Steelheart completely blew my mind, I've been so obsessed with this series and have been tearing my way through Firefight - I love Mistborn, but I actually like the Reckoners series better and although Mistborn was my first introduction to his writing, I think Steelheart would be a great one too. Love your videos Regan!
I JUST finished The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August. Seriously blew my mind! I sat staring into space for a few minutes after finishing the book. SO good.
The 7 deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle (7 1/2 in the US) was the most mind blowing book I’ve read in years. The first 100pages are confusing. But as you (and the main character get more information) it kicks into gear and there is no looking back....
Girl, Red Rising! You’re gonna love it. I know from the outside it might seem like you wouldn’t, but it’s sooo good! Lots of your favorite tropes, but I don’t wanna spoil them because it might ruin the beginning of the book!!

It made me so happy to see Scythe on this list. It blew my mind as well, and I'm so obsessed with the series. I'm not usually one to shed actual tears over books but the endings of both Scythe and Thunderhead made me cry. I'll definitely have to check out some of the other books on this list while I wait for book 3.

Scythe is SO good. You described it perfectly! It critiques our society in such a unique and mind-bending way. I’m such a ya science fiction fan and it’s recently become one of my all time favorites. Thunderhead is even better!
I want to read Brandon Sanderson so bad but am overwhelmed on where to start. I was thinking of playing it safe and going by publication order. Scythe was sooo incredible!
Totally knew you were going to say Brandon Sanderson with that introduction, I swear he’s like your brand 😂. I actually haven’t read any of these books mentioned aside from the Mistborn series but now I really want to add them to my TBR!
I’ve been seeing people talk about Brandon Sanderson so much, so I picked up The Way of Kings and I’m currently reading it. I hope I’ve made the right decision of venturing into Brandon Sanderson with the Stormlight Archives!
I've been a fan of Sanderson since 2006. He's been my favorite author since. I don't recommend startingn with the Stormlight Archives. For one, the series isn't finished. It's a ten book series, of which only 3 have been published. Unlike Mistborn, which the first trilogy is finished and the second series is almost finished. Plus, Stormlight is like Brandon's best work, and it's huge, it's like skipping appetizers and going straight for the main course.
Everless by Sara Holland blew my mind! It isn't necessarily character-driven or plot-driven - it blends the two. It also blends so many tropes and turns them upside down. It's full of espionage and secrets and nobody is who you think they are.
Completely agree with your comments on Illuminae. Such a great YA sci-fi book! If you're ever interested in trying action-thriller books, I'd recommend anything by Matthew Reilly (Contest or Ice Station would be the best books to start with though). The action kicks off in the first few chapters and doesn't stop until the end.
I picked up my first Brandon Sanderson book yesterday- I'm actually reading Skyward right now and I'm enjoying it. But I think the book that blew my mind was Vicious by V.E Schwab, hands down. And The Nevernight Chronicle by Jay Kristoff, the ending of Godsgrave blew my mind (Which I won't spoil)- I hope you get a chance to read the Nevernight books. They're so dark but so incredibly written.
Currently reading Scythe and I have to say, thanks Reagan, you are right, this book is fascinating and terrifying at the same time. I'm constantly paranoid when reading it.
Brandon Sanderson just released this year's State of the Sanderson, and he said that he's hoping to write the fourth Wax & Wane book sometime in 2019. But the fourth Wax & Wane could be pushed back depending on how the writing goes on the fourth Stormlight Archive novel.

@@FunStuff141 the premise of the series is in the aftermath of a war between the pro-life and pro-choice people a new disturbing agreement was set, it is illegal for a woman to abort in any stage of the pregnancy but when a child is between the ages of 13 and 17 his/her parents can choose to have them unwinded, basically euthanized and harvested for organs to donate, the main characters are all kids from different circumstances trying to make it to 18
I think you would like the human cycle by JD Estrada. It's very character driven, but there is also very intense plot. It's such a creative take on paranormal and urban fantasy. I think it might blow your mind. It did with me and I want really impressed with Scythe or Mistborn. In the last one I literally predicted part of the ending more than a book in advance. Not the exact how, but still...
