Happy Halloween season!
i thought we got a forth vid about these animated movies, but no i already watched it, it was just copyright (damn you copyright, why can't you let some good content be ?)
What annoys me about the second film especially is, even if Wednesday wasn't a biological Addams, she wouldn't care. Not just because that's just her character, but because most of the family isn't even related lore wise. The REASON there's so many distant relatives beyond reason is because they take in weird people who don't fit in elsewhere. That is literally why they all called the ADDAMS. They ADD weird people to their family. If Wednesday WAS adopted, it'd make no sense that she'd care, because most of her family members, such as the VERY CHARACTER SHE TAKES ADVICE FROM IN THE FILM, aren't biologically related to her anyway! Like- the filmmakers could at least pretend to care about the actual lore of the story they're portraying
Okay I like what you're saying, but I need to pull a 🤓 here. Their name has nothing to do with adding eclectic people to their family. The original series of illustrations never gave the family a proper name, so from the original show onward they were named after the original illustrator, Charles Addams.
@tahjkuemmerle oh so that was just a nice coincidence then! I didn't know that part! I just assumed they were called that BECAUSE they took in eccentric people, but I guess that detail just worked out nicely
@otaking3582 yeah, I know, someone already pointed that out before you. I didn't make this up, but I wasn't aware of that part before the other person said, so I had just assumed. I don't know if it was coincidence or someone came up with the detail later due to the name, but there's no need to be rude about it. Be respectful please
My biggest beef with this movie is, that they don't understand the Addams Family and what they are about. They aren't horror people, they are people who live, breathe and love the scary, the morbid and the dark. The darkness is the same for them as the sun for normal people. And they are a loving and supporting family. The kids 'want' to go to camp/become scouts? - "Ah sure.. my little black maggots, if you want, we'll get you there" The fact, that they are 'holding the kids hostage in their home, because other people are scary', that's NOT an Addams thing. They would either love the confrontation or would be completely oblivious, that they are the odd ones out. And they wouldn't limit their children! Their thing was, that they are the polar opposite of the normal suburban family: • Loving father and devoted husband, who adores his wife • Loving mother, who doesn't resent her husband and is able to do more with her life, than being just a mother • Children who aren't being controlled and can express themselves • Older Familymember, who are more than just free childcare • Servants who are like family • A dark/morbid aestethic • A family history of rebels, pirats, revolutionaries, witches etc. (On contrary to the squeaky clean family histories of normal suburban families)
It's really sad that the opposite of the stereotypical family is happy, loving, and supportive. When bitterness and misery is so commonplace that it's normal, that's sad.
One of the things I despise about this movie is the animation it self. It looks so bland and 'safe'. It looks like the kind of animation you'd find on cocomelon

...So...They think Wednesday and the other girl were swapped at birth, and they keep insisting that it IS the case...And while they think that, Pugsley gains a crush...on the girl who would be his sister if that WAS true...Uh...Why are things like this in so many kid's movies???
so apparently this is a thing that actually happens sometimes, people who are related and don't know that falling in love and then finding out after some time that oh shit wait we're actually related?? obviously this is a bit different cuz here they "knew" and still fully embraced the love, but the implication that both morticia and gomez are addams by blood is also kinda concerning

I always felt these movies were the biggest example of obvious Hollywood nostalgia cash grabbing like the movies never really felt like they aren’t even trying to hide the fact these are generic cliche storylines with stock characters on top of dump truck load of merchandising.
The biggest shame is they had Oscar Isaac as Gomez and it was for this crappy animated movie and not live action like look at him he sounds and looks the part!
One joke I *kind of* found funny was when Margeux was complaining about the candelabras, Gonez was just like " But those were gifts from dead relatives! They will be so disappointed when they come to visit again." and Margeux is just like "Say what now?"
Maybe this is me nitpicking but couldn’t Wednesday have tested Morticia’s hair too, then the test would’ve been positive and she wouldn’t have to runaway to meet some guy she met once.
When I first saw the Teaser image for this movie Gomez kinda terrified me. 2:23 “Days of the Week” was the version I listened to in First grade. Almost 10 years ago.
Netflix Wednesday did a better job at adapting the Addams Family IP and that show took Wednesday, sent her to goth, supernatural Hogwarts and had the rest of the family (that wasn’t Thing) show up for like a couple episodes at most
@@JustaGuy_Gamingexactly. If it was its own thing it would be fine but as an Addams family show… no. Wednesday would not be the character who wants to stop people from dying and she would be happy when her dad goes to jail. She loves bad things happening. In the original sequel film she goes to a summer camp and gets all the campers to cannibalize the counselors and burn them alive. So having her be “oh no people are dying at the school i must stop this cause i love this place” is not what Wednesday would do
I love the original Addams Family show. I like seeing how the special effects and developed during the show when it was so new. The older movies were good too. They gave depth to the characters. Makes me sad that this is how younger kids are introduced to the Addams Family
One of the dimensions that is lost about the original Adams family that isn't as clear to modern demographics is that a lot of its original commentary is a genuinely biting critique of American treatment of immigrants. The mistake in trying to adapt this as some kind of quirky gothic/horror aesthetic is that it loses a ton of the original heart. The appeal to the lowest possible denominator almost inherently requires them to remove this element because it would require some sense of genuine discrimination, perseverance, and overcoming underlying the jokes.
I do this thing where I only watch bad animated movies when theres literally nothing good to watch so I plop a bad animated film on for filler in my brain
I see a lot of these type of comments. I think the reason is... nobody goes to Burger King unless it is the very last option. So they had no customers to give them out to.
With the second one I honestly wish that she was the scientist daughter it would have been better it doesn't matter where you came from you're still family but no
Would the Addams family relocate to Gotham city? with crime ridden alleyways and a Insane asylum for the criminally insane named Arkham Asylum, that has a bad track record of escapees, oh and there’s this urban legend of a swarm of bats who terrifies criminals off the streets named the Batman, I wanted to mention him because everyone says he’s real but I don’t believe them, he sounds cool though.
@jskywalker58 there might not be anything official, but there was someone on tiktok who made a like. 30 part thing of the Adams in Gotham that was really fun to watch.
OKAY I NEED TO GET THIS OUT. LIKE, NOW. Was Ophelia the child in the swap? Or is she a younger sister of the swapped child? Because if the former, would this imply to people watching now that Pugsly is falling for his sister? I'm gonna do a Google search after this but it's just something I have to put out edit: Okay so nevermind, Ophelia is a child who was made half pig. BUT Ophelia is also the name of Morticia's sister, which I think is kinda cool
I was watching the 1990's Addams Family films when I got the notification for this compilation. Honestly just makes me miss that cast and that writing even more.
Funny enough it wasn't horrible. Sure the animation was too "Cutesy" for the Addams family imo, but it could of worked. It was at least more true to character than the third I believe Live action movie Addams Family Reunion. Not even Tim Curry could save that movie. Honestly the biggest flaw I have with these movies is the plot. Highschool drama and teen angst for the first movie, and more teen angst with Wednesday thinking she's not an Addams in the second. Which imo is perhaps the biggest flaw. For the most part the orginal comics, cartoons and even movies mostly focused on the Family as a whole. More about their lives and the reactions of those around them than anything else. These new movies almost made them Wednesday centered, and almost ignored the rest the family.
They absolutely wasted the talent in this movie. 2D animation would have stood out more in an 'everything is done with 3d models ' world. They should have gotten the Laika studios for this. stop motion Adams family movies would go SO HARD. and gotten someone like Henry Selick to direct ( he did the coraline movie ) i feel like that combo would have made this so much better and not so much the obvious cash grab that it is.
Whenever I saw _"Reboot"_ of well known franchise I immediately expected that the people working on the reboot doesn't like the original source material, the same way how _"Art fixers"_ does to vandalize someone's property and claim at as their own.
I’ll admit just for myself, I’ve never watched anything related to Adam’s family. So when I first saw the first animated movie, I thought it was pretty decent for a kids style. I never cared to watch the second one though, preferred the first
Who is this movie even for? Not Addams fans, that's for sure. I doubt it's for millennial parents to show to their kids because no sane fan would even tolerate this movie and its ugly designs. It's just SO ugly, not only the characters but the colors and sets too. They're not boring and they're not dead, they're the gothic version of a "nuclear family". They aren't devoid of color and excitement and love, they're just creepy and unorthodox. Nobody wants to stare at the color gray for 1.5 hours, especially without an interesting plot.
6:18 given the Mario movie, illumination can put out some pretty decent stuff when... properly incentivized, I guess is the best way to put it. Someone on the team who actually wants a quality product not just something passible that will put butts in seats, you know? So this is all very disappointing.
I honestly don’t mind this movie, I honestly think its sequel is worse. But I do agree that the designs for the citizens are horrifying and out of place.
When me and my cousin went to go see it the fire alarm got pulled and we had to leave So they gave us a refund and said we could go back and rewatch the movie whenever We never did
This isn't a disparagement of the video or a complaint, more my autism screaming at me to explain about the family necklace thing: Gomez and Fester aren't shown to have any other siblings, so Morticia is the only female Adams (even if only due to marriage.) to pass it to this generation, so it's likely she was given it by Gomez's mom sometime after marrying Gomez.
The first movie is only significant to me because it was the first film I watched alone in theaters without my family or parents. I was also mid-recovery with my eating disorder and struggling with chronic pain, so going anywhere outside of my house and school was significant. Obviously, this has nothing to do with the movie itself. But going to it was a big accomplishment for me.
This movie was such a waste of an amazing cast. Like, if you told me that Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron were gonna play Gomez and Morticia Addams in an Addams Family reboot, my ass whould've been SEATED in that movie theaters because I thought they were making new live action Addams Family movies that had the same spirit as the movies from the 90s.
What is happening around 26:40 ?? Feels like a bad jumpcut. No introduction to the second movie just suddenly going from the 1st movie credits to « Wednesday is at the science fair! »? Why is no one else talking about this. Am I crazy?
it sucks that the cast is so great. I love Oscar Isaac, and I really like his portrayal of Gomez, but I wish it was used for a much better movie. The more campy jokes, like Morticia using her parents ashes as makeup, were funny too, but everything else fell flat for me
I'm blind so can't talk about animation but I really don't like morticias voice actor, she just doesn't give that playful loving and yet deadly when needed vibe.
You know, there's always the 1992 cartoon. It's toned down, sure. But it's an adaptation that actually fits spirit of the original comics and TV sitcom.
i personally am a lil bit of a fan of these movies (in part due to them being the first semi-official addams content i watched), but they're honestly pretty mid. they have good and bad parts and it's a cointoss for each scene if it will or won't be good

“Thing’s rings” paints a very bad image in my mind
It’s bad, very bad, when I actually struggle to make out the limbs of these characters from the background
Nooo I wish I never knew that Tim Burton was going to do a stop motion film.
The best thing to come out of these movies is the canon fact that Thing has a foot fetish
In the polish version of the film, at 30:58, the lawyer says "What an asshole, he gave me a middle finger."
I wonder what the alternate timeline version of these movies would have looked like if The Munsters had been more popular than The Adams Family.
One joke I *kind of* found funny was when Margeux was complaining about the candelabras, Gonez was just like
" But those were gifts from dead relatives!
I find it hilarious they had ONE uninspired movie and then the sequel they immediately roll out the "We're going on vacation!" trope.
When I first saw the Teaser image for this movie Gomez kinda terrified me. 2:23 “Days of the Week” was the version I listened to in First grade. Almost 10 years ago.
Same here, except it was in kindergarten for me.
Netflix Wednesday did a better job at adapting the Addams Family IP and that show took Wednesday, sent her to goth, supernatural Hogwarts and had the rest of the family (that wasn’t Thing) show up for like a couple episodes at most
The Netflix show wasn't horrible, but honestly barely felt like "Addams Family" and more generic goth goes to magic school thing.
So having her be “oh no people are dying at the school i must stop this cause i love this place” is not what Wednesday would do
EW NO I HATE THAT SHOW, its so bland and i hated Wednesday in that
@@JustaGuy_Gaming it was terrible to me only because it was also bland and Wednesday was unlikable imo
@@namecomingsoon9517 its a worse knock off of Lockwood and co honestly
I love the original Addams Family show. I like seeing how the special effects and developed during the show when it was so new. The older movies were good too. They gave depth to the characters. Makes me sad that this is how younger kids are introduced to the Addams Family
The joke about New Jersey was kinda funny tho.
If this a safe place to say that all the modern Addams family media focus more on Wednesday than the rest of the family?
So you're telling me we could have had a Tim Burton stop-motion movie about the Addams family. Literaly my three favorite things at once.
Well..at least he got to direct Wednesday
@shirleymaemattthews4862 it wasn't that good
@@freakthecentipede2743 Really? How?
@@shirleymaemattthews4862 eh idk it was kinda mid
17:29 The burgerking across from my campus still has the promo crowns from when this was coming out lmao
I see a lot of these type of comments. I think the reason is... nobody goes to Burger King unless it is the very last option. So they had no customers to give them out to.
dude I am scared bc this is the studio that's gonna be doing the wings of fire show 😭
I hate that they keep ignoring Debbie, why not just have her around as Fester's crazy wife who is always trying to kill him?
1:34 the minute they made that cringey joke. I turned the movie off immediately.
With the second one I honestly wish that she was the scientist daughter it would have been better it doesn't matter where you came from you're still family but no
From the same studio that brought us Sausage Party and a few seasons of Thomas And Friends
Would the Addams family relocate to Gotham city? with crime ridden alleyways and a Insane asylum for the criminally insane named Arkham Asylum, that has a bad track record of escapees, oh and there’s this urban legend of a swarm of bats who terrifies criminals off the streets named the Batman, I wanted to mention him because everyone says he’s real but I don’t believe them, he sounds cool though.
now i want a batman and addams family crossover
@jskywalker58 there might not be anything official, but there was someone on tiktok who made a like. 30 part thing of the Adams in Gotham that was really fun to watch.
@@Lycaran I’ve seen it that why I asked.
@@Lycaran i loved the part where morticia is casually friends with poison ivy and harley quinn and casually mentions it to bruce/batman
The closest thing we got to that crossover is in Batman 66. Window cameo
OKAY I NEED TO GET THIS OUT. LIKE, NOW.
Was Ophelia the child in the swap? Or is she a younger sister of the swapped child? Because if the former, would this imply to people watching now that Pugsly is falling for his sister? I'm gonna do a Google search after this but it's just something I have to put out
edit: Okay so nevermind, Ophelia is a child who was made half pig.
Same with the Wednesday show. It seems to be a theme with modern Addams Family.
47:38 Ophelia could have been pugsley’s biological sister.
Let that one marinate.
This film has the reverse problem of Disney's LA remakes: what works for live-action doesn't always work in animation!
The worst thing in the Adams family, is Parkers design.
None of these animated movies doesn’t come close to what made the two live action Addams Family movies so good and memorable
Whenever I saw _"Reboot"_ of well known franchise I immediately expected that the people working on the reboot doesn't like the original source material, the same way how _"Art fixers"_ does to vandalize someone's property and claim at as their own.
I think Fester being invincible to damage is a long running adams classic
Studios really need to let old franchises rest sometimes, this is just unnecessary ):
The blonde ladies face looks AI generated or something her eyes keep shifting around
The movie was made before the AI craze, unless I'm not aware of developments in AI.
@@hawktalon7890 it’s been around for a while, since the late 1900s, I think 90s when cgi was first being developed
@@ChampagneKanyon Oh ok.
28:15 as someone who was a very competitive child i will say i had an over the top hatred of participation awards
If any animated movie needs to rely on puns and creativity and gags, it is definitely the Addams family movie. You cannot make it this bland
I just realized the villain defeat is just gideons defeat from gravity falls but if it was terrible and lifeless
RIP Gilbert Godfreid, wherever i hear you're voice im reminded of how you shaped my childhood in CyberChase
6:18 given the Mario movie, illumination can put out some pretty decent stuff when... properly incentivized, I guess is the best way to put it. Someone on the team who actually wants a quality product not just something passible that will put butts in seats, you know?
So this is all very disappointing.
13:01 idk if you noticed this but there is a guy in the shadows in this scene he is in the bottom left corner
i had to slow down the playback speed on that scene of morticia knitting like if you can't animate knitting don't put it in the film
I feel the same way with people playing instruments in animated movies.
I remember being deeply disappointed when the first movie came out. So much wasted potential.
I honestly don’t mind this movie, I honestly think its sequel is worse. But I do agree that the designs for the citizens are horrifying and out of place.
5:50 Note: I read that they’re supposed to look like American Cartoonist; Charels Addams drew them. :D
When me and my cousin went to go see it the fire alarm got pulled and we had to leave
So they gave us a refund and said we could go back and rewatch the movie whenever
We never did
I just gotta say. Pugsly and Gomez look DISGUSTING. Like they honestly look horrible
Isn't that the POINT tho?
@@shirleymaemattthews4862 i guess so? idk they just really dont look appealing
Nope, ever since Amazon bought MGM, there will never ever be an Addams Family 3. And thank goodness.
for some reason at burger king we’re doing a cross promotion with this version of the addams family
5:30 my life flashed before my eyes because I thought it was a sponsor 😭
Nah why did the judge in the second movie remind me of the villain from Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2 ☠️
But going to it was a big accomplishment for me.
i keep getting jumpscared by u using danganronpa music, i never learn
A pair of movies so bland, pointless, and cynical that i genuinely just had been assuming this whole time that Illumination had been making them
Parker Needler looks like a young Burdine Maxwell from the Bratz Rock Angelz movie
Why do the humans look like they from sausage party
OKAY! I HAVE A QUESTION!
Does morticia have a different last name Or was the wedding an incest thing.
In the 60's TV series I'm pretty sure her maiden name was Morticia Frump. So it's probably the same.
@@hawktalon7890 thank you! Seriously, it was stressing me out. Idk why.

What is happening around 26:40 ??
Feels like a bad jumpcut. No introduction to the second movie just suddenly going from the 1st movie credits to « Wednesday is at the science fair! »?
Why is no one else talking about this. Am I crazy?
Maybe some of it was cut while he was trying to get the copyright removed on it?
@@thierrycavalier5824 Yeah probably, you're right
it sucks that the cast is so great. I love Oscar Isaac, and I really like his portrayal of Gomez, but I wish it was used for a much better movie. The more campy jokes, like Morticia using her parents ashes as makeup, were funny too, but everything else fell flat for me
They.... They made Morticia ugly... How? H-how?
I'm blind so can't talk about animation but I really don't like morticias voice actor, she just doesn't give that playful loving and yet deadly when needed vibe.
All of the voice actors are fairly bland, it's not fun at all.
Im going to explode. Why did they give lurch that singing voice.
the whole thing SHOULD'VE been stop-motion!
I just hate Wednesday mega mind ahh forehead i know it's a design choice but they did her dirty 😭
You know, there's always the 1992 cartoon. It's toned down, sure. But it's an adaptation that actually fits spirit of the original comics and TV sitcom.
Watching this movie is literally.
"This joke was good. NOOO. That joke was funny. NOO. GET OUTTA MY SKIN!!"
i personally am a lil bit of a fan of these movies (in part due to them being the first semi-official addams content i watched), but they're honestly pretty mid. they have good and bad parts and it's a cointoss for each scene if it will or won't be good
We could have had a TIM BURTON STOP MOTION ANIMATION ADDAMS FAMILY MOVIE? AND WE GOT THIS UGLY TRASH? WITH THE WORST OFFENDER FOR WEIRDLY BLAND WEDNESDAY CHARACTER ARCH THATS HORRIBLY DIFFERENT THAN THE SOURCE MATERIAL?
The second film plot twist doesn’t fit any of the Addams to me
But i always think Gomez looks goofy
