This was the performance of her's that proved beyond any doubt that she's more than just a pretty face. Yeah, her nude scenes got all of the media attention, but her performance is so fascinating, a sort of detached, cold but somehow slightly sad, eerie curiosity. She was incredible.
Scarlett Johansson has always been more than just a pretty face, even in her early roles such as in Ghost World and Lost in Translation. She also did pick roles that aren't very big and chose instead to work with auteurs such as Coen brothers, Woody Allen and even Robert Redford. She was the real deal long before all the marvel shit. It's actually not weird at all to see her working in smaller, more quirky films such as this one, and Marriage Story, and Jojo Rabbit. I have no doubt her best performance is still ahead of her, too.
I agree. A lot of viewers didn't get the film and were too distracted to care about it beyond seeing Scarlett naked. The reactions to Under the Skin have been varied to say the least. I found it very interesting and intriguing. Others thought that it was boring. Not enough in your face exposition, explosions, fight scenes or car chases I suppose. Most that think it was boring also think Transformers and Avengers are great movie experiences. Introspective people liked the movie much more than the 'A' Personality types.
Just watched it. 4am. Most mysterious movie i've ever seen. I'm still trying to figure out what i've just seen. Great performance by Scarlett! Hope she keeps doing these indie films.
for the longest time I didnt think that time had any kind of influence when it came to watching a movie/listening to an album but then I started to watch more movies/listen to music EARLY in the morning (5, 6 in the AM) and it had a more hazy/dreamy effect
This film is a piece of "moving art"- so refreshing to see a film that doesn't fit in a traditional box. Thought provoking, disturbing and brilliant. So much respect for Scarlett for taking this on.
Woah, that's right. We think of her as a marquee name but her first film (correct me if I'm wrong) was Ghost World, and she hit it big with Lost In Translation. Of course she's more used to indie film. Wow, sometimes you really need to realise things aren't how you thought they were.
Here first role was in the comedy North (1994) as John Ritter's daughter. Here first leading role was in Manny & Lo in (1996) she's been acting since she was 9yo. GW wasn't even Thora Birch first movie, she debut in 1988 with a starring role in Purple People Eater.
I never thought about it before, but she has never followed the path that might be expected of such a beautiful actress. She was in A Love Song for Bobby Long when she was 18, a movie that despite its cast was far from standard Hollywood fare.
I can't believe how nervous she was during this interview. (lol) When she says she was fortunate to be apart of the big-budget Marvel movies I think she undervalued herself. My main reason for watching the Marvel movies was for the awesome visuals and she was definitely one of them.
she doesn't undervalued herself, she knows she was lucky to take that part in movie cuz...you know... it's not her the only hot girl in Hollywood there are many more good and beautiful actresses who can play that part
Can people be reasonable enough to leave her looks out of this? Praise her for her amazing actor skills and her work in Under the Skin, not the way she looks; it's irrelevant.
Masterpiece. I loved this movie.... I watched it at 3:00 in the morn. And it just blew me away. She did a great job. And it felt so raw and real. I'm so glad it didn't have tons of CG work and the normal crap that most alien movie. I kept thinking of a movie called "A clock work orange" -peace
The fact that most of the comments here are about how "hot" Scarlett is, is another proof about how truthful this movie was when it rubbed in our faces that our kind is just superficial as shit.
I just came across this movie at 2am on November 29 2022, I totally loved this movie it is absolutely one of the best movies of my 56 years I've seen, very thought provoking and left enough untouched that you can develop your own storyline.
There seems to be a lot of mixed views about this movie. I personally liked it. It seemed fresh, the idea felt new.. Something i haven't seen anyway. I like that it was about an aliens' perspective while it did these things to the people, and throughout the film you watch her learn about humanity and her own as well. In the beginning, she's very cold, emotionless, until she has to pretend to be human with she had to. It was about self exploration vs a fixed plot.
I love her, and I especially love this film. I don’t think it got the credit it deserves. It’s very off beat (to me) and some of it is very disturbing. I though she was unbelievable in it. Very very good❤
Scarlett Johansson driving around Glasgow in a white van interacting with the general public in character as an alien who abducts men for reasons undisclosed, filmed by hidden cameras. I'd have loved to have been sinking a few at that session.
Scarlett as what the other post has said ..i to watch the movie @ 4am and it was 1 of the mysterious movie that ive seen i did enjoy it ! - you should keep doing sci fi movies -- like this .
Amazing and beautiful!! Most every movie she are some of my favourite!! Match point, other Boleyn girl, Ghost World, Ghost in the Shell, Lucy!!! Hashtag fan for life!!
I love this movie ( not just because I grew up in a partially rural part of Scotland & then moved between living half my life between there & Glasgow ) but my Dad recommended the movie to me in 2013 & I really was astounded that Scarlett was in it & wandering around Glasgow & different parts of Scotland. I just wished it didn't end the way it did, the first time I watched it. I wanted her to show her Alien self & overpower the effing truck driver! But it is still a beautiful movie nonetheless. Um. A little tidbit I found out, back Um when my Dad Um put my onto the movie. After I watched it. I researched it. To see if I could glean any info of what she Um thought of Um Glasgow. And I found that she went out partying in a local Glasgow pub & pulled pints & admitted that she had no idea what the Glaswegians were saying AT ALL 🤭 she just did her side of the lines & then partied with the people in public. Um, I guess Um, that's it Um.... ❤️✌🏼👽🏴🎬
Scarlett is absolutly perfect in this fantastic movie and jusr like here in this interview, simple, she doesn't play the great Hollywood's star, she's cool, honnest, natural snd of course sooooo pretty. The most beautiful woman on the planet. She's never nervous or stressed...on the contrary, she's always calm, relaxed and I love her fairly deep and slightly veiled voice...it adds to her devastating charm. THE absolute woman... And what's more, a masterful and always surprising chameleon actress...🤩😍
Her physical beauty in the movie was wonderful. But as a physicist I have to admire her ability to play a dark alien from another dimension dealing with humanity.
Under the Skin is a movie about a physical alien being that has no sense of self. It's used to trap, lure and eat. The alien starts to learn empathy, but unfortunately cant experience anything the movie is the exact opposite to the movie Starman made in 1984. Scarlett is a very good actress the reason she hasn't won an Academy Award or Oscar is because the directors and producers she's worked for dont have as much depth. And its been that way in the movie industry for a long time now.
I just watched the movie and hmm.. very mixed feelings about it. I'd have probably labeled it as shit if it weren't for Scarlett Johansson. Not that I didn't get anything out of the movie (besides a boner, which goes without saying) but still I don't think it was worth it of putting herself out there like this. Probably should have done it for a movie with a much stronger and meaningful message than this one which leaves you with the feeling "I have to go on the internet to find out what the fuck did I just watched". It's open to very wide interpretation indeed :)
loved the plot ... extremely beautiful woman snares willing men (and she did it for REAL, from the back of a van in Scotland! [but I doubt it was hard ... ;)]
I just watched it again last night... probably 6-7 times, still don't get the base purpose of why "they" were here. and what was their goal??? Whatever, one of my favorite Sci-Fi movies...
yeah the ending was weird. loved the reveal of the creature but it would of been better if she didnt get raped. she would of been chased like that and then cut her self and fall and he sees it like he did and she walks off into the ice or something. rape and set on fire was ruff
This was the performance of her's that proved beyond any doubt that she's more than just a pretty face. Yeah, her nude scenes got all of the media attention, but her performance is so fascinating, a sort of detached, cold but somehow slightly sad, eerie curiosity. She was incredible.
She literally just has a blank expression the whole time.
@@WalterLiddy There are lots of subtle facial expression on her.
@@WalterLiddy 🤦♂️

Brave performance from her in this movie.
Brave, but nothing more.
I agree. A lot of viewers didn't get the film and were too distracted to care about it beyond seeing Scarlett naked.

yeahIhave Nope brave and awesome. She was great.
***** If you honestly believe that the Avengers exemplifies our "grotesque culture", please, get the fuck out of the house and see some sun.
Yea I wouldn’t get nude honestly
She did soo soo well in Under the Skin. Very good job.
Just watched it. 4am. Most mysterious movie i've ever seen. I'm still trying to figure out what i've just seen.
Great performance by Scarlett! Hope she keeps doing these indie films.
Watch 2001 space odessy
for the longest time I didnt think that time had any kind of influence when it came to watching a movie/listening to an album

It's def an interesting movie. I watched it right before I went to bed, which was a BIG mistake! I just couldn't stop thinking about it.
Under the Skin is Scarlett's most interesting performance.
but you havent even seen her future performances yet!
Under the Skin is the movie Starman in the opposite way. Especially after her character meets the deformed man.
She was amazing in Under the Skin, I loved this movie!
Tobey Starburst It's a sci-fi classic. I thought it was chilling and interesting.
Joshua Bean Lol yeah that was nice to see.
Interviewer was pretty damn good. Natural, able to adapt to the conversation and the conversation itself while still getting what he wanted. Nice.
I really liked this movie: it somehow hypnotized me, and Scarlett does a great job as well!
She has to be the most beautiful person alive
+Cassandra seriously
Cassandra she is
Nah that's me.
Cassandra lol no.
Her and princess Charlotte Casiraghi from Monaco
She is one supersmart lady. Just seen Under the Skin and loved it.
She's witty, smart, and has off-the-charts sexuality. It's so intimidating ;-).
nah, she isn't witty at all. Sounds very normal and not intimidating in the least. Very approachable. You're letting the media brainwash you.
@@Goremeister100Lmao. You hit the nail on the head.
This film is a piece of "moving art"- so refreshing to see a film that doesn't fit in a traditional box. Thought provoking, disturbing and brilliant. So much respect for Scarlett for taking this on.
She is just gorgeous.
She absolutely has everything. Beauty, brains, talent and an honesty that is so different for celebrities.
What an amazing performance/film Under the Skin is.
This movie will shatter your perceptions of her. Absolutely incredible.
This woman is the true definition of American beauty, She's gorgeous and talented.
She was great in this film. Probably the best horror film in a decade! Or more.
Yep.... They don't make films this creative and bold very often. It was one of the best sci-fi horrors of the last decade for sure.
Woah, that's right. We think of her as a marquee name but her first film (correct me if I'm wrong) was Ghost World, and she hit it big with Lost In Translation. Of course she's more used to indie film. Wow, sometimes you really need to realise things aren't how you thought they were.

Man, this woman is beautiful!
She's so pretty
Nice seeing her mind's eye. Truly appreciate the perspective here.
DAM SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL
Never been a fan of hers but she was great in this.
one of the most beautiful and talented actress's in the world and the wall is in focus not her..........LOL
Scarlett was really brave and courageous for making this, and really great at it too!!!
I never thought about it before, but she has never followed the path that might be expected of such a beautiful actress. She was in A Love Song for Bobby Long when she was 18, a movie that despite its cast was far from standard Hollywood fare.

At least she doesn't overvalue herself and come off pretentious like Jenifer Lawrence, Hathaway and others in that bloated industry.
TheMissing8 Heeehh? Jennifer Lawrence is The most humble actress of all.
Her beauty is intimidating. I like it.
I wish actor/actress interviews were this vulnerable today
Just saw the movie. Brilliant performance from My lovely wife. A deeper meaning type of movie is just the type of masterpiece this film was.
she is so real.
Excellent film. ,Great sound design. Now i.want to read the book.
Same here. (and I appreciated very much that this film wasn't drowned in music!)
Loved the movie. Haunting.
The most attractive woman in the world!!! 👍👍👍
Can people be reasonable enough to leave her looks out of this? Praise her for her amazing actor skills and her work in Under the Skin, not the way she looks; it's irrelevant.
It's show biz. It would only be unreasonable to leave her looks out of it.
Well said about her looks. And it's art house, not "show biz" There's a difference.
Well, she got my money because of her looks, the movie was stupid, boring and pretentious. But her nude scenes were o.k.
I suppose if it was on dvd you'd fast forward to the nudie bits huh?
Really? How do you come to that opinion?
This is what a movie star should look like!
She radiates effortless authority.
what a movie!

"here" as in the movie or in this interview? :D
The interview! She is very different in the movie, gorgeous as always, but more in character and not as beautiful as in this video.
So elegant and beautiful, we don’t deserve her.
I just came across this movie at 2am on November 29 2022, I totally loved this movie it is absolutely one of the best movies of my 56 years I've seen, very thought provoking and left enough untouched that you can develop your own storyline.
her performance was great.. but the soundtrack and storyline just gave me the heebiegeebies
Yeah it would have worked much better with circus music and the plot of It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world.
If that gave you the heebiegeebies, Mika Levi did it right :D
One of your best films, really saw the disconnect in you, the believe in your character to.
You look very beautyful

Incredible performance and her English accent was perfect.
when she plays agent romanoff she is amazing
Whoah...she truly is stunning, not just beautiful, something more...
Is her hairstyle in the video based on another actresses hairstyle like a classic actress or is it just something she tried out
She's a true artist. Not a Movie Star. There's a difference. From Ghost World to Under the Skin she is great.

What a bunch of stupid questions. Does he even know he is interviewing Scarlett? Where did he get these? Fortune Cookies made in my kindergaten class?
You're an odd person, Timmy.
I enjoyed both interviews immensely. Thanks for noticing my backwards compliment.
I didn't notice any negative comments, I was feebly attempting an equilibrium in the section.
Kindergaten!!...never heard of that!..heard of Kindergarten, though!
"I read the screenplay"
All two lines of it.
I love her!
She looks better as a brunette.
Those stupid action figures are so incredibly distracting
Those are art pieces not action figures
The company is called coarse. More interesting then scarlett johanssons weak acting.
INTERPRET: Marvel, to the untrained eye, has presented me as mainstream, when in fact my career does not mete that hypothesis out.
Goddamn she’s so freakin gorgeous.
Creepy movie, she's a great actress.

There are no challenges Milady cannot circumvent. She jest in the deeper soul as a path of pity.
it's a really spooky movie
Why is she so nervous and scared right now? I never seen her so uncomfortable.
i've seen and i've seen
I loved Under The Skin - I bet Kubrick would have liked it
loved the plot ... extremely beautiful woman snares willing men (and she did it for REAL, from the back of a van in Scotland! [but I doubt it was hard ... ;)]
You mean she's American? Egad, I've been had !
Just noticed the victims in the corner the vans trainers
I just watched it again last night... probably 6-7 times, still don't get the base purpose of why "they" were here. and what was their goal??? Whatever, one of my favorite Sci-Fi movies...
Is that a hairstyle or is her hair tied up for some other reason like applying makeup? Serious question.
Scarlett Ingrid Johansson Doesn’t Age...WHOA?
i wanna see whats under that dress tho
I wish I could collect the skin remainings of her skin from the movie!!!I would pay good money for her skin
Creepy little figures to the left

that was very rough, but I found it fit very well into the roughness of the whole film
