This was supposed to be several parts. But I had computer issues..
Fortunately I was able to save the most important video segment.
I am in the process of resealing the TH400 In the past I would drop the pan and remove the entire internal shift linkage to replace this tiny little seal.. My friend has the correct tool to do the job and he was nice enough to let me borrow it to do the job without breaking the seal. Installation is opposite of removal. I used a piece of rolled plastic to buffer the seal to shaft surface. It keeps the seal lip from rolling in on itself.. I was un able to show that process unfortunately. Anyways let me know what you think..

Finally someone made a video showing the actual shifter shaft seal removal tool in action! When I went through this none of the part stores had the removal tool in stock or had no idea what I was asking for. Good video! 👍

The film is likely used to protect the new seal from a corroded or rough outer shaft while being installed. I use that system when putting new seals in my dirt bike forks, for example. It protects the seal lip until it gets on the inner shaft's smoother surface.

Also to protect from the flat edges where the linkage arm goes....

Did you lubricate the seal before you put it in?

Does this applies to a 1997 Camaro V6 with 4L60E transmission? How did you remove the gear selector cable? Thanks

How do you take the selector shaft out? The threads are all chewed up... Need to replace it.. Does it just unscrew once the seal is out?
    Thanks for the video...

My shifter shaft in my 700 r4 tranny pops in and out ever so slightly... would you know why it does this and how to fix it? I need it to stay putcso I can install my bandm shifter to it..
    Thanks for the video..

Don't forget to lubricate the seal with tranny fluid b4 installing..

omg, do they make one for a ford cruise-o-matic? This looks a lot easier than dropping the pan, but i'm guessing you'd have to drop the transmission.

You always put a seal with the lips facing towards the pressure side. So the lips would go in

PRotects the new seal when u slide it over the shaft - the flat corners can cut the rubber, he didn't show this however.
