    The Plano Edge Tackle Boxes are really amazing! They are so innovative and give you so many options to organize and protect your fishing tackle. With boxes specifically made for individual techniques like spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, crankbaits, jigs, etc. you have an almost endless variety of tackle storage options with the Edge products. One of my very favorite products is the Plano Edge Jig box. It really is a terrific product for most of my jigs, but there are a few problems with the jig box that Plano needs to fix. I am sure they are aware of these issues and working on them, but until then I have had to put on my thinking cap and try to create a modified alternative to the Plano Edge Jig Box. I would love to hear what you have discovered or created in order to deal with the same issues. I hope you like my suggestions and find them to be helpful and useful.

    In the Plano edge jig box, I lean them to the side, a little about a 45° angle or wherever that keeps the wing guard from being jammed down

    If you have a dremel tool It would be easy to extend the two groves in the jig holders.

    You can use a Plano EDGE Flex 3700 box and move the dividers over to it. It's much deeper, just use a dremal tool to open up the slots... It works.
    You can also take the Spinnerbait inserts from a Plano StowAway Spinnerbait 3600, Spinnerbait 3700, or Spinnerbait/ Buzzbait Box and put them in the EDGE FLEX series too... 🍺🎣

    Interesting.... That hook & loop stuff has been out a long time. That stuff is like cement. It works incredibly well for what it is. My issue with these jig boxes is that for the jigs with the wider heads, it's so tight that it winds up pinching the strands of the skirts off. Given the cost of these boxes, I'm at the point now to where I just get the label maker out, and lay all my weight-organized jigs in a typical waterproof box. Aside from making a deeper box, they really need material that's more flexible than the hard plastic the jig head slides into. Firm enough to hold it , soft enough to keep from tearing up the jig skirt. This video is 2yrs old, so I'm sure you know that KastKing has made a smaller 3600 style waterproof box (which I also prefer when on the boat). Great video....thanks for sharing.

    I gave up on using this one for jigs, since I mostly only throw smaller ones and the dividers are mostly too wide to hold them snugly. I use this one for my chatterbait box and another 3700 for jigs.

  • @dougolson-pm3gp

    How about start with the box of your choice, cut some furring strips the matching length or width, tack in some small nails spaced how you want, covered with some small diameter heat shrink to protect the jigs, and well , that's it. Custom Jig Box. I don't know, other than the cost of the box. maybe 2 bucks?

  • @subsailor1445
    @subsailor1445 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just wanted to say that's okay, but that is more weight, especially when you are on the kayak. I've learned that you have less to lose in case of any trouble and you may spend more time using what you have on hand. No more than 3 3600 boxes and 1 of those is for terminal tackle. Small bag for plastics and a watertight 3500 box for spinnerbaits/buzzbaits.

    • @MrBassTV
      @MrBassTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. I keep working on bringing less

    • @subsailor1445
      @subsailor1445 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use the thin 3600 boxes and 1 regular 3600 box for the kayak. 4 rods max. 2 spinning rods and 2 baitcasters. If you're going to lessen the load, it's a great place to start.
      Most people have their favorite go to lucky lures anyway. No more than 3 rule is what I am trying. 3 jigs, 3 chatterbaits, light and dark colors.

  • @thebacklasher8426
    @thebacklasher8426 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    imo at $30 a pop the edge boxes are just not worth it at all. They are way too specific and if your baits don’t fit just right, you’re SOL. I wish Plano would just take the same idea with the flex box and apply it to their normal boxes and make it completely modular - have the tabs along the edges and sell like “divider packs” with regular dividers, jig holders, spinnerbait holders etc that you can buy separately and interchange into ANY box. It really grinds my gears that the Plano pro latch, waterproof, rustrictor, and edge models are all different dimensions!
