    This would be SOO cool if they did this for Harry Potter, too!! Imagine spending like 3 days or a week at Hogwarts & literally BEING a student there & doing like a mini-Hogwarts/Harry Potter story or solving a mystery while there!! Oh my gosh!! I WOULD die if there was something like this for Harry Potter!! I would be IN the story/little mystery!! Like literally TAKING the "TRAIN" to "Hogwarts" & staying there in the dormitories for like a week!!! Oh, and playing or watching a quidditch game, also!! 😃💞❤️😍 (My heart also goes out to the Ukraine people, too. 💗💞)

    I'm stoked Ben and J got to be some of the first ones to try this out! Ultimately though, this experience (good or bad as it may be) has been ruined for me personally by the price tag. Maybe if Disney hadn't initially pitched it as as a $3k-ish experience it would be different...but they did, and then basically doubled the price, just like they seem to be doing for everything lately. Add on that a lot of this experience was what Galaxy's Edge was initially supposed to be like, which would have been accessible to anyone with a regular park ticket and which instead got dramatically shrunk down and reduced to cut costs, the Galactic Starcruiser really feels like a money grab. Which is a shame, because I do appreciate what they're doing and think it's really innovative, but this feels like it can only go two ways. It either stays as-is and is a super premium experience for the elite/once-in-a-lifetime crowd; or, demand decreases and Disney drops the price, but also backtracks on the innovation aspect and makes it just a 'Star Wars' themed hotel - which is also a bummer. Just feels lose-lose all around.

      I think what most people are not realizing is it actually isn’t an unreasonable price if you factor in all the actors (the “crew” aboard the “ship”) are real people who, you know, have to eat? And like that it’s part of the price to have 20+ actors role playing for you, you know? You can’t compare it to a video game where the people in a video game experience aren’t real people. The actors who are making this experience happen for you deserve to be paid accordingly!

      @@robynhayward Definitely my thoughts. At the same time though, they seem to talk highly about a lot of things that are just objectively wrong, bad, and all that. For example, Encanto is not a good movie. It has an abhorrent amount of flaws and lack of excitement, but they want to call it the best movie? It objectively isn't.
      I think they're using that same optimism of theirs, because they don't seem all that capable of talking negatively about anything. They only really offer high praise, or neutral opinions.

    • @robynhayward
      @robynhayward 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@spin.chicken k for one, you can't say a movie like Encanto is objectively bad, that's ridiculous. You might think there are a million things wrong with it but that's your opinion. The music alone has been insanely successful so there's obviously a lot they did right, so if you view the movie as a whole as bad cuz of those bad things that's fine, but other people might think the good outweighs the bad. Art is subjective.
      Obviously the boys are known for their positivity but they're perfectly able of criticizing things they don't like, I think you need to appreciate a bit more the fact that they signed a contract expecting to be able to rant and rave about how awesome it was and then it wasn't so they were stuck.

    After watching this, I feel like Disney really messed up by calling this a "resort". I feel like most people are looking at the price tag and judging because they don't realize that it's not a hotel. It is an experience. People think it's crazy that I've spent close to $1000 on merch and experiences from Galaxy's Edge. But that's the whole point. The first time we went, I watched my boyfriend build his lightsaber but I did not build one. When we went back, even though I had seen the show, I wanted to experience it for myself. Yes, it's a lot of money and definitely not something everyone could end up doing. But calling it a resort is definitely not the right classification. I was one of those people who was judging the price tag because I just didn't understand what it truly was. Now that I know, I completely get it and I'm not as judgmental over the price tag.

    One of the biggest selling points I’m hearing so far is how immersive it is which got me thinking would that play the same way if you’re disabled? In my personal experience when I’ve gone on rides that have elaborate and immersive parts as a disabled person you often will get taken through back doors and hallways to get to an elevator which completely takes you out of it so I’m hoping they’ve taken that into account!

      this is what I was wondering about too, I'm autistic & disabled, so would there be accommodations like a sensory-friendly room I can go to decompress or mobility options that don't take away from the experience? hopefully there would be, cause I probably couldn't mask (emotionally) the full two days without a shutdown which would completely take me out of the experience
      I was also wondering about how trans/non-binary people, such as myself, would be treated, like I know they mentioned names are respected (tho I'm unsure if pronunciation could/would be an issue), but would pronouns be respected too? again, hopefully they would be, cause I will likely have my pronoun pins & mask (physically) on at all times, as well as introduce myself with my name & pronouns when asked my name

      I don't know about the Galactic Starcruiser itself, but I would bet that they do a good job addressing mobility and immersion. My reason for this is that on when I went on the Rise of the Resistance ride, not only did have accessibility on the normal route for wheelchairs rather than the 'back doors and hallways' approach, but also the cast members had terminology to refer to the wheelchair that didn't take you out of the universe. For example when the First Order 'captures' everyone and is dividing you up into smaller groups for the next stage of the experience, the cast member might say "You three: go to this area. You in the transport vehicle [the wheelchair] and you to the right: go into this area."

    I'm beginning to think Disney itself didn't know what the Galactic Starcruiser was going to be, probally explaining their terrible marketing. I still think the price is too high, but that is more an issue I have with Disney parks as a whole. Everything is expensive, so why wouldn't a LARPing experience with sets, costumes, actors, and behind the scene areas, also be expensive. Its not like a RPG video game where the actors have to paid once and mass production and distribution can recover costs as there are constant costs. However, Disney as a whole seems to be transitioning its target audience (and thus prices) for its parks away from the entire middle class to the middle/upper middle class and up. the Lower Middle class seems to be no longer in their greater calculations. So only those with stable income and with a sable supply of disposable income could even afford to go to Disney in general, it would make no sense if this was different.

  • @fanartexhibit
    @fanartexhibit 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    What I don't understand though is what exactly is the $6000 paying for? Because it sounds like to me you're essentially paying Disney to take part in a glorified dinner theatre or murder mystery party. You're paying Disney to act in their stage production. If it was like $500 a night that something most people could probably stomach, but what they are asking is for people to cough up 10 times that amount to play pretend. There's going to be a lot of people paying for this not knowing that there's going to be work involved. On top of that, I just don't see there being a huge audience for this. There are many SW fans out there who will happily pay a premium for merchandise but this is out of reach for many, if not most of them. So, who exactly is this for?

    • @loverrlee
      @loverrlee 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Also it sounds like you are paying for the inventive foods you can’t experience anywhere and the chefs who prepare that also deserve to be paid well.

Which does seem in line for an all inclusive, full-on immersive trip. From this review, there are a lot of quality actors. I just wonder if I would be willing to spend that much for the experience. I actually do like the direction Disney is allowing Dave Filoni, et al, to take the Star Wars franchise. That's an exorbitant amount of cash and since you didn't spend your own money on this trip, you didn't FULLY put what would be your own $10K investment in 'is it worth it' context. Looks like Disney created an elitist experience so few people can partake. Understand I love Star Wars and the whole immersive concept is a dream! Perhaps Disney in the long run has knocked another one out of the park! It is still to expensive. Hands down for most people!

    Looks like so much fun!! How long until Universal does this with Harry Potter? Because I would totally pay $5k for that!

    Wait, this isn't an episode of the nerd crew? Very cool.

    Based on this description I think we should never send Matt Patt because it would break him

    If you watch Molly’s video from All Ears, she actually did find a story line that she took part in.
