My sister was a flagger on a highway crew and she had so many stories of how people just blatantly ignoring her. She was almost hit a few times. The entitlement of some people is outrageous.
I encountered a work crew on a blind hairpin curve, that had only set up "construction ahead" signs a hundred feet away. This was useless, and with a speed limit of 45, did not provide enough mental warning for drivers. Once the work started, to make it worse, there began to be a line of vehicles fully stopped, the last one being literally 1/4 second of visibility, before impacting it. It was SO dangerous. I almost hit the lady last in line. Because of this, I then put on my warning flashers, and backed up to where I could be seen with flashers on, blocking the lane.. my hope was that I could prevent a literal high speed crash and likely fatal event. It was a hillside with a cliff on the other side of the road. I was able to prevent SEVERAL cars driving 55mph from hitting that line of cars. I prevented tragedy. Once they let the line go through, and I was able to get to the area where they were working, I shared the experience and facts with the guy holding the flag. I told him that they needed to place signs, or flaggers further back if they stop traffic again, because they had created a high-speed accident trap. You know what the guy did? He had this smug smile on his face while I was talking.. .waited till I was done, and said "Have a nice day, sir". I asked if his supervisor was near, he said no. And as I drove away, he effing flipped me off. I called the company, took a few days to get ahold of someone with authority. I emailed him a google sat view of how they had their 'work' area set up, signage, etc. The guy apologized and a couple weeks later emailed that they had sat that crew down and had a meeting. 2 of the people at the work area, including smart-ass finger man, were terminated. I had gotten video of the interaction, and pics of the signage, coupled with the layout of the bend from Google. The supervisor thanked me for preventing tragedy. So, when I see these guys and gals directing traffic NOW, I know that some of them are VERIFIABLE A$$HATS. That's reality. I think the guy in this story was 1/2 to blame. I GUARANTEE you, he gets a kick out of being dramatic with *some of the people who roll into his domain, and I think he did that here. So that entitlement you mention is not from one side.

As a TC supervisor I can give an unbiased view. I witnessed many times where motorists will be impatient with the flaggers, and even run the stop paddles or show aggressive behavior by revving their engine or yelling to the flagger that they "just need to go right there". If it's a flagging op and they're stopping your vehicle, it's because it's a one-lane only situation and chances are there are vehicles already coming towards you. We try to cycle traffic to within a reasonable time so that you're not held up, and yet again people are impatient and will drive past our flaggers only to be met with oncoming traffic. Of course the screws up everybody else's time. Conversely, I've also witnessed flaggers become aggressive towards drivers and standing out in front of moving vehicles. And that's never a good idea. Drive safe everyone and please be respectful of the construction zone.
Yeah, and I've seen them make shit up and lie about being hit as well. I pulled a contract for a sidewalk repair for the city a few years back, and I seen a TC walk into traffic randomly and claim that he was hit, and had I not been a witness against it, they would have nailed the driver with a felony. His coworkers even lied on his behalf, and pulled the same shit these dudes did. Also, Florida is the #1 fraud State in the country btw.

I worked as an engineer for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for over 30 years and have seen many irate motorists being slowed in our workzones. As a motorist myself, I've also been "inconvenienced" by these delays. Generally, as long as there's proper advance warnings of the delay, (construction signs and changeable message signs, most motorist are OK with the necessary road work. The flaggers are out there to make sure the motorists, the construction workers, and the inspectors are safe. In the past few decades or so, there were so many incidents, that we moved a lot of our work to night work to lessen the impact during the high traffic volumes during the day. Also, on large projects, we have help from the CHP (California Highway Patrol) to slow down traffic in our workzones. Unfortunately, there are still many construction workers and Caltrans employees who are killed or injured by motorists. Please, slow for the cone zone!

Hoping your flaggers are more eloquent with their speech when explaining a "life threatening" situation as this kid was.

That lady is so right. All Porsche drivers should get immunity as soon as they sign papers at the dealership 😅
😂😂😂😂😂
never answer questions, never say a word, let the cop investigate, keep your mouth shut
I work as a flagger, this is (no joke) a daily occurrence. My boss has been hit twice and I’ve had a couple close calls. I will regularly close off a road with cones and signs, stand there with a stop sign and still be asked “Is the road closed?”
Countless elderly folk just get confused and do what they think is right.
2:50 His friend ain’t shit 😂 pulled the camera out as soon as he heard the Miranda rights 😂
That is a good friend if you ask me. Badge cams are in possession of the police. So they can be manipulated.
I would love to have my own footage any time I interact with the police. Just so you know everything is on record and can't be tampered with.
@@cadetrenew The police aren't allowed to present edited body cam footage in court for a reason. It has to be shown in full.
@@SanctusPaulus1962 Because they all ways follow their own rules after all, down side to photage, any thing can be manipulated, the more independent copies the more secure the truth is.
@@Refertech101 I don't think you quite understand the gravity of the absolute shitstorm that would ensue if a police department knowingly manipulated body cam footage and then presented that to a court of law in an attempt to conceal a crime committed by an officer. It would be a hell of a lot easier to simply fire the police officer involved and be done with it instead of attempting to manipulate the footage and simply hope to God that experts whose job it is to analyse these things somehow don't notice any manipulation.
I’m not physically hurt 😢 homie you got hit by a millionaire 😅

i mean he old af yo
Yes he was. And believe it or not, back then he was only 70 years old!
Trumps grand pappy was living in Germany at the time.
I believe the old man.
Of Course it's CONFUSING for you Mr Porsche driver.
Its a base Cayenne, Biden got y'all so broke you think he is rich.
Immediately upon his release, he went home and shook his fist at kids playing on his lawn.
No doubt!
Probably your kids... deadbeat.

He'll be in prison until he's dead

At no point does the old man make any sense. It just sounds like a wild tale to deny his culpability. He plays the victim with everything he does.
You must know him very well ''He plays the victim with everything he does'' Mention 3 things please you know him so so well
@@sengon344 Did I hurt your feelings calling him a victim?
Alot of wealthy people feel they are entitled to behave in any way they want, with no consequences.
Really? Some of the worst entitlement is found in folks who are living in abject poverty...the taxpayer OWES THEM a paycheck for warming the couch!
Just mad because he drives a Porsche

It's true. I use to drive a Bently I'd get people walk up and ask for money. I had people act like I hit them even tho I didn't and the stors camera showed I was 2 feet from them. People see money and thry do all sorts of crazy things.

I was a flagger years ago, and one guy got really mad and reached into the glove compartment. I thought he was going for a gun and I was about to get shot. Met all sorts of interesting people on that job!
What did he pull out of his glove compartment......and how weird if you think about it, does people have that many gloves that they need a compartment in their car for them?
There must have been a reason at some point why they call it that, but I don't know, that was before my time. Oh the guy pulled out s paper to write down my license plste so he could file a complsint against me and have me put in jail for not letting him drive amongst all the haul trucks, big loaders, and D-9 bulldozers because he'd be "real careful", and " had to get going". Funny thing was, the car right there wasn't mine, and it would have been fuutile.
