The giggles between you and Sherry are priceless. I am absolutely loving these videos with both of you! (I secretly hope she has a friend with a stuffed house so you two can help the friend 😏)
Sherry is such a likeable person. Perhaps she could be a personal shopper for hire as some people cannot go out and do it for themselves. This way she still gets to shop and not clutter her own home. I enjoy your videos, Carla. Sherry, you did an excellent job decluttering your home.
Love that your sister put things in her cart then deleted everything at the end! WOW!! She did great!! I gave myself a yarn challenge years ago. For one year my rule was to use only the yarn I had in my stash. So I made a list of all the yarns I wanted to buy during that year and when the challenge was over I went through the list and crossed off I'd say 90% of the list!
I had all those small balls of sock warn that tI was trying desperately to coordinate with new yarn, then I though, Enough! I started to knit socks from all different colors and patterns sock yarn, that way no waste and they are still as warm as the others! And as a bonus' I declutter my stash.
No-buy is SERIOUS business, ladies. I didn't buy anything for three months except a pair of pantyhose, and my sister said that I really didn't need them!!😂
I completely agree! Due to my health and not having a car, I'm pretty much a recluse in my home. Watching Carla and Sherry together is like having a couple of friends over for coffee or hot chocolate. 😘😊 ☕🧋🍷
My favorite was when you were saying what you bought, your sister was so sympathetic just nodding like she felt it was a good purchase for you! She is so non-competitive. Just love that!
❤It is such a joy watching you two. I discovered your channel where you helped your friend with a million pairs of shoes.😂 Now I've been watching you at your sister's house. I'm a 71 yr. old single woman and I've been struggling with clutter for about two years. I donate to a small thrift store.by my house. I am motivated by watching your channel. Thank you Sherry for being so BRAVE and HONEST about your clutter. See you on your next video.
Your sister is so right. Many women have that 'gathering' instinct and feel very satisfied 'gathering a haul' (ie shopping). But when we realize it is a form of entertainment and a habit, then we can look to replace it with other enjoyable tasks that don't have a negative consequence (money spent and clutter).
I think I’m going to do a no buy January and couple that with getting rid of one item a day (or just 31 things by the end of the month). I have really gotten into a maintenance mode with decluttering, but I’m pretty sure I can find 31 things that I don’t need, want or use. Love this series with Sherry. ❤️
Was it a fail? I don't really think so. Sherry did very well with several of her purchases being replacements (so items will be leaving the house). Carla, you maybe could have done a little better (since the challenge was your idea) but you didn't do terribly. What I noticed was that both of you, while not resisting the urge to buy, at least were aware of what you were doing. I believe that the awareness and thinking through purchases is a big step toward eventually curbing your shopping. So don't consider it failing, but a positive experiment. You'll get there!
Love you girls. Missed seeing Samson’s sweet face today. November and December would be incredibly difficult I would think. January would be the easiest in my opinion. You girls have motivated me to put in the work and de clutter our home of 28 years. Four kids were raised here, only one left in the nest. We have decades of clutter! I’m proud to say I just donated my 12th trash bag of clothes today! I feel so much lighter and inspired to keep going. Every day I wake up and think, what’s it going to be today?! Please keep the motivation coming!
I wish this series would go on and on. I only have two episodes left! Maybe you can do a revisit the same rooms for a second go ‘round in the future. I wonder if the eBay top that Sherry bought was like the turquoise top with the bling around the neckline that had a big stain on it. She really loved that top.
Your sister supporting all of your purchases during black Friday was so hilarious, “it was meant to be” 🤣 you two are so funny. I’m definitely gonna miss your sister on your channel.
I did a low buy for a whole year, letting myself purchase 1 make up/skin care item per month and 1 item of clothing a month, I thought it was going to be easy as I don't consider myself a shopper, but once you start writing down 'everything' you buy, you realise how much you do buy, its shocking
I love Sherry's shirt, it looks so cute on her :) Thank you both for the honesty about the no-buy but I think you should class it as a win. You really thought about things before you purchased and I think brought way less than you would have normally. Its really hard to break the habit of shopping because everyone makes it so easy and they trigger you with all these 'sale now on' and 'huge discount' terms to make it feel like I have to get it now before its gone. Please do some more no spend challenges, I am sure next time you will both be able to purchase way less or even nothing for the month
Let Sherry know that I think her (new?) wig is so cute. I am preparing to declutter al my wigs and hair .And it's so cool that her room looks neat and the art matches her top. I can see that's one of her colors. The blue is reflected in her mirror too. Btw, has she been able to sell anything yet? The example of the chopper? That guy was one of the EARLY influencers! 😂like Emeril Lagasse!
November is the WORST to 'no-buy'! I fell to some black Friday sales (and I'm not normally a 'black Friday' person!) I've already made a few purchases in December lol! So here's to a 'low buy/no buy' 2024!
January I think is the best month as a lot of people struggle with the wait from being paid from Christmas and having to wait 5-6 weeks to be paid at the end of January. I'm doing a no-buy January and it's going to help massively. I'm going to use the products and food I have and use up everything I can. It definitely helps with using up things you need too plus saving money😊
I'm about the same age as you and the sales always get me, because I always think of sales being how they were when we were growing up - big sales twice a year in summer and winter/christmas. Then I realise you never really have to wait more than a month or two for a sale nowadays. Sales are the only time I 'fail'.
Ive been on a lowkey binge of your videos. Youre just so real, i feel like weve been friends for years. Im especially loving your interactions with your sister ❤
Carla after watching you and your sister talk. I went to my w cart. And edited stuff out…went from $253. To $ 27. So what ever you guys said influenced me that I really didn’t need that extra stuff…plus it didn’t go on Visa bill…even though I pay it in full…just would like to keep it lower…..Thanks😊🙏😊. KCMary.
Your comparison to dieting is spot on. It's dopamine. When you shop, dopamine is pumped in your brain. Same too when indulging in food. When I used to diet, I would splurge money on shopping. I'm eating whatever I want but I don't shop nearly as much as when I was thinner.
Yes I agree it is very cold at night. I actually wake up at night if I'm too cold so I have to turn my heater up. I would just turn on the blanket on low or medium and leave it for Samson all night long. I can only imagine how horrible arthritis feels when it's cold. He's such a sweet boy.❤
A plan I have for after the holidays (hehe 🧑🎄) is doing like a “one-day-buy” where I only have one day a month to splurge on non-necessities. A tip would be throughout the month you can make a list of any items that inspired you to buy them. You can write them down or save them to your cart. After the month is over, if any of the items are still needed/wanted, buy them! That way you have time to contemplate the price and maybe they might go on sale in the mean time! Maybe if you try to do this in November, wait for everything to go on sale on Black Friday ❤
I've told my kids that after Christmas I'll only purchase necessities like food and school shoes and I'll be doing that till March as I have 2 birthdays. I'm going to try and not purchase any takeaways too. Not sure how long it'll last. I'm also decluttering and finding things I've forgotten about.
I find it helps me to delay or even stop purchases by adding to my Amazon save for later section of my cart. Usually when I review it a week or more later, I’ve realized I didn’t really need it.
I’m trying to implement the no buying concept.. I have a future goal that I want to see come into fruition in 2024 so I need to be diligent with tracking my spending and saving as much as possible.. Love this challenge with you and your sister.. Blessings to you both.
Love it, public accountability/confessions…lol. I think you’ve both done so well. Shopping and purchasing is so addictive, especially the online version. Who doesn’t love a little tootle around the internet seeing what’s on offer. I did the a Black Friday buying, it was local and once it arrived it went straight back to the store for a refund 🤣🤣🤣. This ep is a great leveller for both of you. I’m very admiring of your pared down wardrobes. Bring on the next video ❤❤❤
I like to do “no spend” challenges in the manner that A Hoarder’s Heart does them…where I set a goal for the number of days in a month I won’t spend anything. It has been a good way to dip my toe in and then slowly start to push myself to slow down my buying. If I tried to go “cold turkey” I would definitely blow it, but the slow ramp up has taught me a lot. Just the act of leaving things in my cart to consolidate my “spend days” really helped, usually when I got back to the cart I realized I didn’t need those things.
Why not design your own T-shirt with your logo? "The Carla Project"...take care ladies, your interactions bring me joy, your laughs are infectious....LOL! Take care and Merry Xmas!
I think Sherry gets an A-. She really did great compared to her previous self! But Carla it was so surprising you bought so much. So I would give you a D. 🙂
Shopping can be so addictive. Your sis is so on it about the dept, the entertainment and the desperation in the addiction. Great that you are doing this together. ❤
You two rock together. I so love the honesty and the non-judgemental attitude. Since it's January soon, why not start another try then? I think, I will do that, with the exeption of a victorian cycling skirt I am waiting for and that will probably be availible in January again.
I love this series with your sister I love the November challenge and your transparency. I find it motivating, inspiring, and you two make me laugh so much. I love how your sisters shirt matches the art over her bed 😉 you are both so funny. Thank you
For the last 3 years, I have been decluttering. Now I come up with creative ideas where to donate stuff. As I find more things that need a new home. Today, I took empty grocery bags to a food pantry. I removed the eye lens from 2 pair of old wire rim glasses and donated them to the high school. Theater department. I am also trying 1 in 1 out. Mostly replacing older clothes that no longer fit, too big.😊
Omg this no buy challenge was hysterical! You gals bought a lot but at least you two also owned it so that’s good! Perhaps reframe the no buy challenge and put a limit per month on the spend? $100 cap on non-essentials? Could be $100 on one high end purchase or 50 random Knick knacks? Maybe that challenge could be easier?!!
Hi Carla I just want to thank you for being a breath of fresh air. My 8 yr old baby girl always asks to watch “the lady with the cute dog” and it’s such a pleasure watching your channel with her and not having to worry about topics discussed or foul language. We love your videos
This video in kinda a therapy session between two sisters, I enjoyed the frank talk. I would see a SAFE stepladder as an essential since your sister has lots of stuff that are out of reach. I gave a very good one to my friend because I cared for her safety. The electric blanket for Carla is not an essential but it will add lot of comfort and in a sense it is useful. However a heavy wool blanket is even better, that is used all over the world and it doesn't use electricity. I suggest not looking at screens that advertise, dont go to websites that sell stuff. Find a HOBBY, create something, join a class, visit a friend, walk , exercise, learn to play an instrument, read, garden, volunteer etc... You will find that as you start buying less and less, it will curb your desires. And since you will busy yourselves with other activities you won't have the time to shop.
Your big sis is so cute I just love her. ❤Your relationship seems awesome. It's so great that she's facing her shopping habits, and bringing the unconscious to her consciousness, so she can be aware of it in the moment, it's so great!
November would be a difficult month for no-buy, for sure! You don't need to buy new clothes for us... you're our role model for minimalism & we appreciate you demonstrating your own practical ideas & tips. As for no-buy, I've tried to train myself to leave stuff in my online shopping cart overnight to see if I still feel as strongly about it the next day... and usually I don't. But if I make an impulse purchase that makes me wake up the next morning with a sinking feeling, I sometimes try to cancel the order. Thank you as always for such relatable videos!
Love watching you both makes me laugh. I have two sister and we do the same thing. It’s hard not to buy pretty things but it’s a pain having to get rid of all the so called pretty things lol. Can’t wait to see you ladies again. Have a great day.
I think you both did amazing in your no buy month! Maybe you can try again in January? I think mindset is the key to no buy challenges, the intention may be there but its the small day to day decisions that will make the difference in the long run- kind of like decluttering! :)
Good job sisters. I can see where you are becoming more aware of what control you have over clutter control. A video that inspired me to cut back on clothes a few years ago brought up the terrible consequences of thrown away clothing to our environment. So, even though I am NOT petite by any means, I try to shop at consignment stores for items like jeans. Yes, they are not the “latest” in fashion but I love to tweak my outfits to update them. Please keep up the banter between you. You both inspire us to “think” and to be “kinder”.
During my declutter I have found it is helpful to make a list of replace, want, and need items. This allows me to think about my choices. I also window shop on Amazon. This is such a wonderful idea. My husband and I set a limit on Amazon monthly bill amount ,lol. Keep it up you are amazing
I used to buy things I ended up giving away without using. Then I decided to spend differently. I registered in dance classes with personal trainers to learn the moves faster. And this year I traveled to Europe twice. Visiting Andalusian palaces got me back into writing about Arabic loanwords in Portuguese. And it all started with the wish to spend less on what I don't need.
For 2024 I’m doing a no clothes and shoe shopping challenge. For the whole year. I even told my family like if they got me clothes or shoes for Christmas this year, fine but starting January don’t gift me those things at all!! I’m really excited cuz that’s one thing I blow my money impulsively on the most and I’m decluttering so much I don’t want to have to keep doing it. Wish me luucckkkk 💕💕💕🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Great video. Thinking i might try a no buy in January. No holidays or gifts for birthdays. Seems like a good way for me to start the year. Thanks for the video and a great idea to try.
You guys are great I love how you hold each other accountable and yourself in the end holding accountability. Very good points & conversations. I learned a lot about myself watching this series, it made me realize no offense I'm alot like your sister & want to change my bad habits. Buying, eating, not exceŕsizing and making excuses so many things this taught me so thank you girls, I love this series, and hope you continue having your sister making appearances.
I love this, it’s wonderful that you two could give this a go and then share what you learned and how you feel even if you might have dropped the ball a bit, all without beating yourself us. It’s refreshing, truely! Love your videos! And I’m so impressed with your sister’s efforts over this process, it’s to daunting sharing your home online so well done to her. It’s been wonderful following along 🥰
Another great video. I think your sister should write down her purchases. It can be very easy to forget about them. It’s great that she has family members that are helping her to be accountable. I think a savings and exercise challenge would be great for us all in the future!!
I did a few categories of no buy in October, and I was SO GLAD I did it. I’m always so fall crazy in October but it’s actually not cold yet where I live. Then I can buy things during November with all the deals 😅 hearing your dialogue with your sister is so real and inspiring!!!
November is difficult for No Buy because of Black Friday deals and because I like to get ahead for Christmas to spread the cost of food and gifts. It’s always good to be mindful about spending though and I like to keep a list of items I actually need so that I don’t get sidetracked.
Sounds like it was a really great learning experience. Who knows you may pick having certain weeks you don’t buy a month. I like how you seemed much more intentional in the final purchases. Love how your sister realized that she loves the research and window shopping experience rather than actually buying 😊. I would give you a rather good grade as you learned so much from the experience- so it gave you lots of self-awareness about your shopping habits. Congratulations! For me I have had a lot of no buy experience as I have an illness that prevents me from going into stores and from working - I have been saving so much 😂
You guys did a great job With no buy November. My Dad has a saying to avoid clutter in his house Buy whatever you want but don't for heavens sake bring it home! This worked on us as kids with school fairs and thrift or jumble sales.
@@marloespeters8404 no the statement either ment you just didn't buy it at all or you donated it to somewhere. It was more a re.inder that we didn't need more stuff!!
Can’t blame you for buying Farm Rio. It’s my weakness. Also, my reasoning for my recent purchases is to challenge myself to make no purchases in 2024. So I’m stocked up. I did the same in 2022.
Good for you both for trying. I think the heated blanket for the dog is a necessity and Sherry deserves credit for donating the two jeans and putting things back. Don't give up - try using an easier month than November!
Awe…so much fun you two are so funny. I shopped too…all things for my wardrobe that I have either worn out or damaged or not looking so fresh. I always create a budget for my wardrobe shopping and I do what Sherry does I window online shop and find the best quality for my money. I never use credit cards so it means I have to save for the item. I also make sure whatever I bring into my wardrobe it’s something that works with lots of other items. I need at least 2 sweaters and I have a small budget of $100 so I have already found something online and when I get to the store if I don’t like them I still stick to the budget. And it has to be on sale. This has been a fun series, I’m really enjoying it. ❤❤❤

Love this app! Thank you!!!
Aww look at Sherry giving you the business about buying something you didn’t need, too cute 😂. She is a sweetheart ❤
It's okay if you wear the same things, Carla. That is a good example for us all.
It is - and also I've literally never noticed, and I watch every single video!
Agreed!!
I never noticed either!
I never noticed!

I love watching these videos with u and your sister . Don’t want them to end
Is there some way to give this comment more the one thumbs up??❤
I agree
Seriously these videos are love ❤
I love them too 🙌
Me too, more sister videos please. ❤

My dad used to come home snd declare he‘d „saved“ by getting something more cheaply 😂😂😂

How did you do it!!! Help, said I'd have a no buy month, bought a pair of shoes, 2 books, and a car vacuum!!
I appreciate you and your sister’s honesty and transparency.
For the last 3 years I try to keep the No-buy-or-less-buy-habit going or at least give away more than I buy.
I saved a lot so far.
Loving Sherry's hair. You gals are so fun to watch! A November No Buy was a bold endeavor.
Please could you two do this kind of chatts about all sorts of things on a regular basis? I just love listen to you guys and watching you two! ❤🫶🏻🙋♀️

Just the act of leaving things in my cart to consolidate my “spend days” really helped, usually when I got back to the cart I realized I didn’t need those things.
great idea might just have to start with one day and ramp it up slowly from there❤️
This is such a great idea!
They both got 8 items. I give them a C. Not that I could do better!
Sister videos, yesss!! These are fav! Decluttering, cleaning or just talking like this video doesnt matter i love these videos
I love this series with your sister
I love the November challenge and your transparency.
Honestly, I'd give you both B+! You committed And made some progress in the hardest month of the year for a 'no buy' 👍
Hi Carla I just want to thank you for being a breath of fresh air. My 8 yr old baby girl always asks to watch “the lady with the cute dog” and it’s such a pleasure watching your channel with her and not having to worry about topics discussed or foul language. We love your videos
Love that!❤️❤️❤️
Always love these videos with Sherry. I’m gonna do a no buy January. I will need to recover from Christmas ❤❤
Good video. It's true: 'no you can't' makes you say 'yes, I will'. LOL. Instagram makes you buy. Sherry did very good.
Not the SlapChop 😂😂 you guys are hilarious together!
So true! 😆
Sherry, "You stipulated in the contract..." LOL!!! 😂 She's not takin' ANY prisoners on this one...Love you guys!
I enjoyed this segment and will do this come January after the Holidays
I used to buy things I ended up giving away without using. Then I decided to spend differently. I registered in dance classes with personal trainers to learn the moves faster. And this year I traveled to Europe twice. Visiting Andalusian palaces got me back into writing about Arabic loanwords in Portuguese. And it all started with the wish to spend less on what I don't need.
This sounds amazing! Great trips, and a fascinating hobby. Now I'm off to look up Arabic loanwords!
We definitely need more videos with the Sherry! Love the two of you together.
❤ Thank you guys for being so honest and transparent ❤ It makes the rest of us feel less alone 🤗🤗🎉👍
dealing with addiction. is hard the excuses we make to disguise and hide our addictive behaviors get so creative and complex.
Another great video. I think your sister should write down her purchases. It can be very easy to forget about them. It’s great that she has family members that are helping her to be accountable. I think a savings and exercise challenge would be great for us all in the future!!
You guys are simply great together! ❤❤
I did a few categories of no buy in October, and I was SO GLAD I did it. I’m always so fall crazy in October but it’s actually not cold yet where I live. Then I can buy things during November with all the deals 😅 hearing your dialogue with your sister is so real and inspiring!!!
I love this series! I feel like I’m sitting there with you all. 💗
For me I have had a lot of no buy experience as I have an illness that prevents me from going into stores and from working - I have been saving so much 😂
I don't mind you wearing the same outfits at all. I absolutely love you and your sister. 🧡❤️. Awesome video. Have a wonderful and blessed weekend. 🤗
Love your sister's new hairstyle, it really refreshes her looks, bye from Croatia 🇭🇷
You have the nicest family and friends.❤
You guys did a great job With no buy November. My Dad has a saying to avoid clutter in his house Buy whatever you want but don't for heavens sake bring it home! This worked on us as kids with school fairs and thrift or jumble sales.
Where do you bring it to? 😆
Did you bring it to the garage ?
@@marloespeters8404 no the statement either ment you just didn't buy it at all or you donated it to somewhere. It was more a re.inder that we didn't need more stuff!!
Can’t blame you for buying Farm Rio. It’s my weakness. Also, my reasoning for my recent purchases is to challenge myself to make no purchases in 2024. So I’m stocked up. I did the same in 2022.
Carla you have such a kind approach working through the decluttering process ❤ Your sister is doing such a great job!!!
I love your sister's new haircut... Looks more younger❤
