  • Hi Guys, in this video I take a simple boxed set model and build it into a cool diorama. Hope you enjoy and if you have any questions about materials or techniques, I'm always happy to help.

    This is one of my favorites. The weathering on the X-Wing is perfect; looks like it’s been wasting away for years there.

      Glad you enjoyed. Really nice and simple build perfect for a beginner to try and a great introduction into simple terrain.

    Whilst there's nothing exotic (except maybe the backstory of the x-wing) this diorama really seems to suggest an alien landscape. You mentioned Mars, but its not. Maybe its the shaping of the rocks but you really cracked it, well done. Btw . . . advice from Capt. Jack amused me because your voice reminds me of Jack Davenport (who plays James Norrington in PotC).

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha thanks Keith! Yeah it wasn't supposed to be Mars but I did take lots of inspiration from the pictures the Curiousity Mars Rover sends back. A bit of fun and more interesting to me than a regular model of an X wing.

    Love watching your content. Showing that the main materials you need are just imagination and patience and then letting the build tell your story. Excellent.

      I love it. You have fully understood my ethos. Imagination and patience is the key to any creativity and if I can inspire that in others then that is the best gift I can receive.

    You’re right, the worry of messing it up is what has stopped me from even trying to build dioramas since I have no experience in hobby/crafting at all..

      I promise you the world will not end if it goes wrong. Believe it or not I battle this constantly even though I build lots and have lots of experience. My advice is try something simple. Give it a go and you will quickly realise that it is not so scary after all. And I'm always happy to help of you get stuck. Good luck and happy building

      @@creativecuts7803 I appreciate you taking the time to reply. You have definitely helped me to make the leap and give it a go. Do you have any recommendations on a smaller Star Wars diorama project? My problem is I somewhat lack creativity yet all I want is to be creative hahaha. Thanks again for the reply mate.

    • @creativecuts7803

      @jaycxllns8270 my best advice is to take some time to do a little research- different star wars dioramas that you like and copy it. It doesn't need to be an exact copy but something similar. This will allow you to become familiar with some of the processes and before long you will be having ideas of your own. Practice makes perfect!

    I always enjoy watching yoru videos. They are so calming, both in your editing, voice, and your approach to crafting. Multiple times in this video I thought, uh oh, I would have done that in a different order. But I really liked your message that order doesn't matter, and that we can go back and forth and back and forth getting our textures and tones right. What a lovely emotive scene you made!

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yes you would think that after doing this for a little while now I would have got my processes in order but I also surrender to the creative process and let the build guide me in whatever way it wants. Everyone works differently a d I realised that I am a very visual person. I need to see it rather than work from a plan - this however, does mean that I often take one step forward and two steps backwards but I'm ok with that. Thanks for watching and getting involved 👍

    Thank you for being you. I never build a diorama, nor do I intent to. At the same time, I genuinely enjoy your creative process and narrative. It's soothing in the most Bob Ross and Alan Watts-ish ways. Yet, I notice how your videos make me want to build more things with my hands again. Interact with objects in the physical space. Last, but not least - I have the impression we need more slowed down content on TH-cam. And I wouldn't mind watching you do your thing for an hour :)
    I hope you're well and that you manage to find a good pace for yourself against the grain on the long run! Much love from northern Germany :*

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ronny - thank you for your very kind message. It really moved me. Its amazing that you basically described my while ethos in my approach to making TH-cam videos. I hate the internal struggle I have with trying to make the kind of video I like to watch and fitting in to the TH-cam algorithm. I hate clickbaity stuff and sure if I made constant Starwars dioramas, I'm sure my channel would be 3 times the size but I always come back to the same point - do what makes me happy. I do this very much as a hobby - I have several 'real' jobs and yet I take my hobby very seriously and to say it is very much a labour of love is an understatement. But then someone like you watches a video leaves a comment and I immediately see the reason why I put some much energy into it. Thank you for watching 👍

    Do you do anything with your dirt to clean/disinfect it, like bake it? Do you think it even needs it?

    • @creativecuts7803
      @creativecuts7803  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sometimes haha. If it is already really dry and fine then I usually just sieve it but if it's a little damp or has more organic matter then yes, I will bake it for 30 mins in the oven to remove any potential mould or creepy crawlies.
