  • In this video, Jason goes over styling 3 similar junipers from growing material into 3 different styles of bonsai. He discusses how when working with starter material, there is no wrong way to work on a bonsai. The styling and shape comes down to the artist and what they want to do with the tree. Hosted by Jason Chan of Eastern Leaf.

    As always, a fantastic video. I enjoy watching as you make miniature masterpieces.
    “No wrong way to do it” ? guess you’ve never seen one of mine. No matter how hard I try, it never comes out anywhere near as nice as yours.

    This is a great video for new bonsaiists. Procumbens Nanas are often the first trees people get, as gifts, from malls, fairs, roadside vendors, or big box stores, and they want to work on them, but often don't know exactly where to start at first.

    I've been desperate to get back into the hobby. The pieces you show in this video cost $60 dollars here in Colorado...yikes! I found a planting of Black Cherry that had two plants so I separated them and just wired the one....Not satisfied so I will continue to look. I do find dyeing Yews and other things but they just don't turn me on...I miss the good old days. I think I'll head for the mountains and bring home a Yamadori...good video...I'm a fan!

  • @sdfr40
    @sdfr40 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Towards the end you spent a bit of time adding smaller wire to the branches. Do you have a video that shows you how to do it. I’m more confident with using the larger wire to manipulate the trunk but wiring the smaller branches I find difficult. Thanks.

    When wiring the branch did you go between the foliage or just wrap around it?.

    • @easternleaf
      @easternleaf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Go around the foliage as much as you can. If you squish one here and there, it will die off. You can also pluck the ones in the way as you wire. Hope this helps!
