie.
