Top Tip: RB6 and RB7 use the same library, so you can still manage your library in RB6 and have access to the collection and playlists at the same time.

My one bit of advice would be to up-and-coming DJs: if you're using a laptop, always have 2DJ programmes on your laptop, because if you have issues with one, you've always got something else to use for that night.

Actually the analyse function is getting smarter. I have been playing a lot with it. And the more tracks you have analyzed and put in the "RB learning folder", the better RB becomes at setting grid and cues.

I was thinking of getting a DDJ FLX-4 as a beginner, but I'm worried I won't have access to the software I need from Rekord Box if I do end up buying it. Will I have to deal with the files and folders you showed being locked? What won't I and what will i have access to? Thanks, great video!

I update from Hercules DJ Control steel to FLX4. With Hercules i used VirtualDJ (Tidal integraation). Now With Recordbox FLX4 is terrible. Recordbox don't shows Tidal song BPM before you move to deck. Maybe i get VirtualDJ onetime cost license. Other than that, it's a really good upgrade when it comes to the mixer. Another thing is that the headphone output power is poor. 50 ohms with headphones can be heard really quietly. Other headphones which is 32ohm are better.
Hi, am planning on buying a ddj flx4 soon, can i record mixes with it for free? If not is it possible to use audacity alongside rekordbox to record mixes? Kind of a deal breaker tbh. Thanks in advance 😊
If you use a laptop with your FLX-4 you can record mixes for free. On all my tutorial videos on this channel I record the audio in rekordbox and have never paid

The FLX 10 is a hardware unlock device and so it should work with rekordbox 7

I would like to know if paying the creative subscription and activating the vocal option in the analysis also transfers that vocal analysis to the waveform of my opus quad

You have effects built into the mixer on the opus quad? As it’s a standalone you can use these whether the laptop is connected or not
@@djkarlthomas So when you pay the rekordbox subscription, new effects will be added and the waveform will contain the vocal in my opus
Quick question.. Thanks for the info. I downloaded the new Version7 and it prompted me into the free trial only as well. What happens after the 30Days is over? They state it automatically defaults to a paid version? What do we need to do to get it to go to their basic free version only? Thanks
If you haven’t put your payment details in you won’t move to a paid version, it will move to free plus….if you have a hardware unlock device. You need to pay if you don’t have a hardware unlock device.

Hey! Quick question: I just bought the DDJ-GRV6 controller and installed the new Rekordbox 7 and it automatically started the free trial. After the free trial will I be able to use features like the Groove Circuit with hardware unlock? Or will I have to upgrade to a paid plan?
Nope it’s a hardware unlock device so will move you to the free plan

I cant add my playlist to a usb.. when I press the sync button it says usb corrupted or summimg.., my mac is close to getting smashed up.. driving me insane
I'm considering subscribing to a Rekordbox plan, either the Core Plan or the Creative Plan. I'm particularly interested in Voice AI detection, Hot Cue analysis, RMX-type effects, and DJM-type effects. However, I noticed that the Core Plan doesn't include Voice AI detection and RMX-type effects. Can someone explain what RMX-type effects and DJM-type effects are? When mixing, how helpful are these effects? I need an explanation. I have a DDJ-FLX6 controller, which is hardware unlocked.
a dj software with subscribtion is a NO NO for me. i own serato and virtual dj for life and I was about to move a bit and try rekordbox as I own opus quad that opens it. but after the subscription game I will never move fully to RB.

I think you have to make a comparison to Serato DJ. You have subscribe for things like changing the key with that software. Is it free on Rekordbox?

Thanks for this video! You are the only one who explained it quite clearly. But I have an issue.
I also have FLX-4, the free trial ended and now it's showing Free plan and the owner/product registration is greyed out, so I can't access it for some reasons even though I have connected the controller to my Mac. Seems very weird since FLX-4 is in the list of hardware unlock devices.
Does the functionality of recordbox varies from Free to Free plus plan when you complete owner registration? I want to use AI detection of vocal position . Thank you in advance for your answer.
You’ll need to subscribe for the vocal detection- I believe that’s on the creative plan. Very strange with why you can’t unlock the ‘free-plus’ plan as that is certainly available for your controller. Might be worth reaching out to Pioneer on their forum to ask what is going wrong.

Hey Karl, so i downloaded rekordbox ver.7 and i have a zipdj acc, i downloaded a few songs so I can import them to rekordbox, but when I click import on rekordbox nothing is there on my files when I’m on rekordbox. Do I have to subscribe to rekordbox to import music ?!
No definitely not. Try going into your downloads file, locate the files and drag and drop into the top collection window
I don’t DJay on a DaiLy Basis and barely fortnightly. It’s something I could’ve done in earlier times but I still retain my music collection on a mass scale as well as Production ideas in Producing. So the idea of Subscription is dumb for me with still the interest of Djaying.

so brotha, i’m tryna mix some dnb/techno n stuff around that area. what would be the best dj pool you’d recommend for that? i’ve literally got a whole list of tracks i wanna spin but i don’t really know where i’d be able to find em. ik i can get em all here on youtube, but i got no idea if i could even grab em off of here n put em into rekordbox. pretty new to the whole thing, got a ddj flx 4 and i’m kinda just bsing w/ these random soundcloud tracks that are included
If you have specific tracks you are after I would recommend buying them individually rather than relying on a pool. What you are after is pretty specific
don't waste money on dj pools for Techno and Psychedelic, because I did. I tried djcity, bpm supreme and zipdj.. for other Genre dj city is good & Club Killers also.
@@madnixxvlogs so dj city and klub killers is good? bc i’ve been using the soundcloud option they got but for whatever reason on rekordbox when i got to export mode the soundcloud tab entirely disappears and i can’t put any of my shit on a usb so i got no idea what to do really
@VierNecroma that’s because soundcloud is streaming- you don’t own the music on streaming services so you can’t export it to a device

Hi All I am where most of you were you were month ago, bought a new PC and shows Trial and 29 days left... I am trying to register my device but where do I do this?
I have a FLX4 too, just scared that on 29th day I have a gig like you had and have an issue.

Mine says trial at the top but in plans it says I’m on a free plan ? Once the “ trial “ runs out will it just say free from then on ? Abit confused
I think they do this on purpose!! Yes you will be on a free plan and some of those open padlocks will appear locked once the trial is over

Hy, is there a way to download the version 6 instead of 7? I just got a new Mac and want to use it for djing, but rekordbox has downloaded the version 7. and I don't want to use this.
is there any way to solve my problem or do I have to load my other Mac completely on my new Mac so all the programs are the same on both computers? (but if I do so, i probably have to leave all programs on the new one as well and can't delete any programs) ? I am so confused, thanks for a fast reply & help..
I believe you will need to transfer version 6 from your other laptop.

Well, for me, it doesn't really matter if Record Box starts charging the subscription because I've got PCDJ anyway from when I do karaoke, so I'll just switch and use it instead of Record Box.

@@djkarlthomas Thank you for putting new videos out on TH-cam. Some of the stuff you could put up is still useful for someone who is experienced. Like me, I switched from CDs to computers in 2005, so that just shows you how long I've been DJing for.

I pay for my music, I pay for the hardware that I want to play that music on & here you have AT who also want you to pay an addidtional charge to unlock certain features!! Interesting business model.

Yes- just some of the menu options won’t be available (identified with a padlock)

Depends what you want out of full access- look at what the subscription levels unlock. Hardware unlock basically unlocks the core plan

Shouldn’t do as this comes with hardware unlock and the FLX-4 is a hardware unlock device
Ive bought a DDJ FLX 10 and and struggling moving on from my s4 mk3 (Traktor) spend £1600 on a unti and then constanly wanting even more money
But the FLX-10 is a hardware unlock device so you will get access to the key performance features without a subscription to rekordbox so I’m not sure why you need to spend more and more?

WRONG! You totally can drag and drop tracks into playlists in the Free version...!
In rekordbox 7 you can drag songs into the overall collection but not into playlists.
So annoying, I'm just about to buy the rekordbox dvs system. I'm not sure now.

Depending on your hardware, you can try Virtual DJ. I switched to Virtual DJ and it came loaded with video mixing and DVS. I use a ddj1000 and have technics 1210's running phase. Good luck on your decision.
Subscriptions are such bs in the DJ market. Licenses are just fine. Sadly seems like everything is going to subscription. You can't buy and own things outright anymore. Louis Rossman has been spreading the word, but people won't push back lol.
