This seems to be a great car and I'm very happy for JLR because they needed a it. But a lot of Land Rover fans consider it a bastardization of the Defender brand because what made the old Defender so successful was its simplicity, customizability and sustainability. The new Defender embodies none of these. And that's a pity because there's nothing quite like it on the market now. Land Rover did make many prototypes of an actual new Defender but none of them made it to production because the company was always in turmoil.
