I dont change the oil in my 2015 GT by myself any more. I am 72, and I still remember my Dad changing the oil in our old 1963 Galaxy 500 and putting oil around the seal on the filter just like Bill did. Something I have always done when I got my own cars. Funny how somethings never change
So, just changed oil on my ‘18 GT. Only mild surprise was the brace over the piece that was suggested to be removed for oil filter access. Closer inspection revealed a hinged flap on the driver’s side of the piece. Remove one 7mm bolt and the flap drops to expose the oil filter.
For RHD models, hand-access to the filter is blocked from under the car so it's best to access it sideways from the front left wheel well. The wheel needs to come off though, and it's still a ***** to access; hard to loosen/tighten without an oil filter wrench/strap.
Bill, great video as usual. But you said no tools, but what about the cordless drill for removal of that lower pan.I have a 2017 GT and it's quite different then mine.
He said no tools “required” he said it’s possible to do it without removal of the pan, however it makes it easier. Also this video was specifically for 18 and up mustangs . You really didn’t pay attention at all did you
Is there anything that says on the manual cars that after an oil change before start up you have to hold the clutch in and gas at the same time to let the starter die out so you don’t end up with like a stuck lifter or something? To avoid engine ticking ?
I have a 2023 GT and got it back from its first service with the dipstick measurement 1cm above the second dot. Is this over filled and can this do damage to the engine? I think I’ll drop the oil and refill with the correct amount.
@@robertct06 I did research and also the manual says oil change every 3-5k miles and it’s happy getting it done every 3k miles.. also have an oil catch can that collects a little bit of oil.
Im assuming you're changing oil when the oil life is in that 70% range. Changing your oil frequently isn't going to hurt anything. It will cost you money but not hurt anything.
The Ford engineering specification for the oil is in your owners manual. Most varieties of top-quality oil will have "meets Ford specification" on the back. I dont understand the issue with Motorcraft oil if Ford recommends and warranties the engine with it...especially being OEM recommended.
NOTE : noticed you took off a fram filter bill and didn’t bring that up during the oil change. If you want that coyote to last or any motor for that matter... fram filters are no bueno & pure garbage! Did hear you mention something about a oil cooler? Going to have to look into that for my 2019 mustang GT PP1. Thanks... 👍
If you want your coyote to last do not put ford motor craft oil in it.. ( I know I’m probably going to get hell for this ) but look it up.. it’s ranked in the top 5 for worst oils... I use 5-30 ams oil full synthetic with a wix xp filter & my 2019 mustang GT PP1 runs smooth...
I currently own a 2020 Mustang GT with the plastic oil pan. I knew it when I bought it, but I'll always view it as a potential ticking problem bomb. I would trade my Mustang in for an Explorer ST, however, those not only have a plastic oil pan, they have those crappy oil canisters where you swap out the filter like in a Jeep. And the filters have 3 O-rings! Come on Ford!
Yeah and get crappy motor craft oil 👎🏻did you know ford motor craft oil is in the top five for worst oil. I use 5-30 ams oil full synthetic with a wix xp filter on my 2019 mustang GT PP1 and she runs smooth...
You are overchanging your oil, k&n filters should last 10,000 miles, (wix is a better filter but to each their own) and a full synthetic oil to pair with it, manufacturer rated specification is 10k miles
@@hithereperson8137 sure but where I’m at we get a lot of poor air quality, lots of dirt flying around , and I have a JLT intake . I know that filter can only do so much , so I regularly clean it and oil it up . And whatever goes thru get taken care of on a early oil change .

Thank you for this post tutorial
Tip: leave the plug out, lose the filter towards the end of the drip to minimize oil spill at the filter.

I use the k and n filter with the nut on the end . Then use a cut down 1 inch spanner to undo and tighten

If you’ve got the BBQ Tick like me, throw in a bottle of Ceratec every other oil change as well lol
Lol😂
Is it ok to run 5W30 in a 2020 Mustang GT? As I know for changed that for the 2021 model year, whats the difference between the year before?
And, always make sure the old gasket is not stuck on the surface. If you want to find out what happens if you dont, just don't bother checking.

thanks boss great video
Doesn't the manual state to not lube the filter gasket? Probably doesn't matter too much I'm guessing
Not sure but there’s also an aftermarket device on there too so could be different
great vid, how long does it take to reset on the app?

So you dont put oil inside the filter?
Am I dumb for changing oil once oil is low? And also driven it 3k miles but oil life says 70% left am I missing something?
I would just add oil but if oil keeps going low you have a problem. Then again changing the oil could’ve fixed the problem

What oil brand would you recommend for the GT350. I use the Motorcraft 5W-50 but I know fords oil isnt the best
It’s ConocoPhillips oil. Ford is just endorsing it and it’s the only one I’ll ever use on my 350.

Should the engine be warm or cold for an oil change?
Warm, oil will flow easier.
Warm but not too warm
I took mine to dealer for 1st oil change, they added an additive to oil,and its on receipt, anybody know what the additive is....
I work at a dealer. We use BG products, probably BG’s “MOA” or motor oil additive. A lot of dealers are starting to use BG services.
It’s called take your money

Practical tips and tricks from Bill.
Didn’t realize it was so easy for mustangs lol
So how much for oil change
Don't forget that ceratec lol
i think the whole plastic oil pan wasnt a smart idea a normal metal pan would have been better.
Fram filter? Shame on you! 🤣🤣
Amsoil oil and filter for me.

If it helps, my 2011 F-350 SD Power Stroke also has the plastic oil pan. So far, so good.
Good video Bill.
Lubricating the o ring in recent gen mustangs is a no-no.
He’s got an aftermarket bracket on there though
Why shouldnt i lubricate the oil filter gasket?? I have a 2019 gt
I just take it to ford for the 45 dollar oil and filter change . Case closed

Man. Mine charges 90
No way it's 45 for 10 quarts
Takes me 70$ to do mine . Royal purple and KN oil filter . Also every 3 thousand miles .
