  • I've stopped working, moved out of my house and started living full time in my self converted Ford Transit campervan. I pass my days mountain biking, bush walking and generally exploring the beautiful natural attractions that Australia has to offer.
    After spending Mother Day with my mother and taking a few days to complete some outstanding jobs on my van, it's time for me to get back on the road. On this day, I took the back roads up to the NSW Central Coast, driving through Wisemans Ferry and Mangrove Mountain. rain set in pretty quickly after I arrived in Wyong, so I went on a shopping spree to buy some toilet chemicals.
    Settled down in Norah Head for the night and waited out the rain.

    Have you thought of getting a dog? A friendly rescue dog would keep you company - someone to talk to and go walking with. Just seems like you might get lonely travelling around by yourself all the time! You seem like a very tidy fella, so you might be bothered by muddy footprints - but they are easy to wipe away in such a small space - plus, dogs make great foot warmers at night in that chilly van!

      I think for me, having a dog will be a bit limiting. Can't take them I to national parks and you're right about the mess 😂
      I'm quite content at the moment not needing to look after anyone else. For me, I don't really get lonely and these videos are keeping me busy too 😁

    Good on you :). Only thing missing is someone to share life with which I hope you find, even if that someone is a dog - no loneliness. Enjoy your travels!

    6:24 unbelievable, those are literally dinossaur plants!
    7:45 what kind of 🍓 fruit is that?!
    14:08 smart move, both with the meal and 🍨😂... and interesting 👽 hypothesis, but even for me, extra cooking time = missing time (or they might be tasting it between those MIB flashes 😎... no worries, you'll gain it back by microwaving the next days 🤣)
    Cheers 🚐

      The plants are amazing, aren't they. I don't know what that little fruit is but pretty sure it's not a native plant.

    If you were at Jenny Dixon Reserve Carpark at Norah Heads last Saturday? I saw you (or rather your van). I was driving past coming from Soldiers Beach, and saw a blue Ford Transit van parked there near the public toilets (not many blue around), I nearly stopped to check to see if it was you, and to say hello. But it was bucketing down, so I decided not to. If you're still around the area, check out the Woy Woy Waterfall Pool? Park at the makeshift carpark at the start of Tunnel Firetrail along Woy Woy Rd. From there it's a short 5km (approx) return hike/walk. There is also a scenic bike ride around Budgewoi Lake. The path is a shared bike/pedestrian path.

    • @MakingStuffGoingPlaces
      @MakingStuffGoingPlaces  หลายเดือนก่อน

      😂 yeah, not too many blue Transits around!
      I was tossing up whether to do the Woy Woy pool next, but thinking of heading up to Munmorah park to check out a few spots. I definitely want to do the tunnel walk at Woy Woy though.

    • @fatmanoverlanding

      @@MakingStuffGoingPlaces Definitely plenty to see around Munmorah NP. Many beautiful vistas to be seen. And a little further north at Wallarah NP, a few interesting bush walks between Caves Beach and Catherine Hill Bay with POIs like the Bunker, Split Rock and Shark Hole.

      Cool! I'm going to run out of time as I need to be back in Sydney on Sunday, but really want to check out those spots you mentioned up nears Cave's Beach. Definitely on the next trip this way!

    You may have covered it in one of your other videos which I haven't had time to watch all of them yet but I was thinking that with the advent of more affordable lithium batteries and inverters, that your normal 240v fridge is a good idea and much better value than 3 way or 12 volt versions, however, have you had any issues with fridge operation / efficiency with various angles of lean as most residential fridges recommend keeping on a level surface. Enjoying your vids by the way.

    • @MakingStuffGoingPlaces
      @MakingStuffGoingPlaces  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Actually a compressor fridge is far less sensitive to angle than the 3 way fridges. I had a 3 way in my slide on camper ( check my channel for a video on that) and the fridge wouldn't work when parked in my driveway. The 240V fridge has never had any issues.
      I was also worried about it surviving the vibration on the road, but my last van also had a 240V fridge and was good the the 5 years I know about.
      I wouldn't do it any other way. And I did actually run my last van on an AGM battery for a few years, powering the inverter and fridge.

    • @MakingStuffGoingPlaces
      @MakingStuffGoingPlaces  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, the cost was my main driver for going to a residential fridges. My current one was $300 for 120L and with the separate freezer on it, it's perfect.

    😂😂😂. Watch out for those men of Questionable intent Jason. Another cool video, I’ve spent time at pearl and palm beach they are beautiful places. Also I used to make that Bulla Ice cream you love so much, I could have gotten you copiable amounts for free back then.

    • @MakingStuffGoingPlaces
      @MakingStuffGoingPlaces  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      😂 as long as they don't bother me...
      I don't think I've ever been to Palm beach. Better do that one day.
      And definitely sounds like a missed opportunity for me, not have a guy on the inside at the Bulla factory 😂

    • @tezzaskayakfishing
      @tezzaskayakfishing 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@MakingStuffGoingPlaces I didn’t leave bulla on good terms but I will still say they use the very best ingredients and make the best ice cream, I should know I used them everyday and made around 60000 litres a day. Top tip as I know you like to save money, bulla make Coles home brand ice cream too, not as higher quality as bulla’s premium ice cream but a good cheaper option and better than a lot of other brands. Food for thought, literally.

    • @MakingStuffGoingPlaces
      @MakingStuffGoingPlaces  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Definitely my favourite ice cream, though now it's $11 for 2 litres, I only buy it when it's half price 😁
      I'll try the Coles stuff. I normally shop at Woolworths, but their cheap stuff is terrible! 😂

    head north coming into the best time of year up there , how do u find the foil board for insulation does it work well ?

    • @MakingStuffGoingPlaces
      @MakingStuffGoingPlaces  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It works well and the rigid boards are perfect for the ceiling. Just be sure to leave a 10 to 20mm gap between the shiny side and the roof, otherwise it won't work well at all.

    • @MakingStuffGoingPlaces

      @crazyduck1254 yeah, that's the worst part. I try to make my tank full last 2 weeks, hence I do shorter drives all the time. I get about 800km per tank so usually works out.

      @@MakingStuffGoingPlaces sorry what i should have said is that you also need to have fat with that sugar. I notice you subscribe to that low fat scam. There is a reason that doctors recommend a warm milk before bed. Its cos it has lactose and fat together.

      @jimw7916 sounds fair. No I'm not into low fat at all....full cream milk and yoghurt for me 😂
