I'm 65years young black female. Rest my mother's soul. I had to go out and get this album for her. We could her it playing on Friday nights. Yes yes yes!
I was a DJ in 72 in the little town of Barre -Montpelier Vermont. Steely Dan’s first album(specifically “do it again “) was being played constantly on radio Baltimore. When I went down there to visit my cousin (RIP Janus High),bought a copy and introduced it to the folks up north.
@@megastick9324 I saw them a year ago in Portland or. They sounded the same to me..absolutely fantastic,im 75, first time seeing them live. I'm so fortunate
@@markeelyons8060 I saw them long ago in Orlando and they were great. Glad you got to see them live also. This, however, whether just the video or the whole show, was overdubbed. The sound is straight from the recording.
I listen to their music all the time. Some of the greatest music ever made. I never get tired of hearing their many great recordings.....never will....
Never never tire of Steely Dan .. I would listen to them over and over again in my 78’ firebird driving to the Jersey shore !! Best life.. those days !! Thankyou Steely Dan
Pure Magic....pure music. The best of the best of that era and beyond. I can listen to this all day....so can my neighbors apparently. One commented...for Christ sake....turn it up ;).
🎙🎸🎹The Cuervo Gold...🥃😃👌, The fine Columbian...😏🔥🌫😎👍, Make tonight a wonderful thing 💏💋. RIP Walter 😢, What a huge legacy you left for so many of us 💜.
One of many ‘best ever’ songs from SD. I remember being about 12 yrs old and cruising on my 10-speed jamming to SD on the transistor radio while cruising by a girl’s house that I was crushing on, hoping that she would be around to talk to. (Remember when kids would just be ‘outside’ back in the day?). Their music captured a moment in time and the detailed lyrics are always telling a story.
I recall those days, too. In a rowhouse neighborhood in North Philly, life happened right in front of you, sitting on your steps, or in the streets, going to the park to play ball, radios and music everywhere. At night, the big kids hanging out on the corner drinking beer and getting into fights, then friends again. What has our world come to; everyone now so insulated and peculiar.
Just can't get enough! I just wish I had the same stereo system in my home! That's something you never see anymore! Only flat screen t.v.'s , the bigger the better. Yes they have an audio bar and yes they have surround sound but the music from my day , late 60,s all 70,s some 80,s , you gotta have that equalizer . Playing albums or tapes, and getting the best sound using that equalizer when your listening to Pink Floyd or Rolling Stones , Janis Joplin , Jefferson Airplane!! Even Dobbie Brothers or Chicago and the Steve Miller Band . Love the soft rock of America and Bread. God, thank you for putting this out and me coming across it . Flood of memorable songs ,bands , concerts ,places, friends, fun, .well.....gotta get back to the music here.
Wow!early1980s,bought my first car, cruise the town, cassette play blasting STEELY DAN (hahaha!),care free in a trouble free world then... oh how the world change 🙏
They seem to bridge the gap between jazz and rock very gracefully . I think that’s what catches my ear . Great sound . Chicago is a great sound too . There are very few that pull it off well .
Another GREAT JOB by Tom "Top Cat". I have always had a soft spot for this Steely Dan song because unfortunately it dates me. While not in Gamma Chi my first year in college was 67 and I can relate to everything in the song. Even the Sol Survivors. Thanks Top Cat.
Anybody ever listen to Dukes of September with Ronald Fagan,Michael McDonald, the guy who sings LOWDOWN...name escaped me. But dynamic trio especially SINGING WHO'S THAT LADY.
Took a coupe of views to see all the costume changes but totally seamless, amazing. Well done Mr Eliason
