Pacific Rift is peak Arcade Off-Road and the last great one of its kind. Fantastic Track design, great physics and controlls and a killer soundtrack. This game was done with love from the devs and with fun in mind. No Bullshit story, no car upgrade/lvl/whatever stuff. pick a car, pick a track, enjoy. how it should be.
I like Apocalypse for what it is, but I don't really consider it a Motorstorm game considering that's more urban rather than being an offroading game, like the first three games. I'll review that game one day though.

I played that game first at a promo truck at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) when it was pretty new and was blown away by the awesome graphics and gameplay. Later I bought it aswell as the first Motorstorm and Apocalypse. Had so much fun splitscreen racing my friends. The campaign could be pretty challenging at times but that was part of the fun. The DLC are pretty good too, adding many new tracks and Volcanic versions of vanilla and DLC tracks with more lava and heat. There is a DLC time trial mode which is pretty fun too.
randomly unlocked so many memorys of playing this game as a kid!!! fuckin heartbroken the studio was shut down, not being able to buy this on ps4-ps5 is criminal

2022, first time playing it and i'm blown away by the beautiful and diverse tracks. It gives me the vibes of Forza Horizon 5 and Dirt 2. The game itself is very frustrating most of the times lol. I suck at it.
Here are my thoughts on Motorstorm Pacific Rift: Pacific Rift is the 2nd Motorstorm game I played, as I played Apocalypse first. As I was told before, Pacific Rift and MSV are way different from Apocalypse, and I can confirm that. Graphics-wise, PR looks much more natural than Apocalypse, as you're on a giant island the entire time. Pacific Rift is fun and chaotic, but also challenging. I'm Rank 6 in the Festival and it's pretty difficult now. The Eliminator event on Paradise Beach actually made me rage for the first time while playing a Motorstorm game. It's interesting that all festival events have vehicle restrictions, and many of them are true tests of skill, and it actually gets frustrating sometimes. Wreckreation mode is fun with the right settings. Specific vehicles on specific maps can make some pretty interesting, entertaining, and chaotic races. Some of favorite races I've done in Wreckreation mode are: Monster trucks and Mudpluggers on The Edge and I was a Mudplugger. It was absolute chaos and there was a huge crash with like 6 vehicles involved, I got absolutely destroyed and it was a big pileup. That race was chaos and I loved it. Another interesting race was Big Rig Rush [9 Big Rigs on Sugar Rush]. It was tricky trying not to crash in the narrow sections of the factory. Now about the mechanics. Since boost lasts a lot longer in MS PR and takes longer to cool down compared to Apocalypse boost mechanics, I feel like there's more strategy involved with boosting in PR, especially since there's no air and rain cooldown like in Apocalypse. I really like that vehicle choice actually matters in PR. Events play out differently depending on everyone's choice of vehicle, as certain vehicles are more suited for certain tracks. For me I prefer Rally Cars, Racing Trucks, Big Rigs, and Mudpluggers. I will never use a bike or ATV unless the event requires it. Now about the physics. The physics are pretty solid I guess. Overall it's a great game, and one heck of an experience. I'm glad to be able to play it.
I love all four, just not that top down RC game so much. But the three PS3 entries and the PS2 port of the one PSP Arctic game, means you get a MotorStorm for every season. Mud and rocks in spring with the first, summer with Pacific, Fall and Halloween vibes with Apoc, and the Arctic game for a while in winter. Play all the games that arent the RC game like this in seasons, and You're gonna get a kick that continues to mix things up. You owe it to yourself to give it a try. 🏴☠
I recently picked up an old Sony XBR960, an HD CRT TV. I got it specifically for this general era in gaming. The very first thing I've been putting time into is Pacific Rift, and oh man what an incredible game. It's better than any current racer, and it's not even close.
Man seeing this makes me want to plug in my ps3 and play all of the motor storms. Yes i do have arctic edge on psp. But if you want to know my favorite of the Motor Storm series it is Motor Storm Apocalypse. Main reason a actual f-ing story. Plus the enviroment while not the best that goes to Pacific Rift. It is the most intersting. And do not get me started on the cards that you can collect in the story mode. So yeah my pic Motor Storm Apocalypse. Very good review if you have not you should do one on Apocalypse aswell.
I really have mix feeling for Apocalypse, it's not a bad game I did had fun with it, it's just doesn't feel like a Motorstorm game at all, It just looses some of the elements that made the other games so special.

Playing this while blasting the ost to TNN Motorsports Hardcore 4X4 which i played a lot for psone as a kid was a great experience. Pacific Rift is hands down the last great racing game i played.
I got very lucky and was able to buy a copy in decent condition for $2. I really want to know people's thoughts on the DLC so it'd be great if we could get a video on this game's DLC in the future!
I'm surprised no mention of small stutters during a event or long stutters usually when finishing one while also not mentioning the god awful rubberbanding from you in this MS PC is still a masterpiece video lol
I don't mind the rubberbanding in this game since it adds to the presented chaotic nature, and I never notice any form of stuttering in my playthrough whatsoever.
You can play this game online now with the PSORG DNS. Be warned though, when a match is finished, you will have to close the game, otherwise your save will corrupt, so make sure to back it up just to be safe.
I was disappointed that this wasn't part of the new ps plus premium, but Apocalypse and RC is, honestly I never really liked those 2. Motorstorm 1 and Pacific rift is the best ones imo
