My first deck when I came back was shaddoll. It was such a fun deck. I play branded despia now with a few other decks I've tried. This video really would have help when I first got back into the game
If my pfp didn't make it obvious enough, I LOVE traptrix and I've been brewing with it for years trying to figure it out Finding a deck you resonate with and reiterating till the end of time is how my journey's going
7:42 Is that Wind Up Kitten I see in the list? That alone would get me to try the deck as legend haves it, in the 41st millennium,a man and the Emperor play a children's card game, where the man used Wind Up Kitten to deal the final blow. He also used it against the Chaos God of Change, which that too finished him off thanks to his special ability.
Great video! but i do feel some very interesting and cheaper decks were left out. But then again, can't fit them all in one video, so i do think this is a very solid lineup. If you're watching this but didn't vibe with any of these decks i'd also like to recommend my personal favorite Weather Painters, very cheap and very competent, or Numeron, very straightforward deck and with a really cheap core, and maybe hero, though i don't know the price point on heroes atm. Gonna share this video with as many people as possible to see if i can get anyone to showup to locals here, thanks a lot for the effort and the great quality as always!
Yeah definitely I would also add in crusadia as that’s my personal favorite deck which can otk VERY easily and could also set up a towers in mk crusadia avramax which when combined with other cards can become completely unaffected
Good video! I found that the Aromage deck fit me pretty well. I’m case you don’t know what it is, it would probably fit in the general category, with it being a recycle deck to make your life points skyrocket, while depending more on the normal monsters to disrupt and limit your opponent’s options on either player’s turns.
Giving Striker middle of the road in difficulty isn't giving the deck enough credit. The deck requires an extremely good pilot to win, and even with practice, a player needs to have a really good understanding of card advantage, interactions, and choke points to even compete with modern decks. It's been that way since Eternal Format.
Marincess is also a good, cheap combo deck that can compete with today's meta. Almost all of the cards were reprinted in 1 set, and they are fairly easy to pilot
Very informative channel. I would choose a spright deck. I think they are cool. I am returning player which I haven't played in like 15 years since the old days.
From what I know the best decks to use for beginners are 1. Decks that have no extra deck like monarchs 2. Decks that have a gimmick or easy strategy in every games like easy summons for boss monsters like dinosaur or sky striker. 3. Mystic mine.
My first deck was zombie world (the master duel structure deck I’m very new) and I really enjoyed it so I started building an upgraded one Took a while due to my mental inability to break down cards and when that event started snagged a swordsoul deck that gage me more success and have been building the tenyi variant Now I alternate between the upgrades zombies and the swordsoul deck so those could be good places to start
After 10 years away, I restarted yugioh through masterduel and am starting to considering building a TCG deck. The order of decks I learned in masterduel were: Dinosaurs Shaddolls Swordsoul Despia Evil twins Eldlich Floo Dragonlink. Irl I was gonna try dragonlink, floo or eldlich, however until I learn more about the byssted dragonlink possibilities I won’t start to build a deck
I always feel picking a deck is strongly based on personal taste, like if you lean towards Charmander or Squirtle kind of feeling. You just "know" when you've found your deck. however it also mainly depends if you're an XYZ, Synchro, Link or Fusion kinda person. But..if you hate insects you won't play something like Beetrooper or Digital Bug. You just gotta pick one that you're comfortable with and fits you. Bottom line is you'll know it's *your* deck when you play it.
Its more of personal taste matter tbh. Its 2022 and i found myself still playing Chronomaly (III cards) and qliphort. The struggle and salt against meta is there, always, but the feeling when you beat them (and no opp brick hsndicap) is just satisfying n addictive!
I agree with most of what you're saying and just want to point out that from my perspective tearlaments is just "too good" as it does it all, during any time ... which is kinda like playing with yourself
I’m a fairly new player and have myself a very strong Branded Despia deck, I have played some other TCG games so I had some experience, my deck focuses on getting at least Mirrorjade out on turn one which can happen from either Despia, Theater of the Branded, Branded in White, and Branded Fusion
You can get a good casual Rokket deck for like $30 using structure decks , atleast should be good enough to go to locals and have a decent chance to do good
Not sure what decklist you're going off of with Runick since the most popular variant is Spright, but I prefer the war-crime that is Mystic Mine Runick. The deck has two win cons: mill the opponent out or make them rage out. Runicks have excellent draw power on top of disruption, and they really compliment the floodgates very well. They also can just protect Mine at a moments notice with Hugin. I'm still playing around with the floodgate ratios but 3 of Mine, Majesty's fiend, and TCBOO have been alright for me. As a starting deck? Not sure I'd recommended it unless you have the money for the Tips and a bulletproof vest (just in case).
I prefer to build my own decks instead of following recipes, it's one of the things I enjoy about yugioh discovering new or interesting card interactions on my own. I recently build a branded blue-eyes deck and I was able to beat sprigth runick 2-0 in a match.
@@nathslifemedia1053 It's open to improvement but here is the one I used against spright runick. Dark Magician can be a brick so if you dont care for red-eyes dark dragoon you can remove them but it's really easy to get dragoon on the field with branded fusion. The basic idea is to use dictator of D or branded fusion to summon albion to send blue-eyes white dragon (or the white stone) to the graveyard, then with bystial magnamhut you add the jets to your hand so their conditional effects are usable. With Hieratic Seal you can get basically whatever you need depending on the situation: do you need a branded fusion? special summon keeper of dragon magic, need a jet? special summon bystial magnamhut to get a jet at the end phase or special a jet directly. To summon draggon with branded fusion send albaz and dark magician as materials for lubelion, then use effect of lubelion to summon dragoon shuffling dark magician and lubelion (or order effect dragon monster to the deck). I try to use magnamhut for interruptions though like a dd crow, when your opponent targets a light/dark monster in the GY to activate an effect, banish it with magnamhut, that's basically how I won against spright. Also if you have the budget use pot of prosperity instead of trade-in but with bystial is pretty easy to get any of the level 8 monsters to your hand to use trade-in. The level 4 xyz are a plan B, if you get interrupted. A few times you will be in situation where you can special summon a level 4, either dictator with its own effect or aluber with branded opening then you can normal summon another level 4 (you have plenty) and if you can't do much else cause you were interrupted, xyz your plan b (thief or bagooska) according to the situation. Monster 2 Blue-Eyes White Dragon 1 Dark Magician 2 Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon 2 Albion the Shrouded Dragon 3 Bystial Magnamhut 3 Aluber the Jester of Despia 3 Fallen of Albaz 3 Keeper of Dragon Magic 2 Dictator of D. 3 Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring 2 The White Stone of Ancients 1 Despian Tragedy Spell 3 Branded Fusion 1 Harpie's Feather Duster 1 Monster Reborn 2 Trade-In 2 Branded Opening 1 Called by the Grave Trap 3 Infinite Impermanence Extra 2 Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon 1 Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon 2 Albion the Branded Dragon 2 Lubellion the Searing Dragon 1 Black Rose Moonlight Dragon 1 Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy 1 Number 97: Draglubion 1 Time Thief Redoer 1 Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir 1 Number 100: Numeron Dragon 1 Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres 1 Linkuriboh
I was watching a gx episode, Zane's first duel vs Jaden. He summons out Cyber Dragon and I was like 'what a cool card design' then I met Cyber End Dragon and that's when I decided to use the Cyber Dragon deck. It's an instant click sometimes
Personally I recommend blue eyes, dark magician, and cubics for beginners. They’re easy to learn and you’ll fall in love with them. I’ve been using dm and blue eyes since 2017 and cubics since they came out😂😂
I just started Yugioh and bought me a traptrix deck and I gotta say ppl at locals aren’t even mad that I don’t let them play the game and everyone says they always wanted to make a traptrix aswell sooooo I guess I got a good first deck hahah
I find that finding a deck to play with me is down to how interested I am in the cards. I got Spright runick Spright tri brigade Beetrooper ballpark Numeron Gren maju
If people are looking for a cheaper deck and a deck that doesnt have cards that will go on the ban list, I recommed Yosenjus. they are fun, easy to learn and don't get distrupted very often when working out their summons.
My problem is that I like decks that are able to function in modern meta (Trains, Super Quantum, Necrovalley) but are both too weak to actually pull a win in high meta play, but enough powerful to be hated by my locals who still play by pulling cards. 😅
I just wanna play something with cool monsters, fun to play, and can fight meta. Been playing HERO and Twin in MD so far. If HERO was just a bit more consistent it’d be perfect
I choose sky strikers as my first TCG deck, dont know if it was a smart choice or not, but like the archtype and got most of the cards by nice price , tho still thinking about including mystic mine or not ... btw quiet surprised seeing exosister as "meta", it was my second option but raye won over mikaiis in the end (for some reason didnt found many exosister cards to buy and the ones i found were bit overpriced...)
Thanks for this guide, subscribed alone just off this video, I’m returning to Yugioh since I haven’t played it since the very beginning when the game first came out, and the fact that I’m a veteran MTG player of 30 years and didn’t like the direction that wizards of the coast is taking magic the gathering, since the release of the 30th anniversary I figured it was time to branch back out into other CCG’s and TCG’s. Id love it if possible you could do videos on all these decks more in depth perhaps a deck tech as we magic players call them and maybe break down how each card interacts with one another and talk about how synergistic the cards can be in other decks as well. I’m curious as to what is considered standard in Yugioh, for example in MTG we can play the 6 most recent sets to draw our card pool upon for deck building purposes, does Yugioh have the same thing am I only allowed to play with certain sets that have been released recently or can I just buy cards from all of Yugiohs history and play them in a deck?
Yugioh has no standard everything is legal outside of a banlist. I've covered or linked deck profiles in my big yugioh tierlist series. Maybe try that if you want to go more in depth.
@@MonkeyFightTCG thank you for your reply this actually awesome to know because now that means I’ve got a huge card pool to draw from for deck building. A thing I’ve noticed about the ban list with Yugioh is that it’s huge, there are a lot of cards on it I’m curious to know why, Magic has maybe about no more than 150 cards to date so far, there are cards being added to it but very rarely. I will definitely be watching your tier list series you’ve recommended 👍 cheers 🍻
90% of people just care about wins so net deck the latest meta. I on the other hand am a boomer so Red eyes has always been my favourite card so I play that and have fun.
The last time i play yugioh was in gx era and my deck was horus lockdown a sort of control deck the stop playing now i start playing again with dragon link deck then move into drytron and now Branded predaplant is way to go
For players that haven't played Yugioh since around 5DS or GX era but wanna pick up the game again, I recommend using an ice barrier deck. Generally, they usually only stick to synchro, and still can hold up against most modern decks without actually having to know the current meta. I used the deck when Master Duel came out, and despite me literally not knowing what Pendulum, XYZ, or Links even were, I still won enough games to get to Platinum rank!
I'll stick with subterror for now. I've had it for years and it's fun using flippy boiz. I have other decks like striker, despia, lightsworn, chaos 2003 format, etc.. but flippy boiz is easiest to pilot at this point.
I thought of the same thing, though a more skilled player could manage to play twins slightly better, still, the skill ceiling is not that high and the deck’s plays are comically repetitive (coming from a twin player who’s about to sell the deck)
Hey monkey fight I also love rikka sunavalon but I gotta ask why you choose to run 2 konkon? Rivalry I understand because it hoses some matchups, but why wouldn’t you run 3 konkon?
Luckily some of the staples and other powerful cards have gotten reprints. So Swordsoul/Tenyi is cheaper now. I go by “ooo pretty colors”. but I find that the more I like the art of an archetype, the worse it actually is overall
Serious question that I cannot get an easy answer to. I'm returning to yugioh after several decades and trying to pick it up. But the issue is I want a viable aggro deck. Doesn't need to be top tier but I want to be able to compete. I see that decks are normally just separated by their archetypes. But that doesn't tell a newcomer anything about the deck itself or how it plays. I'd like to look at a list or tier of decks within a category or at least clearly see a line. I haven't really been able to get into yugioh since these lines tend to be so blurry. Is there ANY resource for this?
Not really unfortunately. My list here was my best attempt at that. Perhaps you could try going through the solo gate options on yugioh master duel. They have plenty of demos for a wide variety of decks.
Keep in mind when you play any TCG at a competitively regulated level, that sometimes playing these easier decks is actually a huge advantage over the course of a long day. My first deck when I came back was shaddoll. It was such a fun deck. I play branded despia now with a few other decks I've tried. This video really would have help when I first got back into the game
If my pfp didn't make it obvious enough, I LOVE traptrix and I've been brewing with it for years trying to figure it out
Finding a deck you resonate with and reiterating till the end of time is how my journey's going
Congrats on your upcoming support
@@haircutregrets294 thank you!
Nothing too exciting got revealed yet
Ever since I saw how spell counters worked way back in like magicians force or w.e they've been my passion
Heros be sorta pricey but with reprints they be sorta cheaper coming up
I’m considering getting the Six Samurai, or Gladiator Beast deck as I play them in duel links and throughly enjoy playing them
Theyre cool decks but do know they're not as good in paper yugioh. Maybe try them out in master duel first.
That's a fair call. The deck does have a high skill ceiling. However the deck is easier to pick up and start playing
Nah it's a braindead deck
@@malfeasancewithornament7573 how so? Shizuku pass braindead?
@@malfeasancewithornament7573 show me where the anime girl touched u
@@malfeasancewithornament7573 i hate sky striker but calling it braindead does us all a disservice lol
Marincess is also a good, cheap combo deck that can compete with today's meta. Almost all of the cards were reprinted in 1 set, and they are fairly easy to pilot
Great guide. Straightforward and informative. Keep it up. 👍👍
GODLY video thanks for making this it'll help new players a ton
Big props man - excellent presentation.
Very informative channel. I would choose a spright deck. I think they are cool. I am returning player which I haven't played in like 15 years since the old days.
Hey MonkeyFight TCG I would like to duel you in master duel. Want to duel me sometime ? If so what is your tag name in master duel ?
I play D/D/D bcs in love being able to summon all archetype specific extra deck monster types in one turn
Been searching for videos like this, great job!
This is a really really good video for new players great job
Really good video I will gladly recommend it to people who want to get into yugioh
More of this series per format would be amazingg ❤
the first deck I ever learnt was spyral and I think it helped me understand the game so much more since it's such a non-linear combo deck
From what I know the best decks to use for beginners are
1. Decks that have no extra deck like monarchs
2. Decks that have a gimmick or easy strategy in every games like easy summons for boss monsters like dinosaur or sky striker.
3. Mystic mine.
My first deck was zombie world (the master duel structure deck I’m very new) and I really enjoyed it so I started building an upgraded one
Took a while due to my mental inability to break down cards and when that event started snagged a swordsoul deck that gage me more success and have been building the tenyi variant
Now I alternate between the upgrades zombies and the swordsoul deck so those could be good places to start
After 10 years away, I restarted yugioh through masterduel and am starting to considering building a TCG deck.
The order of decks I learned in masterduel were:
Dinosaurs
Shaddolls
Swordsoul
Despia
Evil twins
Eldlich
Floo
Dragonlink.
Irl I was gonna try dragonlink, floo or eldlich, however until I learn more about the byssted dragonlink possibilities I won’t start to build a deck
I'd love to see one of these updated for 2024!
My two favorite decks are Aromage and Danger! Dark Worlds. Aromage is for fun and Danger! Dark World is my competitive deck
Good work on this video 👍
Actually great video
Cheers
I agree with most of what you're saying and just want to point out that from my perspective tearlaments is just "too good" as it does it all, during any time ... which is kinda like playing with yourself
I started with a rather Unorthodox Deck , it was a complete balance of mons, traps, spells and , XYZ cards
You're a monster.
I would say that tribrigade is a really good deck which fits a really good budget
Great summary; Swordsoul cheap now due to reprints in Mavens but flawless suggestions 🎉
I prefer to build my own decks instead of following recipes, it's one of the things I enjoy about yugioh discovering new or interesting card interactions on my own. I recently build a branded blue-eyes deck and I was able to beat sprigth runick 2-0 in a match.
you got a decklist?
@@nathslifemedia1053
It's open to improvement but here is the one I used against spright runick.

I was watching a gx episode, Zane's first duel vs Jaden. He summons out Cyber Dragon and I was like 'what a cool card design' then I met Cyber End Dragon and that's when I decided to use the Cyber Dragon deck. It's an instant click sometimes
The reason I chose my xyz deck was I was getting wrecked by insane xyz combos.
My deck is basically me using numbered dragons.
I’m new and I’m playing branded I just love the deck
ice barriers just felt right to me and the deck is fun for me
Personally I recommend blue eyes, dark magician, and cubics for beginners. They’re easy to learn and you’ll fall in love with them. I’ve been using dm and blue eyes since 2017 and cubics since they came out😂😂
Yo did you post this on reddit a while ago? I remember posting some comments on it but glad to see the video dude
Yeah
I just started Yugioh and bought me a traptrix deck and I gotta say ppl at locals aren’t even mad that I don’t let them play the game and everyone says they always wanted to make a traptrix aswell sooooo I guess I got a good first deck hahah
I find that finding a deck to play with me is down to how interested I am in the cards.
I got
Spright runick
Spright tri brigade
Beetrooper ballpark
Numeron
Gren maju
I always recommend Braindead Despia. It’s even got starter decks and it’s splashable.
Your first deck just choose the one with the best theme/artwork
From there you’ll master that deck and learn other decks a long the way.
What card is the one in second row third to last
Geomathmech Final Sigma
If people are looking for a cheaper deck and a deck that doesnt have cards that will go on the ban list, I recommed Yosenjus. they are fun, easy to learn and don't get distrupted very often when working out their summons.
Well they're also a bad deck even if they are super fun.
My problem is that I like decks that are able to function in modern meta (Trains, Super Quantum, Necrovalley) but are both too weak to actually pull a win in high meta play, but enough powerful to be hated by my locals who still play by pulling cards. 😅
Love how in the examples, every deck is Easy to Hard except Mine which is just Braindead
I just wanna play something with cool monsters, fun to play, and can fight meta. Been playing HERO and Twin in MD so far. If HERO was just a bit more consistent it’d be perfect
you just got a new sub.
i use traptrix cards all because i thought "hey you remember that one card" now i troll people constantly with floodgate trap hole
I think pure tears is pretty playable without fieldspells if you just wanna play for a local level which makes it quite budget friendly
I ended up building a Toon deck. Required little thought from me and I get an OK amount of wins on Master Duel
Yeah exosisters are expensive beacuse they're so good.
@@MonkeyFightTCG Exosister were my First deck in Master Duel, saddly they dont have all cards there yet
i personally just go oh that looks so cool let’s make a deck out of it
Thanks for this guide, subscribed alone just off this video, I’m returning to Yugioh since I haven’t played it since the very beginning when the game first came out, and the fact that I’m a veteran MTG player of 30 years and didn’t like the direction that wizards of the coast is taking magic the gathering, since the release of the 30th anniversary I figured it was time to branch back out into other CCG’s and TCG’s.
Guru Control and Altergiest and Eldlitch are pretty simple to use and troll and annoy your opponents with.
Budget friendly too.
Good suggestions
Guru control,what a classic.
90% of people just care about wins so net deck the latest meta. I on the other hand am a boomer so Red eyes has always been my favourite card so I play that and have fun.
5:00
Id just like to say flunder should be signifcantly lower due to yhe fact the maindeck core is 50 and you can run extravagence over prosperity
The only 4 decks I played irl were blue eyes , Spyrals , salad , and for the past 2 years I been playing Sky Striker lol
The person I needed
Would purrely technically count under the "Toolbox & Hand Traps" category?
Yeah it easily could and I think does in my newer version of this video
@MonkeyFightTCG may I ask what that video is specifically called?

hello! Would you recommend building your deck in master duel ? Some cards are still missing I know that buit i dont mind.
Sure. Most of these decks are very good in master duel even without all the new carfs!
@@MonkeyFightTCG Ty🤗
I'll stick with subterror for now. I've had it for years and it's fun using flippy boiz.
I have other decks like striker, despia, lightsworn, chaos 2003 format, etc.. but flippy boiz is easiest to pilot at this point.
Bruh I just play cyber dragon because they look cool ._.
Live-twin "hard", a deck known for being super easy/beginner-friendly
I thought of the same thing, though a more skilled player could manage to play twins slightly better, still, the skill ceiling is not that high and the deck’s plays are comically repetitive (coming from a twin player who’s about to sell the deck)
Probably depends on which version you are running since if you splash Spright stuff in it raises the ceiling considerably
me: *has a concerning obsession to Heraldic Beasts*
MonkeyFightTCG: my current personal favorite deck is [REDACTED]
Despia dogmatika eldlich is probably more consistent than sprights id argue, even better as well as on top of handtraps and consistency space
Hey monkey fight I also love rikka sunavalon but I gotta ask why you choose to run 2 konkon? Rivalry I understand because it hoses some matchups, but why wouldn’t you run 3 konkon?
For beginners, i would still reccomend invoked/shaddoll/dogmatika
Luckily some of the staples and other powerful cards have gotten reprints. So Swordsoul/Tenyi is cheaper now. I go by “ooo pretty colors”. but I find that the more I like the art of an archetype, the worse it actually is overall
3 cards. Zombie world, rivalry of warlords, branded fusion. Gg.
What spots do the Deck's for Red Dragon Arcfiend, and also Stardust Dragon fall into on this list for on here?
