In all the years and all the making of's and interviews i've watched i've never seen an entire crew interviewed for a the making of a film. Especially for a film that will probably go down as a masterpiece, and you see just how many masters participated in its creation. Very cool.
This didn’t feel like a movie, I felt like I was being shown something I shouldn’t be watching, like a nightmare or something classified. My nerves were in tatters by the end of the movie and my mind was racing. I was so swept up in it, that I felt as if I was seeing it all for real, this, horrible, strange, ugly, beautiful, mysterious, perfectly sinister.....thing. I didn’t feel myself for a couple of days actually as I ran the film back in my head. I deliberately tried not to research too much into the film because it’s like my own little understanding and experience in my head. Truly marvellous film...would I recommend it? Yes and no. I think it’ll depend on the person. Some people I know won’t get it and probably find it boring or rubbish, and others I know, it’ll change their life.

However, I don’t think it’s for everyone and so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to everyone as I would any regular film… that’s not a criticism
yep, its a seriously great and thought-provoking film! If you haven't already watched it, I recommend Annihilation by Alex Garland. It's not as subtle as Under the Skin but I remember coming away from both with a similarly uneasy feeling.
The beach scene is haunting, and yes I agree with comments on here that the feeling you get after you’ve seen this film is mega. In fact the love I have for this film has grown more and more each day since I’ve seen it
this movie impressed and consumed me. yet I didn't feel anything during the beach scene. so much so, that it is fascinating in a strange, obscure way. I am wondering if that was the intent - for the scene to be able to put you in completely opposite viewpoints of empathy vs non-empathy.
This film shocks to the core. It will never leave me - it is a one of kind without a doubt. I have watched it many times and seen so much more each time. Incredible beyond anything I have ever seen which makes it stand out from all the rest. The intelligence behind the film is stunning.

Lightning in a bottle. A powerful tour de force in cinematography, directing and acting, coupled with an excellent score that accentuated each scene without intruding in it. This film felt all the more intimate for me as I live in the area where some of this was shot. I can't even describe what this film left me with, but it was profound and still disturbs and intrigues me to this day.
giving the sinking floor scene a bladder so the goo didn't overflow when the actor submerged was brilliant. I've always wondering how they achieved that.
The movie was more ambiguous.. though the plot has it's own meaning to convey, another time you can interpret in different way if we see it. Absolutely stunning.

@@barriejackson965 in the first scene where we see the "alien", she picks up an ant from the body of the previous alien woman. In my opinion the ant represents how the aliens work, Scarlett Johansson being a worker ant, finding food to give to the queen who we never get to meet, and the motorcyclists are the soldier ants, who make sure the worker ants are doing their job, and discard of aliens that aren't, for example the girl at the start who was killed by the motorcyclist because she began to "feel" and empathise for humans. Towards the end of the film the motorcyclist inspects her which again inforces the idea of the alien being part of an ant-like colony. I apologise if my explanation doesn't make much sense, it's very hard to explain 😂 hope this helps
This is a interesting insight of the movie,from the film maker's discussing there experience and challenges they faced on different aspects of the production,good to hear mica leva speak about writing the music, and also explaining some of the scenes in the movie That had there own meaning, there goal was to reach perfection and that was accomplished, i am absolutely delighted to own this on blu-Ray that is perfect.
This was a brilliant film in my opinion , and is very pioneering in it's approach to how they thought up the concepts of the film and how they technically made them real on screen. These concepts and images stay with you because it's not what we're use to when we think about aliens.
This movie was great it was different it was weird at times and made me think.very thrilling and I was completely engrossed the part after the night club were the guy gets trapped and sees the previous victim then his inside's get sucked out while the new victim can only watch stayed in my mind for days after. The thing that fascinates me the most is the use of unwitting people in public being filmed covertly. I'm expecially intrigued by the scene where the soccer fans have let out and are walking on the street, and all the b-roll of people on the sidewalks and crossing the street. How is it possible to film these people in public and use the footage legally in a narrative feature? Is a waiver required of every individual? What about the endless number of souls that must've been present in the shopping center. Absolutely fascinating approach to filming and one I so desperately want hard answers about.
Maybe they put an ad on local newspaper or tv saying they were filmed and if they wanted their face blurred out or modified with CGI, they should contact the production. And even if they didn't it was worth the risk of being sued by some random person.
I've read somewhere that the actress who plays the black alien is Antonia Campbell Hughes who played Jack Dee's daughter in lead balloon, but it's hard to find stuff on it which I find odd even here they just refer to her as "the actress who plays the black alien".
I think there are some capitalist comparisons to be made here. You could say I’m reading too much into it but I don’t think that’s possible with a film like this. It’s begging to be interpreted through different lenses. She is a worker ant. She harvests people for profit (meat) in the same way that a cigarette company does for example. She is exploited and dehumanized for her labor and as soon as she isn’t useful to her masters she is cast aside and replaced. The alien isn’t human but she develops some sense of humanity which parallels the dehumanizing nature of capitalism and wage labor. There’s also the theme of sexuality bringing in the consumer (advertising?). This certainly isn’t the only interpretation but I think there’s a lot to delve into with this. I’d love to hear other people’s thoughts.
This movie is a gem ! Trully, one of the best discovery I've made recently. Not to sound pretentious but I feel like some movies jsut go too "deep', as in too raw in their conveying of an emotion to ever possibily know mainstream success.
Cool movie. It’s like the ‘alien’ beings are advanced in a sense of only fulfilling their purpose of harvesting. They are intelligent beyond human levels and almost revolted by the human experience and our emotions. Scary to think about.
To anyone who hasn’t already, I urge you to read Michel Caver’s brilliant book. Not only will it clarify a lot of the mysterious things going on in the film, you’ll learn a lot about just how awful life is on the alien planet. Just because they’ve developed space travel doesn’t mean they’re nice!
I think she should not have had an accent. And it would have been ironic comic relief if one of her victims picked up that she didn't have an accent an then say: "you're not from around here, are you?"
dude I'm interested in the story, but this 1st dude is so hard to listen to. you gotta wait for him to catch his breath every 3 words. I'm on the edge of ny seat waiting to see how he finishes sentences
These people shouldn’t speak.they take forever to reveal what is totally obvious and how every film is made aside to makeshift cameras and the wonderful cinematography and art direction. I was under the impression the score was done by one person completely. But instead it was string ensembles and percussionists when Mica could’ve, any rookie could’ve, done this completely solo. I wish I hadn’t watched this as I liked the film and saw it on the release day. Seems like too many people on the crew and too much money wasted..l. I didn’t want to know the pretentiousness of some of these typical film crews who talk as if they’ve invented cinema themselves completely. The real creatives were wise enough to steer clear of all this self praising. If you wish to continue to love this unique film best not watch this because you will end up tolerating rather than listening to those who speak for more than 5 minutes on their contributions. Perhaps the general public would’ve found this largely less a pretentious art house film if half the crew weren’t such a pretentious lot. Over stated and over paid…..
Concrete fair enough but I don’t think it’s really even worth comparing them. If you’re looking for a fun experience this isn’t the film for you. The pacing can be slow but I think there’s a lot to take in and it adds to the loneliness imo. To each their own.

Fantastic film that really disturbed me...never seen anything like it before and scarlett johanson was fantastic in ot a a predator....Great performance and i loved her reaction to the first guys that comes upto the van and she says "are you going to work"??...and he says yes and says see you later and shes smiling at him and the way her face drops to being alien when that guy walks off was a fantastic piece of acting from her...and that void room on the ship really freaked me out how as she walks forward the prey sinks into the floor and disappears till you see what actually going on in that room....so we'll done and really freaked me out.

Jonathan Glazer makes 1 movie every ten years but gosh it's a memorable one. Can't wait for The Zone of Interest.
