Plenty of domestic violence victims excuse and even defend their abuser, even when they're the one who called for help while scared. It's a vicious circle. Notice her very first reaction in the first clip of her? She basically said he's acting the way he acts when he's drunk. Then later she tells the cop he's only like this when he drinks but sober he's the sweetest guy. If this was the first time, she wouldn't have reacted like this. And she basically all but admitted this is normal behavior for him when he's drunk. Domestic violence is a very vicious circle like that.
Good job to the officer that didn't have a COMPLETE power trip. Also, it should be common knowledge that UNLESS you want someone to be harmed or arrested, DON'T call the police 🤦♂️
I believe they have done studies and such to show how difficult it is for a person in an abusive relationship to leave the relationship... there is definitely a connection, though the uncertainty is if they simply studied many cases or did a study... She needs help, and time to break from that relationship, and its otherwise natural for her to try and defend him and justify why he did what he did, such as saying how he was getting a divorce, etc. etc. I feel kinda depressed tbh when I hear that excuse in these situations, as its one of the most common (trying to justify why the victim is at fault and not the one attacking/harming them).
@@karenneill9109 Expecting the police to show up, wag a finger at the guy, and then leave is naive. Especially when she knew he was on probation and drunk as a skunk. Simple commonsense would have told her that the call would end in him being being driven off to jail

It's very common for victims of abuse to say things like this because even if they DO want the abuser to stop abusing them or to go to jail they don't want to be the one who is blamed for it later. Abusers regularly provoke physical confrontations with police just to make sure they get arrested and can blame the victims for getting them involved. That's no justification for you to blame the victim nor is the suggestion that she is abusing the system after we all just watched this guy physically assault her. Nurses & Cops have a very close working relationship with each other. Think about how every time an arrestee is acting crazy what happens?
@Juann-d5j that's NOT an arrestable offense. That's literally infringing on his rights for freedom of speech. The cop got in his feelings about words.
If she didn’t want him arrested why did she call the police on him?
Because she wanted him to stop.
@@karenneill9109 Expecting the police to show up, wag a finger at the guy, and then leave is naive. Especially when she knew he was on probation and drunk as a skunk. Simple commonsense would have told her that the call would end in him being being driven off to jail

It's part of life... You encounter narcissism in everyone after being with them for a long time. Like, the LOVE is there, but people don't know when to take breaks from each other. The other might think you're sick of them, but it's to give each other that essential space that you don't think you need when you're with someone either for a honeymoon stage, or a long time. If you don’t want someone to go to jail, DONT CALL THE FUCKIN COPS.
If you weren’t in danger then you’re abusing the system.
It's very common for victims of abuse to say things like this because even if they DO want the abuser to stop abusing them or to go to jail they don't want to be the one who is blamed for it later. Abusers regularly provoke physical confrontations with police just to make sure they get arrested and can blame the victims for getting them involved.
