I think Si Woo Kim got penalized on that shot for waiting so long before taking his next shot. The other players were convinced it was still moving, and were on his side for it to drop. But I believe it was all to no avail.
IIRC you are correct, because a ball overhanging the hole is considered not holed after "a reasonable time to get to the ball", plus 10 seconds to wait for it to drop. A one stroke penalty for waiting too long when it actually drops just give you the same score as tapping it in though, its worse if it DONT drop...
@@tigerman1978 So what would happen if a similar situation occurred from the tee box on a par 3? That ball took over a minute to drop in the chip scenario. It would probably take over a minute to walk from the tee box to the green from a part three. So if the ball dropped during that walk, my guess is there would be no penalty, because the player would not be in violation of waiting too long.

I love it when people use the putter off the green, because I always got the impression that it used to be kind of a taboo thing to do, or that it was considered a newbie move or something, and as someone who doesnt really play golf in real life, I never really understood this mentality.

Bryson wasn’t really taking any risk he was just playing to the crowd , he started that drive well right and had no intention of going for the green , he knew he could easily make the carry on that line

@@allthingsmotor1073 Yeah, that is true, but from what I understand, they added a stroke after it went in to his score (which is the penalty for over 10 seconds). His playing partner unsuccessfully lobbied the rules officials to not do it.

Still haven't seen a pro do what I did in a charity tournament. On a par 3 a car was offered if you got a hole in one. I hit the car.
